I'm very pleased with how our front and back yards turned out. Scott worked with me to make my dream yard come true. When hiring a contractor to build a yard, make sure you research which one to go with. After prior bad experiences with other contractors for my previous house, I never had to worry Scott would run off with our money or leave the job uncompleted. I also did not have to worry about the quality of the workmanship and materials used.

Yes, building a dream yard is expensive, but you get what you pay for. From start to finish, it took about a year and a half and there were many scope changes along the way. In the end, it was well worth it. Many a neighbor has complimented us on our beautiful yard. Thanks, Green Scene!

We are very pleased with our front and back landscape designed and built by Greenscene. Throughout the project, everyone in the office and on-site were communicative, patient, and delineated everything in the project clearly. A special shout-out to Frank, our on-site manager—he runs a tight ship with his crew, which kept our project on schedule and efficient. He always took the time to answer our questions and kept a good humor throughout.

We decided to go with Scott at Green Scene because we really needed a creative eye to help us design our pool and landscape our backyard. Scott has an amazing ability for redesigning even the most challenging yards. The quality of the work and the end result was unparalleled. Demolition was quick and not intrusive. Green Scene turned our basic backyard into a beautiful, family-oriented oasis. Our project foreman, Eric Sharon, was incredible and always accessible to answer our questions and concerns. Some constructive feedback is that we were also sold on the project management support, which we felt was inadequate. Communication from our PM, was poor and many times actually incorrect. Due to our work schedules, we could not be available onsite every morning, to discuss plans with the project foreman for alignment and relied on the PM support. This is an area for Green Scene to improve to ensure scope and timelines are aligned.

I am in LOVE with our Greenscene front/backyard! Scott Cohen has a VERY creative eye for design, and he and his full service company created the perfect resort-like yard for our family! He utilized every inch of space, used the latest technology and equipment, and added unique touches that make our house stand out. I was able to pick all of the tiles, stones, flowers, and plants that suited my desired look, and the finished product is gorgeous! We have gotten so many compliments from neighbors and friends, saying how beautiful our yard looks! It truly stands out! My family and I absolutely love spending time in our backyard! It is also perfect for entertaining. We couldn’t be happier!

I’ll get straight to the point and say I HIGHLY recommend using The Green Scene for your pool/hardscape/landscape needs. Scott and Lisa have built a one-stop-shop that truly delivers with their excellent design, attention to detail, and friendly staff.

The design process was smooth and our designer, Tyler, could not have been more of a pleasure to work with. He came up with a great initial design after our first brainstorm meeting, and tweaked it anytime we asked as we decided to make adjustments along the way, no matter how big or small.

On the project-management front - Diana and Frank were always available to answer any questions and ensure adjustments were communicated quickly and implemented into the final job. They were informed and patient with all of our asks, kept things on schedule, and finished the job in a timely fashion.

When you have projects of this scope and scale that can take 6+ months for larger properties, having a one-stop-shop like Green Scene makes the process much less stressful. They handle all the sub-contracting work for you so you only have to come to them with any thoughts along the way.

Pools & landscapes are a huge investment for anyone and you can rest easy knowing that The Green Scene reps will answer all of your questions, make adjustments as needed, and always be available to ensure your satisfaction is met for anything that may arise - even after the job is complete. They’ve become part of our extended family and we couldn’t be more excited about the finished product!

Updated Review (December 18th, 2024):

It has now been about 8 months since my original review, and after enjoying the space through multiple seasons, I feel it’s important to provide an update on my experience with The Green Scene.

While I still appreciate the overall design and craftsmanship that initially impressed me, some issues have surfaced that are affecting my long-term satisfaction. Several of the plants originally installed have died—beyond the two that were recently replaced. There are around 6-8 more that need attention. I’m also noticing cracks in the concrete and coping around the pool that detract from the previously pristine appearance.

I had specifically communicated that the side of the house experiences significant wind, yet it seems this factor wasn’t fully accounted for in the landscaping choices. Now, as the windy season returns (November through March), the young trees planted there are struggling, stripped bare of leaves. I also requested to avoid mulch in certain areas, but ultimately signed off on its use in the final design. I hold myself accountable for not standing firm on that point, but it remains something I regret not insisting on, given the current state of the landscaping.

Several gaps in the pavers have deteriorated and need refilling, and there are still large, unsightly water stain marks on the poured concrete steps that haven’t faded as I was initially told they would. I’m also still waiting on the BBQ cover that was part of the original agreement.

I emailed The Green Scene in mid-October with detailed photos and concerns. To their credit, they returned in November to replace a couple of plants, but the majority of issues—cracked coping, grout in the pool area, paver maintenance, and the persistent water stains—remain unresolved.

Final Thoughts:
The Green Scene’s initial vision and quality of construction still make my outdoor space a source of enjoyment, and the design itself continues to impress. However, the lack of timely follow-through on these lingering issues and the slow pace in addressing post-completion concerns has been disappointing. I’m hopeful The Green Scene will take more proactive steps to honor their commitment to quality and help restore my confidence in their work.

I am thrilled to share my experience with The Green Scene, whose exceptional work has transformed my property into a breathtaking outdoor sanctuary. From the initial consultation to the final touches, their dedication and expertise have been evident every step of the way.

The project, which encompassed both front yard landscaping and backyard design featuring a pool, spa, and outdoor kitchen, spanned approximately 12 months. Throughout this time, The Green Scene team exhibited unwavering professionalism and craftsmanship.

The front yard landscaping exudes elegance and curb appeal, seamlessly blending elements of nature with modern design. Each plant, stone, and pathway was meticulously selected and expertly placed to create a harmonious and inviting entrance to my home.

We used Green Scene for a total backyard redo -- redesigning an existing pool, adding a Baja Shelf, fire pit and lounge area, all new app-controlled equipment, new landscaping, BBQ and bar area, patio covers, landscape lighting, etc. Their team is cohesive, creative and attentive. They worked with the city and local Homeowners Association to obtain all permits and kept us well-informed of their scheduling plans. Having done any number of activities over the years, we have learned that no major construction like this is ever completed without some bumps in the road and scheduling issues. Yet our main goal was to have everything done for this summer's swim season and they achieved that. Attached is one "before" and several "after" pics. In summary, Green Scene is a class act...not inexpensive by any means...but you get what you pay for...first rate design and execution!

My wife and I recently remodeled our home, making it contemporary and soon after we decided to look into redoing our front yard, both landscape and hardscape to match.
Twelve years ago we contacted the Green Scene to remodel our backyard. That experience was so pleasant, we did not even have to think twice as to who to hire for the front remodel.
We called Scott Cohen and he came to the house to get our thoughts and look at the yard. We gave him total freedom to design the front except two musts. He had to include our two favorite trees, a beautiful Brazilian Pepper and a very mature Olive tree and he had to incorporate a water feature.
Two weeks later, we met with Scott. We really believe he is a design genius. He nailed it on the first drawing. It was exactly what we asked for and much more.
The Green Scene team is wonderful. They are professional, courteous, tidy, and left our home every day clean and they really limited all the inconveniences as much as possible.
The project is now complete and it turned our home more beautiful than we ever dreamed and most importantly our two trees look as if they were always part of the design.
We get compliment after compliment from our neighbors and even total strangers. We often see people stop in their cars to take pictures. We could not have asked for a better experience and never dreamed that our end result would be so perfect.

I can't say enough about the positive experience I had with Green Scene Landscaping. From start to finish the experience was nothing but pleasant. Scott came to our house and looked at what we were working with. To me it was a dirt lot being used to store weeds and garbage. To Scott it was a canvas he could paint a dream on, and the portrait he painted was way beyond my expectations. They show you the design in Virtual 3D before you decide to proceed. And it's not some generic pool laid over some generic house. It's Scott's vision brought to life from your suggestions and his creativity right in a model of your house in full color that you get to walk around in with the virtual reality goggles! During the whole process you'll go to their office a few times to pick out colors, coping, pavers, plaster and other things I can't remember. All of which is in their show room for you to see and touch. It's fantastic. If you don't want to drive all over the place looking at pieces of your puzzle, then this is your company. I could go on and on about the whole experience but I'll just touch on some very key points and let the before and after pictures speak for themselves.

Scott himself: The President of the company comes to your house every couple of weeks to check up on you and your progress. If you're not happy with a choice you've made he'll have suggestions for something else. If you want to add something, he'll be ready to go over the merits of your idea and the placement of it. It's the kind of personal touch that makes you feel good about your decision to use Green Scene.

His crews: Professional, courteous, neat and quiet. With the exception of equipment that is, by nature noisy, I heard no raised voices or loud music. Both things I've experienced in the past with contractors.

His office team: Responsive, courteous and helpful. E-mails I sent were answered in a timely manner. Phone calls I made were picked up. Texts I sent were responded to. What more can you ask for?

Inevitable problems that will almost certainly crop up: I had another company come and install fencing and gates. (Green Scene doesn't do fencing and gates, unfortunately) They did a great job but there was a problem. The latching systems they used were not up to code and we couldn't pass inspection until it was rectified. Frank, the foreman on my job, did everything in his power including being the go-between and assisting an entirely different company to get them changed out. It wasn't even his work and he still went out of his way for me. This is the kind of unexpected service that gets your company a positive review from me.

I couldn't be happier with my choice of Green Scene to make my pool a reality. It's something I've wanted since childhood and the reality is even better than the dream and I have Scott and his team at Green Scene to thank for it.

As new-build home owners, we were concerned about finding the right people to build our yard from scratch. As we knew it would be a long journey, we're glad we chose Greenscene as our landscaper. We were in good hands throughout the entire 7+ month process. We felt comfortable throughout the whole process because the crew members were kind and genuine. Scott is funny! And his design is brilliant! We found it difficult to picture certain parts of our yard to be both pretty and functional, but Scott made everything make sense and coherent, from our front yard to our backyard. Throughout the design process, our requests were always applied well, and even small changes that happened later were taken care of well.

Scott is an amazing designer and he will give you unique design for your home. He has so many ideas! Our neighbors often stop at front of our home and tell us that our yard is the best. And, they haven't even seen our back yard! Greenscene was very professional and detailed in every way. I had terrible experience before with contractor so we were very cautious for this project. If you have decided to build pool & landscaping in Westcliff Porter Ranch community ; I do recommend to compare the quality & workmanship of other builders( they all have signage ) to that of Green Scene by just walking through the community. Undoubtedly, you will see the poor quality of work from all other builders. My wife I walk through the community & we are surprised to see such a bad quality of work from other builders !!! . However, Green Scene does the job with good faith, perfection & outstanding quality in terms of hardscaping .

I could not be happier with my experiences in dealing with Green Scene Landscaping & Swimming Pools. Although I initially was only looking to get my pool redone and maybe get some hardscaping replaced, after seeing the designs that the owner Scott came up with, it quickly turned into a complete redo of the whole backyard. Aside from Scott’s beautiful designs, the structure of the company was very impressive to me and every person I dealt with at the office was on top of it and a pleasure to deal with. I was informed at every step of the process and the supervisor on the job, Frank, was always there when needed to answer my questions. We were so impressed with our Project manager Angel, in honor of the extra steps she had to take to get the equipment for the waterfall feature, we named them after her, Angels Falls. In addition, every crew that worked on the project were top notch and very courteous. I found myself just staring out the window marveling at what they were able to do and how they did it. It’s quite the process. As you can see from the pictures I’ve posted, we started with a very plain backyard and ended up with an oasis that we now spend more time in than ever before. Thanks to the whole staff at Green Scene for making this happen.

We are Green Scene clients for life. And we know Green Scene will always be here for us. If we could give a 6 star review, we would. Green Scene did a tremendous job creating a backyard oasis for us. To be honest, better than we ever expected. My wife and I decided we were going to undertake a pool/backyard/front yard renovation in 2020 – yes, in the middle of a global pandemic. It was a dream to completely renovate our backyard for many years but it never seemed like the right time, so we decided to start it at arguably one of the most difficult times. Why not just jump straight into the deep end? We interviewed multiple contractors over the spam of a year, reviewed proposed designs from each contractor, and there was no contest. Scott Cohen’s design and vision for our property was eye opening and incredibly exciting. We started in mid 2021 and had our finished project by March 2022. Amid pandemic induced supply shortages, Covid closures, permit delays because of Covid, stay at home orders etc., Green Scene managed to handle everything with skill, efficiency, smart management, and also some heart. The office knew this project was important to us and provided the human touch of reaching out during this time and making sure we knew what was going on every step of the way. Scott is creative, decisive, and his unique design made use of every inch of our backyard in a way that feels super custom, practical, and truly beautiful. He knows the pool business and we were correct in putting our trust in him. We have been told by so many friends who have seen our completed project that they cannot believe how much bigger our property looks (without moving a single retaining wall). Shawn was our project supervisor and always responded to issues as they arose (and issues always arise on any project). He was customer oriented, always listened to our opinions, and made sure our needs were met. Randy knows everything about plants and met us at nurseries to help us select landscaping. Delfino and his team were immaculate in how they handled our landscaping project – working extremely hard on weekends when necessary. Willie and his team were detail oriented and made sure that the hard scape and bbq area were done well and on time. Every subcontractor was also timely with expert workmanship who respected our property and the job site. That is not easy to say considering how many horror stories we heard from friends and their construction nightmares. And Angel and Janet in the front office sent us weekly emails letting us know what to expect for the week, responded to every email and text (and we sent MANY) and made us feel that we were always seen and taken care of. In the end, we have a backyard and a pool specifically geared to our needs – a 51 foot lap lane, large area in the pool to play games and hang out, a bar table in the pool with a built in umbrella hole, large spa, in-pool bench seating enough to throw a major pool party (as our kids have reminded us many times), two fire pits, multiple sitting areas, a built in bench, an outdoor kitchen, a beautiful water feature near an outdoor living room, perfect evening lighting inside and outside the pool, and a large dining area under a beautiful trellis, where we have already had many lazy al fresco summer dinners with friends and family against the perfect backdrop. There is no doubt in our mind that this project will bring our family closer and has already made a huge difference in our quality of life. As long as you set a realistic budget, keeping a cushion for furniture, lighting, pool man and equipment and unknowns that may arise, Green Scene will work with you to stay within that budget. It is worth every penny.

In choosing a company to completely renovate our back and front yards, our objectives were clear – find a well-respected and reputable company capable of handling every element of the project from designing, building, and all steps in between to best fulfill our wish of being an absolutely fantastic space for entertaining our family with 2 young children and extended gatherings of sometimes 100+ people. We issued our challenge, wanting clear features of our yard to try to squeeze the most out of it possible - to make it… awesome.

After discovering that Green Scene had done a number of projects in our neighborhood, all of which turned our great, we decided to give them a call. Scott Cohen (owner) came out and gave his info session/learning our wants/sales pitch. He may have come on a little strong, but, as we would soon find out, Scott was able to back-up his lofty pitch with a clear demonstration of expertise, know how, and, most importantly, being able to blend his clients desires and imagination with his years of experience to create something magnificent.

Once construction began, it was clear to us that we made the right choice in company. The workers showed up promptly each day, worked hard, were always extremely professional, and all extremely skilled. Green Scene used a combination of their own employees and some specialty trade subcontractors. They all seemed to work well together and were all very well managed from the Green Scene office. Overall, we were extremely impressed by the workers who worked tirelessly to make our yard as amazing as it turned out. These guys were fantastic!
The timeline was fairly close to the schedule that was initially presented to us – despite all the rain toward the end of the project which they worked their best around. Sure, during the project we had our occasional frustrations, but, what’s a project without that? The Green Scene folks are busy and sometimes, a few reminders are in order. Fortunately, any issue was minor and was always quickly resolved. There were a few unexpected discoveries that increased the initial quote – cracks discovered in the pool and needing a larger gas line. We believe Green Scene charged fairly for these unknown items and did not see it as an opportunity to price gouge. During the course of the project, we added a few things here and there which affected the overall budget, but, that was our decision. All in all, everything was kept clean and transparent with very little that was not already taken into account at the beginning. Even after I paid in full, the small fix-it items were done promptly without any frustrations. The project went about as smooth as these projects can ever go.

Once the dust settled, the equipment left the site, and the workers went home, we were left with the yard of our dreams. Every wish was fulfilled, we cannot be happier with the outcome. As for the investment we made, it will pay dividends. No, we do not plan to ever sell our home, but, this is a yard that our family will cherish for years. This magnificent new yard brings us all outside to enjoy the quality family time to spend together. In this day in age, anything to pull the kids to get outside, to explore and to play, to use their imagination, to laugh and to live makes this entire project completely worth-while. Sure, we could have selected a company that quoted less or promised to do it faster, but, in the end, this is not a time to cut corners. Simply put, Green Scene works with a higher level of skill and experience than anyone else we were able to find. Every time they start a project, it is clear that they are putting their entire lofty reputation on the line and they will work around the clock to ensure that they don’t disappoint. Without hesitation and with the upmost confidence, we highly recommend Green Scene to transform your outdoor living space into one beyond what you can ever imagine. We are so proud to now be part of the Green Scene family.

Our newly built home needed the front yard and the back yard, neither one was developed by the builder. We wanted a modern design and went with the Green Scene because we liked their projects and preferred them to the ultra-modern black and white designs offered by other developers. Scott, who was our designer, managed to come up with a design that was both modern and warm.

We found it important that the Green Scene did both hardscaping and landscaping. The plants were never an afterthought and the greenery was naturally incorporated into the design and was an important component of it. Our backyard theme was a “green enclosure” and that defined the hardscaping as well.

It was our very first yard development project and it was great to be able to rely on Scott’s extensive knowledge and experience in the business. We did several iterations during the initial design, and Scott was able to turn our ambiguous thoughts and desires into a concrete design that we absolutely loved.

The Green Scene follows all the rules and regulations and everything was done by the book. The Green Scene got all necessary permits and shared with us the paperwork. This gave us a peace of mind, because we have heard many stories of homeowners having problems with an HOA because of work done improperly or without a permit.

We were very impressed with the Green Scene crew mastery and workmanship. You can see examples of their work in the photos that we posted. Foreman Frank was great to work with! We appreciated his knowledge, attention to detail and positive attitude. The whole crew was very nice and courteous, which was great because it was a long project and we partially worked from home. Folks at the Green Scene office were very professional and nice to deal with as well, Lisa, Ismael, and everyone.

During the construction process we realized that some additional things would be nice to have and were able to add a number of upgrades. In each case, Scott considered the scope changes in the context of the overall design and offered us several options to choose from. Some of the upgrades were quite challenging, for example, tiling of the loggia ceiling with large heavy tiles. These upgrades are now some of our favorite things about the completed project.

The Green Scene always made sure that we were satisfied with the results and had redone multiple things without charging us for it. For example, a long wall along the pool was tiled. When we did not like how it looked, the Green Scene tore the tiles off, let us choose the ones that we really liked and installed them without any additional charges. The original work was not bad by any means and the Green Scene did not necessarily have to redo it, especially for free, but they did it. This happened several times, the Green Scene also redid the finish of the patio table, replaced front yard plants and an orange tree to make sure that we loved the final result.

It was a big project, it took a while and there were delays, especially the ones caused by waiting for materials and permits. The completed project, however, was worth waiting for. For example, we are glad that we waited for specific artistic pavers that we wanted instead of going with different ones to speed up the process. We are very happy with how our project turned out. Foremost to consider before signing up with a contractor is to first investigate the financial strength and longevity of the contractor/company. Green Scene has been in this industry for over 30 years and has the financial capacity to continue working even during economic downturn. Other companies during pandemic laid off their workers but not Green Scene. Our community of about 300 newly built houses were victimized by several contractors who did not finish the agreed work. Some of them went bankrupt or simply ran away with deposits and other advanced payments. Unnecessary anguish and extra expenses can be avoided by hiring a contractor and company with a history of longevity and integrity. Green Scene in had no complaints from BBB. Green Scene contract details were clear and correctly detailed. (Helps avoid confusion & misunderstanding down the road). Deposit required and payment details going forward were tied to completed work.
Our first virtual meeting with Scott was very positive and confidence inspiring. His demeanor and all-around knowledge made us trust Scott.

Scott’s office and personnel were very professional. We met Lisa, Scott’s wife. She was very nice and felt like she was an old friend. The office has all the material samples that will be used in the project design. This allowed us to inspect the quality of the materials and colors to our liking.

The project design was Professionally done with correct architectural and engineering specs. The design elevated our previous boring facade to a first-class inviting frontage so much so that a neighbor from another street copied our frontage.
I casually mentioned to Scott, “How nice would it be to have a pickle ball court”. Scott did not say a thing and on our 2nd meeting, I was surprised to see my dream pickle ball court” in our revised project design. So, this is where the impossible becomes possible with Scott. Our house has an equestrian trail, and it comes with specific rules and restrictions. Scott found a way to incorporate my pickleball court that met HOA and City approval. I knew it was a lot of extra work to get a permit from the city. You see, it’s important for Scott to know that he made his customer happy even if “he has to move mountains”. Scott believes each customer is unique and not just a number. Scott can’t be satisfied unless he knows his customer is happy.

Scott's Horticulture expertise came as a fun surprise. Although my wife knows this area more than me, I was impressed by the depth of Scott’s knowledge when it comes to plants and trees.

Masterpiece. Scott has the eye of Leonardo Da Vinci. I see how proud he is for each project and design. I feel our project is one of a kind and a masterpiece creation. He makes sure it is unique, and still fulfills our desires and dreams. For those who were able to visit, the first thing they say when looking at our backyard and Infiniti pool was “WOW”.

Green Scene came back many times and completed all the “touch up” requests we asked. We were super happy.

Pertaining to cost, we were lucky to sign the contract in November 2022 and although the project did not start till fall 2023 due to unavoidable permitting delays from the city, the price quoted for us were honored notwithstanding the price increases in the year 2023. The quality of the material and finish were superior quality compared to our neighbors who may have paid lower price but “cheapened look “. Our costs were fair and comparatively cheaper than others with the same quality and finish. Hearing from our neighbors’ various complaints from poor materials and low quality of the finished product, we are confident not only we saved money, but we also avoided the stress and anguish they experienced from their contractors. This alone was worth it to have Green Scene as our contractor.

Green Scene described themselves as the “WOW Factor”. I describe Green Scene as my “Customer Happy Factor”.

"The Wow Factor Contractor." This could moniker could not be more true. We recently completed our dream backyard renovation with The Green Scene. We have had several construction projects recently and this was, by far, the best company we have ever worked with. From Scott Cohen to Shawn, our project manager, Johnny, Delfino and the entire Green Scene staff, everyone made it seem like we were the only project that they had at the time. From our first meetings with Scott, with his vision and design, we had no doubt that this project would be a beautiful success. Despite over a month of weather delays and endless dealings with the city, for permits, The Green Scene kept the project on track. They turned a beautiful design into a great backyard where we are proud to host weekly gatherings for family and friends. The Green Scene turned our house into the place to be. From the luxurious pool with 52 foot slide, to the immaculate landscaping, the Sport Court, the built in barbecue and the elegant lighting, we cannot thank The Green Scene enough. We are eternally grateful for their work and would recommend The Green Scene as your first and last stop when looking for landscaping and pools.
