Home Services reviews in Encinitas, California

Have had interactions with 5 of the employees over the past 2 months. They couldn't have been more knowledgable or helpful. I came looking for 10 specific roses that I had grown 40 years ago. They were able to find 9 of them.

Pleasant helpful crew. Have had only one "swing and miss" out of many visits. Came in to check status of an order - was apparently not entered correctly. Was assisted by Benjamin, who was well informed and helpful. Found us the right specimen, got it confirmed.

Everyone was helpful and friendly. Especially Dana. I found so many colorful things for my garden, plus products for my roses and spray to get rid of pesty June bugs.

TAKE THE MONEY & RUN ! In the 6 years we have lived in Solana Beach we have gravitated more towards small nurseries like Armstrongs in Encinitas and Del Mar rather than waste our time at Home Depot or Lowes looking for healthy plants. Generally Armstrongs have been okay. On Wednesday afternoon I phoned here looking for a couple of Milkweed plants to feed our Monarch Butterfly Caterpillars. A guy named Barry politely answered the phone and said he would go check to see if they had any Milkweed plants. We bought 2 very healthy 2 gal Milkweed plants for $30 each about 2 weeks ago at their Del Mar nursery. Barry said they had about 10 plants and when I questioned him further if they were healthy new plants..he responded that they looked good and were about 2 feet high. It was about 4.30pm but we decided to scoot over and grab a couple of these plants. It took us only 15 minutes to get to the place and we walked straight up to the service counter and mentioned we had spoken with a worker named Barry about Milkweed plants. The female cashier at the counter pointed to an area near the fence and said they are over there. We walked over to be confronted by 6 very sad looking trimmed back dry half dead looking Milkweed plants...and yes for $30 each. We were very disappointed in the misleading information given to us over the phone. These plants were survivors from their last shipment a couple of weeks ago. We picked out the 2 best looking plants and hauled them over to the service counter. I was determined not to pay full price for Milkweed plants in very poor condition that had not even been watered that day. I ranted a bit about this & that and the female cashier relented and gave us 10% off. Still not a good deal as these plants were not even worth $20 each. I don't think we will be giving our business to this location again !
OH NO ! Every healthy Monarch Butterfly Caterpillar ( over 30 ) we transferred to these sick looking MilkWeed plants died on the plants before becoming a Chrysalis ! -
This place is great for all of your gardening needs and especially my wife’s favorite place to go. Our husky loves to see Brian (a sales associate) there as he’s a dog lover.

Been in to this location multiple times as of late. Each time I have had the pleasure of working with Brian. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and has provided exceptional customer service. Armstrong’s is incredibly fortunate to have such a passionate and helpful employee. Keep up the good work.

The folks who work here are experienced and knowledgeable. Quality plants and hardscape items in stock. Garden tools and trellises, decorative pots and planters. Have any questions? Just ask anybody on staff. They are happy to help everyone from the novice to the masters.

Bought a lovely red Baron peach tree at an ex lent price but how to get it home without damaging any red buds? My thought was to lay it down but they suggested placing in the reclined front seat. Yep, it worked great. He knew how to support it so it was secure. Happy tree. They work as a team to give you the best service.

I love this particular Armstrong Garden Center. The staff is extremely helpful. I buy all my outdoor plants here. Plus, a lot of the plants are warrantied. They replaced one of my rose bushes that died under warranty. It's well worth going here.

Excellent selection of shrubs, perennials, annuals, etc. They have a very knowledgeable staff. Just a great place for your garden needs. Extremely pleasant grounds. A little pricey, but you get great advice and high quality in return.

The staff here are helpful and kind. I am an avid gardener and frequent visitor here, in part because it is so pleasant to deal with the staff, especially when I have something specific in mind. I like the buyer's choices for cards and gift items when I need something special and am not even really looking. They inspire me to purchase so I am prepared for holidays and birthdays ahead of time. Fun place.

I've been going more often recently and I've noticed the store is very well stocked and organized. It's easy to find what you need and if not someone will be right there with a wealth of information. Even with the influx of customers the employees remain helpful and friendly. I will continue to shop here as I learn my way around the garden!

The staff here is very helpful and friendly. The product selection is unique and fairly broad. This should be a stop on any plant or landscaping enthusiast's supplies run.

Beautiful store, lots of selection! A little pricey, but their plants are all in great shape and well taken care of! Lots of decorative knickknacks and planters/pots. Tons of choices for plant fertilizer and soils. I spoke to one employee about some Crape Myrtles that will not bloom, he was super knowledgeable and told me what fertilizer it needed and why it needed that specific one. It would be great if they had a little more variety of indoor plants. They have a lot of them, but only a few kinds.

Its a pretty place with pretty things.
Decent plant selection not over the top. I know COVID has seemed to affect the pricing of everything but this trip I found the cost of the plants and supplies simply over the top. You can do better elsewhere. The one advantage this store has however, is advice from people who actually KNOW about plants and that is a definite plus.. -
Armstrong Garden Center in Encinitas is my favorite place to buy anything for gardening with friendly knowledgeable staff. I've taken free classes there and learned so much! Excellent place to learn about Organic Gardening!

After being ignored at the Home Depot down the street I went here. The prices were actually lower and they had just what I needed. I think I was lucky, too. But the service was very good. I hate to go spend money where at places where I'm regarded as a bother. I like to spend money at Armstrong where they make me feel valued.

Polly the manager found a mistake on my receipt from another armstrong for items labeled 50% when I was actually charged 30%. She took the time to go through my entire receipt to correct the price on every item. They always ask if I need help finding anything. This location is right next to the Carlsbad Flower Fields and I can usually find a nice selection of Ranunculas there.

Great service and quality plants and garden supplies.

Friendly and helpful people working there.
When I went they had different California native plants that I hadn’t seen before.
The only reason why I give it 4 stars is many of the plants I bought there were root bound. I gave them all a good root washing and they are doing fine so far, just a heads up for novice gardeners. -
The customer service is outstanding! We live in Temecula (which is 40 miles from this location) and were shopping for some hard to come by Drawf Cypress Trees. We were in the area when we called 15 minutes before closing and Gary answered the phone and said they had two in stock. We asked if they would wait for us as we were going to arrive there a few minutes after closing. Gary and Brian waited for us and had the trees waiting there when we arrived. Thanks Brian and Gary for going the extra mile! We’ll be back!
