Constraction reviews in North Little Rock, Arkansas
-
Last winter, I uncovered several issues with water intrusion behind our fiber cement siding on our 13 year old house. Frustrated, I knew we were looking at a significant repair and investment in our home. My first and last call was to Jimmy at Sideco, the only member of the James Hardie Contractor Alliance program in central Arkansas.
Jimmy, Anthony, and Brent came to our home and did a full assessment of our original install and our problem areas. At the showroom a couple days later, Jimmy walked us their installation process in significant detail. In siding projects, the details matter immensely; the lack of attention to those details in the original installation is why it failed so soon. He spent close to two hours with us, walked us through proper installation of those materials, including flashing, proper nailing practices, paint, and many other critical details. Jimmy’s approach was exactly what we needed, enough so that, with no sales pitch, we also decided to replace our builder grade windows with Marvin casement windows.
Anthony was our project manager, and he and his crew delivered. They installed exactly as Jimmy described; answered all of my (many) questions; helped with important decisions on paint, stain, and trim details; and cleaned up at the end of every day. And they obviously really enjoyed the work they were doing. Anthony was incredibly helpful and patient with me through the process. Brent managed our window installation and was even so kind as to let me watch one being installed, walking me through their process. It made the entire experience much easier than a project of this scale would typically be.
Sideco left us with a beautiful home. The siding looks fantastic and the attention to detail gives us peace of mind that we will not be doing this again in 13 years. The windows are also fantastic - a noticeable decrease in outside noise and drafts. Plus, casement windows are just objectively cool.
At the end of the project, we decided to replace the front door as well, and of course we asked Jimmy to help. We’re looking forward to it finishing off the exterior.
I can’t recommend Sideco enough. If you need James Hardie siding, new windows, or a deck, you won’t regret making the call to Jimmy. -
We are extremely happy with how our home looks, the quality products used, and the craftsmanship of Sideco. Sideco made the process easy every step of the way. We were impressed with how each crew specialized in their own area, window installation, demo, siding, painting, etc. The crews were so polite, friendly and hard working. We would definitely recommend Sideco to anyone needing to make exterior repairs and wanting to update their home. Thank you Jimmy Russell and your wonderful team at Sideco!!!

My wife and I first used Sideco to install siding on a previous home we had 30 years ago and they also installed gutters and a kitchen door on our home back in 2008. We recently contacted Jimmy to get some suggestions on replacing the 24 year old windows in our current home. We wanted to use Marvin windows and Sideco is an exclusive dealer and installer for these type of windows and doors. Jimmy and Brent came to our home, took some measurements and explained what our best option would be. After deciding on the type and style Jimmy told us the ordering process takes a few weeks and that the installation would take five days. Brent was the project manager and he and his crew arrived at our house every morning at 8am. Brent and his crew are very good at what they do. If you are worried about dust and mess don’t worry. Brent has someone cleaning behind their work every step of the way. If you’re worried about the job not being done right, don’t worry. The workmanship is top notch. They installed 11 new Marvin windows and one sliding door all with new casement, trim, molding and paint. It’s pretty uncommon in today’s world to see individuals take pride in their work and actually do it correctly but Sideco employees do. Brent was even able to answer some questions and help us out with some ongoing problems we have been having with our home regarding some siding and deck issues. I could continue to go on and on about their quality of work but I think all the 5 star reviews pretty much say it all. Sideco is the model of how a business should be run. Jimmy knows his business very well and he’s successful because he hires the most knowledgeable and talented people in the industry and treats everyone like family. And we will be seeing Sideco once again in just a few months. They will be installing new TimberTech composite decking on our home in September and with Sideco doing the project I know it will be done right and give us many years of enjoyment outdoors.
UPDATE: Completion of our new deck!!
Thanks to Jon, Ethan and the rest of the crew for the impressive work they did on putting together our new maintenance free TimerTech deck. We made quite a few changes along the way but Jon was very patient and helpful in working with us to build the deck we’ve always wanted. We are thrilled with the outcome and definitely glad we chose Sideco to install it. Once again the quality of work, craftsmanship and attention to detail is at an elite level. We are really looking forward to enjoying the many years of outdoor entertainment with our family and friends without the hassle of warped and splintered wood and the continual maintenance of a wood deck. -
First of all, let us say that we had an amazing experience with Sideco! We had 3 other quotes for our job, but no one we spoke to instilled the confidence we needed to be able to tackle this job. We had our entire exterior done; new siding, facia, soffit, gutters and windows. We were particularly concerned about waterproofing because of shoddy workmanship the first time around because of prior contractor shortcuts. We knew we wanted high quality windows because of our amazing views. And, as retirees, we wanted our exterior to be virtually maintenance free. We also loved the look of our home as it was, and wanted to retain the charm of all the Federal Style wood details on the front of the house.
Jimmy Russell has procured an impressive and talented crew of workers, and his project manager Anthony kept everything running smoothly.
Our project started on time, and took exactly as long as promised. We were able to visit the showroom and have a hands on experience with the siding, windows and construction details which also added to our confidence level with using Sideco.
If I had one piece of advice for anyone considering using Sideco, it would be: TRUST THE PROCESS!
It is nerve wracking to witness, and sometimes things are not done in the order one might anticipate, but on the last day when everything finally pulls together, the results are AMAZING and you will be very satisfied. -
We engaged SideCo to replace all our aged vinyl siding on our home and to replace a double door with a modern Marvin French door. The project start was one week later than expected, their previous project had run longer than expected. Not an issue as we’d had bad weather.
The crew’s porta potty and dumpster arrived on Friday and the crew, all 12 of them, arrived by 8 am on Monday, along with the on-site project manager Anthony, the project supplies and work trailer. They quickly set about removing all the old siding, soffit, facia board, gutters and down pipes.
The job site quickly settled into a rhythm. Every morning the set-up guys would arrive by 7 am and start setting up for the day. Work started at 8 through 11. They’d take a lunch break for an hour, almost everyone stayed on site during lunch. They’d work from 12 to 4 pm. When they spent an hour covering the materials, picking up debris, and making sure the house was weather proof. During the most trash intensive activity there was always someone whose job it was to walk the site with a magnet and to pick up all the trash.
Anthony kept the team focused and was a pleasure to work with. Everything decision was documented, usually by text message with photos attached. Anthony also created a project photo library taking photos every day showing progress and detailing before/after of any issues and how they were resolved. We had rot in one corner caused by a badly installed gutter, that was all cut out and replaced with new materials. This library was given to us when the project was completed.
As we’d anticipated, changing from flimsy vinyl siding to the mass of the James Hardy Board with ½” closed cell insulation with radiant reflector has made the house noticeably quieter. The extra insulation helps keep the house warm/cool depending on the season.
The workmanship of the crew was superb. Every board was cut with precision, measured to 1/32”. The uniformity of the siding lay-up was ensured using clamping jigs, all the lap lines are even and horizontal. The transitions to trim were calked. We chose not to use a factory finish for the Hardy Board, so when it came to painting the whole house was masked and sprayed. Where the Hardy Plank butted against trim, the color transitions were very carefully hand painted. The attention to this detail was excellent around the whole house.
Overall, we are very comfortable with our decision to have SideCo do our project. While the project was not cheap, with SideCo we definitely got a quality job done using quality products that should last for many years.
In the attached photos, the light color siding is the “before” photo, the dark is the “after” photo. The two of the Hardy plank to Hardy trim show the fine detail of the caulking and painting done by SideCo. -
After a great deal of research and trepidation looking for a contractor to install a new covered deck and replace the siding and gutters on our home we finally decided on Sideco and we couldn’t be happier with our choice. In addition we also replaced the entry doors and storm doors as well as adding recessed lighting and ceiling fans on our new deck. Our biggest concern as we were basically having our entire exterior renovated was having multiple contractors from different companies involved and the left not cooperating with the right as the old saying goes. Sideco took on and completed the entire project including painting the James Hardie cement fiber siding, trim, soffits, brickwork and our existing garage door. Coordination with electricians, roofers, painters all came together as a team from start to finish. Removal of all the old material and installation of the new siding and gutters as well as the doors was done smoothly and professionally. The new covered deck came together and was better than we could have imagined.Every detail from large to small was completed and done to the highest level of workmanship including the cleanup of every scrap of old and new material. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how easy it was to work out the details with the owner Jimmy Russell and his crew were the absolute best at their craft. In fact, we were undecided on what color to paint the siding and trim until they showed us an how to take an AI image of our house and change the color samples which made all the difference in our decision making process. That was a huge bonus as we may have went with colors we would have regretted later. They were professional but so easy to get along with until after a few day it was like you had your family or friends working on your project that took great pride in their work rather than strangers just trying to get finished. It’s rare to find a company and dedicated employees that care about their craft as well as their customers but I can guarantee you this crew does and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them for any job large or small.

We recently hired Sideco for a full make over including all windows, doors, siding, gutters, and exterior paint as well as the construction of a portico on the front of the house.
The end results are amazing. The quality of the materials (Marvin windows and James Hardie Siding) is phenomenal and the attention to detail that Sideco took installing the materials is visible everywhere you look around the house now.
The crew doing the actual work also exceeded our expectations. Everyone was friendly, hard working, and had great attitudes. My wife and kids never felt uncomfotable having any of the crew around and we all enjoyed the interactions we had with them.
In the end I cannot recommend this company enough, it was 100% turn key, all fees disclosed up front, amazing workmanship, timely delivery, and a major emphasis on customer experience and satisfaction. -
Almost got hit by one of their drivers in Little Rock. They ran a red light. When you are in a company vehicle you represent that company. If anyone at this company wants to reach out I have video.

Friendly people treated me like family

I don't know who was driving one of the company trucks in Conway on Dave Ward Dr, but you need to explain the 1st responder vehicles are to be given way to. Not once but twice the truck blocked an ambulance running code three.
-
Because its night time your drivers(worker) think they won't get caught but they will eventually. This the 3rd time I'm having to contact this company so next time I wont..I will be calling the police...after several time trying to be nice but Now I've had enough. Your worker whoever he is will NOT continue to get away with his action because its gonna get stop by the police or the Owner of Carsons. We don't tolerate it anymore! Control your Driver( worker)

do NOT rent from these people unless you want to be in unlivable conditions. so many cracks in the home there were raccoons and squirrels getting in and nothing was done about it when notified. mold all in the home, was just covered up when notified. went a MONTH without a trashcan because they refused to get another one when notified. had to call the city multiple times because they said it must be the landlord to get a new trashcan, but eventually they helped us get one after explaining our awful landlord situation. no insulation in the home, $300 electric bill and i’m still sweating in my own house. opening straight to attic above the closet wasn’t covered when notified, multiple mice in there. 3 people’s houses on one water line and no notice when they would shut it off. i would have to let my neighbors know if they were going to shut mine off and they would let me know when it should’ve been the landlord or maintenance man. plus so much more :) also RUDEST RENTAL MANAGER in existence, literally would NEVER help us and told us we had to leave before our lease was even up. but shoutout to the maintenance men cause they were always nice and helpful (not the first white guy, he was awful, but the ones after)

I don’t even know you people, but there’s groups currently working next door and they keep stealing our water and electricity after being at least told you ask us first. Our bill has doubled the past few months since they’ve been working here almost $400 for a Conway Corp bill. Which used to be only low $200 with 2 adults and a baby. Me and my husband were told that we would be receiving money for letting them use our water and electricity by one of the workers and then they told us they will give it to us the next week and so on. We have already called car-son construction Company and it seems like they ignore my husbands call from his phone number every time we try to call them now after explaining to them what the problem was. We were also told a supervisor would call us about this problem and they blew us off and won’t answer our calls anymore. This is THEFT! Y’all are using my water and electricity as I speak After already being told not to. My husband is the only one working while I take care of the baby and you people are very inconsiderate and greedy.

Great

I have no insight about the business, but one of the employees tailgated me on I40 and then pulled up beside me to yell out the window at me. This all happened in a CCI truck, so I assume poor training.
