We are so happy with our landscape designed by Laura and Phil. She so thoughtfully chose the plants, they are beautiful and fit the area perfectly. Both were so easy to work with, and available with any needs or questions. Now they are doing our maintenance as well.

With great enthusiasm I applaud the work product created by The Landscape Company, thanks to its owner, Phil Dundas, and his competent crew. My Santa Cruz Gardens front yard was transformed from 1,200 square feet of lifeless turf to a spectacular display of drought resistant plants, providing a variety of texture and color and accented with three new trees. The backyard was renovated with drought tolerant red fescue and perimeter plants as well as mulch.
The experienced crew pruned existing fruit trees, created a flagstone pathway, restored a cracked sidewalk, installed a drip irrigation system, reinforced a retaining wall, and corrected an eroded sided yard with a French drain and river rock.

I recommend The Landscape Company because of the owner’s prompt response, accurate estimates, flexibility with plant selection and budget, sense of aesthetics, knowledge, practical considerations, and relationship with the landscape community.

I had a leak in an old irrigation system and a plumber told me they would need to dig up my yard and walkways. I was panicked and had no idea where to go for a solution. I cold-called 3 different companies and The Landscape Company was the only one that called me back on a timely basis. They came out early the next morning, and, despite my old system being a unicorn, fixed the leak promptly and gave me an idea of how my system could work. I continue to be so grateful for their prompt, professional, creative help.

Phil and his team did an amazing job on my front yard remodel. His team was a pleasure to work with, very tidy and friendly. They executed perfectly on our vision! I would highly recommend the Landscape Company.

Paul, Efrain and Thomas were great partners for a new homeowner! They helped us understand what we needed and were very transparent about process, materials and costs associated. Phil takes pride in giving his customers the small mom and pop business feel , but has the team and business knowledge to support a large business operation. I love the fact that the business owner works directly with his clients. He provides custom packages for each of his clients if needed. His team is really friendly, trustworthy, and always arrives on time! Phil has a kind heart. He is a really great guy who cares about his customers. I honestly do not like being one in a million of customers in the corporate world. You feel like you are lost in the shuffle of things. I never felt this way when working with this company. Not only did I receive outstanding customer service, I got direct calls from the owner to check on how my services were going. now if that's not customer service I don't know what else is!

Efrain and his great team did an outstanding job! They removed the old lawn (which was mostly weeds and gopher holes), installed a great new sprinkler system, added soil amendments and top soil and then laid beautiful new sod. I am so happy with my new lawn and grateful for the professionalism and care that I received from The Landscape Company.

Phil and Laura did an amazing job landscaping our front and back yard. They designed a truly special outdoor living space by creating lovely paths, beautiful plantings, fencing our patio, building an arbor for our climbing roses. Two years ago, we experienced a massive retaining wall collapse during a series of atmospheric rivers. The damage caused a huge mudslide that poured right down to our front door, leaving us unable to use our driveway for over a year. It was overwhelming and stressful—until we found Phil and The Landscape Company.

From the start, we knew we were in good hands. We did our homework and looked around at a lot of options, but Phil immediately stood out. As two women living in the mountains alone, we’ve had our fair share of experiences with contractors making assumptions—but not once did Phil or his crew ever make us feel anything but respected and supported.

Phil came up with a solid plan, and the team got started right away. Their communication was top-notch—anytime something came up or we had a question, they were quick to respond and took our concerns seriously. And their crew? Absolutely incredible. Due to the structure of our property, they had to dig everything by hand. It was honestly amazing to watch the amount of hard work and precision they put in.

Now, over a year later, our beautiful new stone retaining wall has withstood more intense storms, and we finally feel safe again. The craftsmanship is stunning, and the peace of mind is priceless.

From Phil, who was hands-on throughout the project, to the hardworking four-man crew who showed up every day, to Stephanie in the office (who was so responsive and helpful every step of the way)—this company truly went above and beyond. They aren’t just a landscape company, they feel like a tight-knit team that genuinely has your back.

This company is a hot mess. I had them build a fairly straightforward deck in my backyard. The quote was reasonable, and Jesse, who did all the work, was great. But their back office is completely disorganized. And their business practices are sketchy at best. They ended up invoicing me 30%+ over the quoted price. I understand that these things are based on time and materials, but at no point in time did they indicate things were taking longer than expected or that it might come in significantly over the quoted price. I feel like they intentionally underbid and then overcharged. They also lost the check that I mailed them, and have been unresponsive to emails for weeks at a time when I attempted to follow up (trying to pay them). My recommendation is to stay away. Not worth the hassle.

If you’re looking for gardening/landscape work — RTJ landscaping has been great (transparent and communicative). And if you’re looking for a larger project, Finesse Fence did a fantastic job on my fence.

Phil, Laura, and the team at The Landscape Company are amazing! We have been working with them on landscaping a large hill in our backyard. They recommended prepping it for winter rains by installing a waddle system and laying down erosion control netting and straw. They noticed a storm system was arriving early so they prioritized the work and got everything installed before the rain arrived. Can't thank them enough!

I hired this company to prepare my house for sale, and it turned into a nightmare. They promised a list of services but did less than half of what was agreed. The one thing they focused on — scraping the driveway — was communicated as an extra cost, but they never told me how much it would be. I didn’t find out until after the fact that it ate up nearly my entire budget. I already had quotes from other companies for a fraction of what they charged.

The results were just as bad. I had taken my own before-and-after photos, and they clearly showed benches knocked over, trash left behind, and areas that looked worse than before. The company didn’t provide any proof of work themselves — just told me it was done and expected me to believe it, even though my pictures showed otherwise. My realtor confirmed it didn’t look like much had been done. In the end, I had to spend another $3,000 to hire someone else to finish the work they were supposed to do.

On top of that, the owner repeatedly called and threatened to put a lien on my property instead of working with me to resolve things fairly.

If you’re considering this company, beware: they underdelivered, overcharged without being upfront, and left my property in worse shape than before.

We had excellent service from Vlad. Our repair was done quickly and efficiently and he needed an extra part, so he ordered the part overnight and came the next day on a Saturday so our fridge was up and running. Great service!

Successfully diagnosed and repaired washing machine after another company failed. Yeah!
