I called American Arbor about my Magnolia Tree that was suffering. They told me all about my type of tree, it’s possible problems, asked for pictures of the tree. So I sent some far view and close up. They got back to me within minutes with advice to hopefully fix the problem. I appreciated the advice very much and look forward to hopefully saving my tree. Fertilizer and better water management were recommended and seem to make sense because we replaced the lawn around the tree with drought resistant plants.

We have worked with Matthew Moore for about ten years. He is a well-studied arborist who works to maintain the health of our tress. His horticultural knowledge comes into play when he advises us on our various trees. We have a mammoth Fruitless Mulberry which covers our front yard. Matthew and his son Michael do the necessary shaping and pruning to direct the growth. He has worked on our Red Birch tree and Ash trees. He knows how to keep trees healthy and looking great. Matthew is upfront about the cost that it will take to get the job done. He is responsive to texts and phone call and is an all around interest person to get to know.

Matthew and Michael and their crew do excellent work. They are prompt and professional and reasonably priced. I highly recommend their service. You can count on their deep knowledge of local trees and top quality work.

After we purchased our home in Davis in April 2019, Matthew introduced himself as the landscape architect and arborist of our beautiful yard. I found him very knowledgeable, thoughtful, and flexible to work with. He and Michael are careful, efficient, and hard workers, and his results are imaginative and stunningly attractive. They've planted new trees, pruned and maintained existing plantings, and removed a few trees that were no longer viable, as well as mulched the yard and managed and repaired the irrigation system. I highly recommend American Arbor Tree Care.

American Arbor Tree Care Professionals provided great service. They completely transformed my entire front yard landscape. Excellent customer service and the product they produced well excided my expectations. American Arbor has fair prices and quality work. I have used other tree care professionals and American Arbor is by far and away the best company I have come across. Mathew Moore and his son Michel were great. They got the job done quickly and efficiently. I really appreciated that Mathew didn’t try to sell me on any additional work, in fact he convinced me that I didn’t need some of the work done that I had initially requested. I hired American Arbor Tree Care and they did a fantastic job! I am very impressed. My place looks great. They are incredibly knowledgeable about all plants and trees, and gave me great advice. Mathew has over 40 years experience as an arborist, and knows his stuff. They trimmed the trees and plants exactly as I was told they would. I looked at other companies, and their rates are very reasonable. They even did extra work that they didn't charge for because they knew it needed to be done. Very professional and kind. They cleaned up the entire place afterward, and left it in better shape than it was before, which I really appreciated. I would highly recommend them. I will be using them again soon for landscaping, as well as irrigation services, as they have a lot of experience and expertise in that area as well. I now know I can trust this company to go the extra mile for a reasonable price.

Pro service. Very knowledgeable. They don’t just prune (or haphazardly hack up) but carefully care for your trees. They thinned some very large and damaged trees for me. They look great and healthy. They withstood horrendous winds. The health of the trees is always upmost. Most of the very large trees were over structures and all the work was done without incident The cleanup is always great. I highly recommend them, you will get thoughtful, expert tree care.

They did a great job. They were on time, polite, and cleaned up really well when they were done.

Michael Moore, Shayden and crew were great. They carefully removed some large limbs that were over our roof and pruned the trees, skillfully preserving as much as possible. Their climbing and rope skills are impressive. They left our yard looking better than they found it. Great work!

American Arbor provided an excellent consultation to remove a massive limb over the house and maintain the overall health of the tree. Of course working with a licensed arborist is essential for a tree so close to the building, but I also appreciated Mathew’s knowledge and explanation of the tree and the work. Every bit of mistletoe was carefully removed and treated to discourage regrowth, all deadwood removed, and the gigantic limb over the roof was methodically and precisely taken down with no problems. All around great experience with American Arbor!

I had these guys trimmed my tree and they did an excellent job. They were courteous, thoughtful, making sure they protected things on the ground around the tree, and cleaned every thing up when they were done.

We enlisted the services of American Arbor a couple weeks ago (Aug. 2025) to trim four overgrown trees on our property. They were very professional, offering an estimate in advance and being very professional in conducting their job. The outcome was excellent and we are very pleased. American Arbor recently removed mistletoe from one of my trees and put on a treatment to slow future growth.
Initially, I had called to get an estimate on trimming 3 trees that had been trimmed 3 years ago. Matthew told me that trees don't usually need to be trimmed that often. I found him to be very knowledgeable and focused on the overall health of the trees. He is the first arborist to tell me this. Others were happy to get paid for work that may not have been necessary.
On the day of the job, Michael and his worker were professional and quick. Michael was great to work with!
Going forward, American Arbor will be my tree guys. I have full confidence in them.

My neighbor and I worked with American Arbor for tree trimming and removal on two properties. They were very communicative throughout the process, I particularly appreciated how they walked me through all of the options in-depth and allowed me time to make my decisions at the pace I needed.

American Arbor just pruned our two big trees, one a sprawling mulberry and the other a large elm, and we couldn’t be happier about the quality of their work. Michael really understands how to preserve the integrity and health of trees while opening up the canopies and allowing more light. They also roped down almost every branch so as to protect our gardens. Really they went above and beyond and were extremely easy to work with, responsive, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

The American Arbor team did an outstanding job trimming maples and taking down two diseased redwood trees. They cleaned everything up and left the areas immaculate. Michael and Shayden are awesome!

American Arbor did and excellent job in pruning all of the trees on our property and removing a couple of other trees. The trees were in a real need for professional trimming and now they look so much better. They also provided tips on trimming and suggestions for some future landscape work. They were very easy to work with too.

American Arbor trimmed trees and cut a tree root in my yard. They did a really nice job. I appreciated their patience in explaining things and I didn’t feel like they tried to talk me into work I didn’t need. They were professional and fast, too. I just had an outdoor kitchen renovation done and was concerned about the new work being damaged while they were working. I asked them to be careful around the new renovation and they were. I plan to continue to use them in the future. Thank you!

Matthew Moore, who passed away last week, was delightful, a walking encyclopedia of trees, plants, and their compatibility. As he made a plan for my yard, I felt like I was listening to Greek [I barely know the common names of green things]. His son Michael, who is equally knowledgable and has taken over his father's company, completed the job. They removed 11 Italian cypress trees that were incompatible with my giant Sequoia plus additional trimming.
Michael and his crew did a great job with the cutting and removing. They deserve five stars because they also cleaned the mess, including tree debris from the pool. I am hiring Michael to landscape the area with the missing cypress. Michael is a tribute to his father.
