I moved from Seattle four years ago and this has been one of my favorite nurseries ever since arriving. I love hunting for rare and unusual plants and I typically find something here. They sell a unique iron tomato trellises which I use for ornamental vines. I haven’t found those anywhere else. Everybody is knowledgeable and friendly.

We bought a Christmas tree from Summer Winds and it is the fullest tree we have ever bought. I bought two pink lemon trees also. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. You can't go wrong. Check them out.

Bought some plants here a bit ago and had a great experience. Erik was SO helpful and helped me pick out the best plants for my yard. He was super knowledgeable and kindly and patiently explained how to best care for my plants. I’m new to gardening, so I was so appreciative of Erik taking the time to walk me through exactly what I needed and why. Def coming back!

Summer winds is an amazing local staple that has been providing Phoenicians with plants for many years. Their fruit, vegetable, and herb selection is quite diverse with options for every taste. Their fruit trees and berry bush selection is also quite diverse and interesting. One of their employees taught me about fruit cocktail trees a few years ago and it's been a goal of mine to have one ever since.
They also have a wide range of decorative planting from flowers to cacti to bushes and trees as well as any gardening supply you'd need. Summer winds is one of two nurseries I use in the Valley and I am never disappointed with the plants I get there! Their employees are also incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I'd highly recommend this nursery for your plants and plant related needs -
My favorite plant nursery in the valley, and I’ve been to them all! The selection of indoor and outdoor plants is consistently excellent, and the staff are always friendly and ready to help. I’ve been coming to this SW location on and off for the last several years and have enjoyed it every time; however, my interaction with Matthew today necessitated a review! He was so sweet, knowledgeable, and approachable. He gave me some valuable insight on what cacti could tolerate all the direct sun our patio gets during our brutal summers. Can’t wait to come back soon and get everything I need! Thanks, Matthew!

Summer Winds nursery is the best place for gardening and landscaping lovers. The staff are so knowledgeable. They were very welcoming of any questions that I had, and made some great recommendations. I know that it’s a little more expensive than Home Depot or Lowe's, but I actually found some deals that beat the big box stores. Also I’ve noticed that their flowers seed and come back every season. Which flowers from Home Depot don’t seem to do so… 10/10 would recommend.

Summer Winds is beyond great! I visited it today for the first time in 2 years.
I forgot how relaxing, exciting, and inspiring it can be to roam through their truly huge inventory of plants especially suited to our desert climate here in Phoenix.
I went for 1 specific plant and I found it in a variety of sizes.
However, finding that plant became a 2nd priority as soon as I walked through the gate. The variety of flowering annuals grabbed my attention and I had to look through them all ...
Next, I encountered their huge selection of garden herbs and vegetable plants. I'm almost ready to plant my herb half barrell planter, and they have so much of what I need
Next, I was in the "outside" part of the nursery. They have every type of plant to spark ideas and plan a landscape creation and/or change.
Trees, shrubs, vining plants, ground covers, hanging plants, a selection of cacti, succulents, grasses, yuccas, and on and on. My ideas were abundant.
When I asked if they had Munstadt lavender, I was told it would be in stock later. He said it's still early Spring and they aren't fully stocked.
What?!? I don't know how much more stocked they could be
Their pots, planters, trellises, rock selection, fountains, bird baths are all worth spending time admiring.
Lastly, every single staff member was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.
If you've never been to Summer Winds, go!
And if it has been a while since your last visit, go now!
For the first time this year, I truly feel like Spring has arrived. -
Just returned home from Summer Winds. Justin helped us with plant choices for our pots and a section of the front yard. He helped us choose full sun plants that worked well together. He had a wonderful attitude and was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Thank you, Justin!

Jimmy is the professor of petunias, the master of mums, the prince of palo verde, the doctor of dahlias, the yoda of yuccas...merely ask and you will receive the knowledge of the ages in addition to a great tip on pulling dandelions.

Has just about everything you could need for a garden. Great seed selection, including organic seeds. I also picked up a hummingbird feeder and a bird food wheel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They also have a rewards points program! Will only be coming here for my garden and plant needs moving forward.

If you're looking for any types of plants, this is the place to go. The staff is very knowledgeable

Good selection, great prices and friendly staff. I would go here before going to Moon Valley across the street. For instance, we bought Oleanders here for $20 each (10") whereas at Moon Valley they wanted $175 each, that included installation and they were a little more mature (15") but it certainly wasn't worth paying almost nine times the price. Summer Winds also guarantees their plants as long as you follow their guidance. Also, the Oleanders here were healthier with thicker branches that were more robust and a lot larger as the same size at Lowe's and Lowe's charges $5 more. There was no comparison at all, the plants at Summerwinds are healthier, they have better value and a more attentive staff.

Frequent customer here, angry about a recent purchase. My penstemon’s roots filled only 2/3 of the pot, 1/3 being loose dirt and rocks (!). That is a deceptive practice and I have posted a review on the grower’s site. Moreover, there were three grubs in the loose soil. I am sorely disappointed.

Call ahead to see if they could set aside some ladybugs, the person I spoke to said they would. When I got there the cashier told me they sold the last set of ladybugs.
So whoever answered the phone either didn't bother to check or lied -
Stopped by for some watering trays. Asked for some help on finding a different pot for my philodendron but the dude was very kind and reassured me it is fine where it is and its doing wonderful in the current pot. Im more a succulent/cacti collector. So it was nice to hear im doing it right😆 i felt so confident i left with a beautiful coleus! also, the young guy at the register was very kind as well. Let me know more things will be coming on soon. Don't threaten me with a good time!! Ill be back very soon! Wonderful service & prices!

I’ve been to this Summerwinds location about 6-8 times now and have always had a great experience. Great selection of planters and plants! Everyone has always been very helpful, and this time we met Matthew. He was amazing! He helped us choose the best plants for the planters we chose and for our indoor location. He even suggested that we add Pothos to the front of the planter for a trailing pop of color. He had many tips for planting and was so incredibly helpful. Thank you Matthew and Summerwinds for such excellent service!

I just finished setting up my new plant from this nursery and I am so happy with how it looks. From all the nurseries I know this one is my favorite. I had a question about an indoor plant and Eloise helped me pick the right kind. She explained me why the lighting is so important to consider. Also, I wanted a planter that wasn’t available and she helped me filling out a request form. The energy in this location is amazing and they have great prices.
