Extreme Bait-and-Switch Tactics - Avoid This Company

I am writing this review to warn others about the deceptive practices of Duct King. Our experience was a textbook bait-and-switch scam, and I do not want anyone else to fall victim.

We booked a duct cleaning service after receiving a clear, upfront quote of $70 by prior telling that the vent duct is on roof and we were told yes, it is covered. However, on the day of the service, the technician arrived and immediately shifted into high-pressure scare tactics. He claimed our ducts were a severe fire hazard and presented other alarming (and likely exaggerated) issues that were never mentioned during the booking.

Feeling concerned and pressured on the spot, we were presented with a final bill that was more than triple the original quote for services and "necessary" repairs we never agreed to and were not disclosed beforehand. The initial low price was simply a trap to get in the door.

This is not professional service; it is a scheme designed to frighten homeowners into paying for expensive, unplanned work. The lack of transparency and the predatory upselling are unacceptable.

BEWARE: If you book with Duct King, the price you are quoted is almost certainly NOT the price you will pay. They will use fear to inflate your bill significantly. I strongly advise you to look elsewhere for honest and reputable service providers.

John and Matt were here today to address some serious issues in our duct work and vents. They were Extremely personable, corrected the issue and were so very kind. A fire could have easily started if they didn’t discover our major issues. I highly recommend this company and would suggest you ask for these two great guys.

Dusty was great! Super friendly, even with my hyper and barking dog. Our home is much cleaner after a thorough air duct cleaning we needed after a renovation! I can already tell the difference. Thank you Dusty!

Joel did an outstanding job of cleaning the vent of my dryer all the way up to the roof. He was professional and friendly. He explained everything thoroughly. I would have him back again.

Martin Flores and Tony were outstanding . They went through and explained the whole process of cleaning the dryer vent. They were very courteous and professional. I would recommend Steam King (duct king) to everyone that needs their dryer vent cleaned.

Dusty and his team arrived on time, they were friendly, professional, thorough, and even took time to let my 4 dogs become familiar with them.
Dusty kept me informed of each step, reviewed the quote before starting any work and explained how the A/C system worked. Now, the air flowing from the vents feels fresher, actually cold, and makes the house feel cleaner & smell better.
Also, we had the dryer vent cleaned out, which was clogged, and the dryer hose was crimped, a possible fire hazard, so Dusty explained what to get and how to install it.
I’m looking forward to seeing my home’s energy efficiency increase and my electric bill decrease. Thank you Dusty and Team!

Josh was great! He came in and got right to work. He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about what needed to be done. Josh made sure I saw what needed to be cleaned out before he started the clean out process. When he was finished, he made sure everything was cleaned up and put back into place. Couldn’t ask for a better technician!

We originally had a young man come out on the 24th to take care of some services. He was really nice, and shame on me for signing and assuming he did a good job, but when he left we realized that there was dust everywhere on the floor, on our beds. We took off one of the vents and we noticed that the ducts and vents were still very dirty! To the point that we concluded that he probably didn’t do anything. We called SteamKings back and they quickly rescheduled another tech to come out the next day.

The next day Shapour/Sean came out and assured us that he will go over all the work to ensure that it was done correctly. When he inspected it he realized that everything was still very dirty. He took his time cleaning out all the vents, ducts and even cleaned the air handlers and coils that should have been done. While cleaning he took time to show me the results to make sure I was pleased with the work. Sean took his time cleaning and making sure everything was put back in its place. He was meticulously careful in not creating a mess and cleaning up after himself which the first technician wasn’t.

I am very pleased with his work and professionalism. I wouldn’t have any problems having Sean help me on future projects as I know he will do a fantastic job.

Shapour/Sean did any amazing job. He was very transparent and showed me videos of the service and was a hug help. I will be using them again in the future and I recommwnd you do the same.

My mom wanted to support a local trusted business and we are glad and lucky to have seen their advertisement in the local mailers. It was 100% the right call as the entire process was incredibly painless and wonderfully pleasant. Great with the family, great with the dogs, respectful of the whole house from the art on walls to the clean up afterwards to the paperwork at the end to walking out the door. Personable, knowledgeable and trustworthy, Dusty and Louis went out of their way to make my mom feel safe and secure while they were working as well as explaining everything they worked on. They made a customer for life and we can’t thank them enough.

Dusty and Ben were outstanding and I would highly recommend working with them. They were on time very considerate of my family made extra effort to take care of my home and we’re hard-working. Always focused on getting the job done. Very informative Dusty communicated well the entire time. Although it took a few hours, the time was necessary to complete the job and I’m grateful for their thoroughness. I would highly recommend them both to anyone who needs to have their ducts cleaned. Your service man was great to work with. He explained what really needed to be done to improve the looks, smell & the rejuvenation of my carpet for longer & better wear. I'm a senior on a fixed income & explained that I'm struggling, he checked with his boss to see if he could help me out with lowering the cost & he was able to get it done. I'm to happy you sent him

Jose did great service. He fixed a dryer vent on our roof. He was very friendly and great customer service. Only thing I did have a concern about was the initial price that was stated before he did the work and fo some reason the price was about a $100 more when the job was done. There was some miscommunication but DuctKing took care of it which was still kind of high for not owning the home which was explained to Jose at start.

Shapour/ Sean did what seemed to be an AWESOME job on my air duct cleaning….
Update:
-Would like to add that once the heater went on dust went everywhere. There were no after photos or looking to see if everything was cleaned. The boss had called and put what seemed to be a rush on the tech. I also used a coupon and was quoted around $250. for air vent cleaning. Once the tech evaluated he highly recommended that I do a cleaner and then a sealer. Total was up to $600.. so much for the coupon!@?! He called and spoke with the boss and said he could do $500.. The tech was nice but I won’t be using there services again.

Dusty and Charlie did a great job cleaning our HVAC and dryer vents. Dusty provided a comprehensive review of the system to show me only the work that was needed. They were quick and clean and left us in great shape. Highly recommend for Scottsdale vent cleaning.

This company sends a flyer out weekly. To get services for a reasonable price and then bait and switch I asked for a basic carpet cleaning( Per the coupon advertisement $34.75 for 5 rooms ) at the bottom of the coupon it says visibly soiled carpet will require preconditioning at 25 cents per square foot we highly recommend 3M Scotchgard protector. So I asked can I just get the basic service I do not want the preconditioning. He said no we have to come out and look at the carpet and decide whether we're going to charge you the 25 cents per square foot I said I have brand new carpet see in pictures ...I'm sorry ma'am he said it doesn't work that way do not use this company with a coupon... to me this is false advertising because you should have the right to use the coupon and have the basic service without adding anything on and he said they make that decision that is false advertising. 🤦 So I give them a one star as a Google reviewer.

Dusty did an amazing job. He throughly explained everything. Both Dusty and D are a definite asset to DuctKing. We feel so much better knowing our air quality is at its best. Thank you.
