Reviews of local pros in Loomis, California

I had three companies give me a bid and Gary was the only one that really listened to what I was looking for, and gave his advice as well. My yard is absolutely beautiful. He was a pleasure to work with and his team was very hard working and very careful in cleaning up when they were done. I would absolutely recommend this company to work with.

We discovered Holt Landscape at one of the home and garden shows at Cal-Expo. They answered our questions and said they would contact us after the show. They did. They came out and we showed them what are vision was and asked for their expertise to make it happen. We took a small backyard with mature trees and plants and created an oasis. We changed the patio to pavers and extended the size, added a water feature, a small elevated nook, a gas fire pit, and landscape lighting. Reynaldo was our foreman and he was amazing, very communicative with me and his staff. We had dogs that needed to share the outdoor space; Reynaldo would let me know when they would be on site and when they took lunch or were leaving for the day. Everyone was respectful of our home and of our neighbors. For the occasional hiccup, everything was addressed and handled professionally. We love our yard!!!

We enjoyed working with Gary to create our designer's vision. His crew chief Reynaldo was good to work with as well. We had to make alterations to the design as time went by, and Gary's suggestions were useful. There were several delays in receiving materials so the project took longer than anticipated, but we got what we needed in the long run. Gary is a helpful guy and open to our requests. We'd recommend him to our friends.

We recently received multiple recommendations for landscaping and went with Holt Landscaping. Gary is extremely professional and knowledgeable, was very communicative, and helped us resolve any questions or concerns before, during, and after the landscaping process. Our back yard came out gorgeous!

Thank you Gary!

Would we rehire Holt Landspace? Yes, in a heartbeat! And, we will if relandscape our backyard.

There are not enough superlatives to describe how much we enjoyed working with Gary Holt and his crew in changing our front yard from a traditional lawn and shrubs to a pleasing drought tolerant one.

From the first encounter at the Home and Garden Show in Auburn this summer, we thought he would be easy to work with and extremely knowledgeable about plants and hardscape, which turned out to be the case.

After contracting with Gary, many people validated what a great choice we had made. It was reassuring to hear the paving stone suppliers say that Gary was a pro and would steer us the right way.

To our mind, the work converting our front yard was completed extremely quickly and at a fair price. That said, the crew installing our elegant, curved pathway did a painstaking and professional job.

We could not be happier with the experience of working with Gary and the outcome.

Holt Landscaping’s service is great. Gary discussed options, took our input seriously and provided a very detailed quote with line item costs so we could tailor the project for our budget. His crew did a wonderful job. They were on time and cleaned up thoroughly each day. We are looking forward to beginning a new project next spring with Holt Landscaping.

Holt Landscaping did our entire backyard several months ago, and we're still 100% satisfied. They installed lawn, concrete, plants, flower beds, rock, and wood chips. From planning the layout to completing the project, it was abundantly clear how much Gary cares about his customers and wants to deliver a product that they will actually love. We had considered several other companies in the area, and ultimately it was confidence that Gary would look after our project as if it was for someone in his own family. He did, and we couldn't be more grateful.

When we decided to do a "refresh" of our front yard, we were given four recommendations for landscape contactors. After interviewing all four, (and they were all really good options), we decided to go with Holt Landscape. It was definitely the best choice for us! Start to finish, Gary, and his crew, were knowledgeable, responsive, polite, and on time, each and every day of the project.

As the project progressed, we asked for a few changes to the original design. Gary was open, honest about the feasibility, suggested alternatives, and was forthright about the costs. We have received nothing but positive comments from neighbors, (and random people walking by our yard). We highly recommend Holt Landscape.

I’m thrilled with the work Holt Landscape did for me. They renovated my backyard – curved redwood deck with surrounding curved rock wall on two sides; pergola with lights, ceiling fan, misters and retractable canopy and shades; two water features; new grading, irrigation and drainage; flagstone walks; and extensive soil preparation, planting, and shredded bark cover. Gary Holt, the owner, was easy to work with. He was friendly and professional in his business dealings, he knows his stuff and is a problem-solver, and he was good at answering my questions and explaining anything I didn’t understand. The installation crew were skilled – even artistic - at their work. They were hard-working, neat, quiet and cleaned up at the end of every day. It was a good experience and I highly recommend Holt.

Holt Landscape delivered on upgrading the exterior of our late-80’s home into a modern living space. Our project included a new driveway and front entry, a redo on side and rear yard drainage, new retaining walls, complete demo on old landscaping, and creation of multi-use backyard living areas, effectively extending our indoor living space to the outside, and extending the outside landscaping to be part of our interior design.

The centerpiece is a water feature we turn on daily, which we can enjoy whether we are inside or out. There are two distinct relaxation and entertainment spaces, extending our family room to the outdoors for dining and living room outdoors to enjoy with family and friends.

Holt Landscape brought the feeling of the Sierra Mountains, which we love, into our Roseville backyard. Landscaping is coordinated while rustic at the same time. As requested, the plantings by Holt Landscape attract hummingbirds and butterflies (without bothersome bees!).

Out front, Holt Landscape creatively enlarged our driveway within the old landscaping-concrete footprint, increasing parking and turnaround) space while at the same time modernizing curb appeal and creating a warm welcome to our home.

We were looking for a single-source solution to execute on our vision. Holt Landscape delivered, coordinating all aspects of the project at construction, and now, a year later, giving us a low-maintenance environment we enjoy daily.

We met with Gary Holt after being "ghosted" by another landscape designer...which turned out to be fortuitous! When he came, we walked him through what we wanted, which was quite a bit of work. He took that back and after a week or so provided us with a quote. In addition, we had some items as optional, pending our budget at the time of the project.

After we approved and sent a small deposit, we scheduled a tentative start date, which was about 4 month out (during Covid days, everything takes longer). As we approached the date, I contacted Gary and he asked to push out a couple of weeks due to other projects taking longer than anticipated. That was fine with us...as mentioned, these things don't go so smoothly anymore!

Anyway, after that short extra delay, the workers all arrived and work got started. The workers on the team were awesome. Friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and detail oriented. Gary was often out there, checking up on stuff and making sure we were happy. As work progressed, we had a payment play in place and that's how we went.

The worst part was the pergola we wanted was delayed, repeatedly. That's not Gary's fault. At the end, we agreed to order 3 similar ones and take the first one that arrived. It did, about 6 months after the rest of the work was done, but once it did, the team came and installed it and we couldn't be happier!

Overall, we are truly enamored with our new backyard! It's our oasis and Hold Landscape Inc brought it into being. It did take patience...and like some people have mentioned, communication can sometimes not be that great, but based on my experience and other people's (who hired other landscapers), that's kind of the way it is. Regardless, Gary always got back to me.

We could not be more pleased with our new backyard. Gary and his team are meticulous landscapers who worked closely with us throughout the entire process. They even suggested several improvements to our professionally-designed plan, which we gratefully accepted. Highly recommend these professionals.

Holt Landscape (Gary-Owner and crew) did a fabulous job on our backyard. He was very knowledgeable and responsive when we had questions. I just love the raised planter boxes they built. They are waist height and perfect for planting, weeding and harvesting! They used high quality materials on everything and we couldn't be happier!

We recently had the pleasure of working with Gary Holt at Holt Landscaping to completely redesign our front and back yard. The redesign included pavers, sod, lighting, planting, drainage, irrigation, etc. I can confidently say that my experience exceeded all expectations. From the initial consultation to the final touches, Holt Landscaping showcased a level of professionalism and dedication that is hard to come by.

One of the standout features of this company was their exceptional communication. Gary was always available by phone, text or email. He kept in contact with us weekly, providing updates on progress and discussing any adjustments or decisions that needed to be made. This transparency made the entire process feel collaborative, and it was comforting to know that we were always on the same page. Gary kept the stress to the absolute minimum!

The team was consistently on-time, which is a rare quality in the service industry. They were extremely hard working and we appreciated their attention to detail. The quality of their work was superb. The work site was left completely spotless at the conclusion of each day.

Overall, I would absolutely hire Holt Landscaping again without hesitation.

If you're researching a qualified and reliable landscaping company, look no further than using Gary Holt of Holt Landscaping!

I started my search back in March 2025 when visiting a Home & Garden show at Cal Expo. After speaking with a few reps at vendor tables and looking over the program book, I reached out to 7 landscape companies post show to attain proposals. 3 provided proposals but never followed up, 1 said they'd only consider submitting a proposal if the project was $50k or more (I have a smaller yard and, of course, a budget), 2 never replied to my "Contact Us" outreach from their website and then Gary and I connected. He and I met three times to discuss my initial ideas then had follow up communication via email and text. He has a great energy about him and offered some good suggestions to supplement my ideas; he's also a classy guy, offering landscaping services for over 30 years so he knows his stuff.

His crew installed all the plumbing and irrigation for new sod, a small flower bed, plants and trees, including a pool equipment fence and a fun 3-hole putting green. The crowning project was Gary and his team took two sections of our back fence that faces an open field and created drop down tables from the top of the fence, so cool! The crew cut the top half of fence horizontally then added hinges and sliding locks to allow the top portion of the fence to drop down. Gary then suggested installing small posts to the top of the fence to act as table legs that conveniently fall into place when the top of the fence is opened. Now hubby and I can choose either fence to drop down and enjoy a wide open view. I would have included a photo but wasps seemed to congregate near the fence so I'll add a photo later. Gary's crew was great, with Randy as the project foreman making sure all tasks were going according to plan PLUS, he and the crew cleaned up each day they were here!

It's hard to find a company/vendor you can trust to perform quality work. Gary Holt is one person that you can trust from start to finish. I will use him again when we have another landscaping project pop up!

Gary Holt did a great job working with me to scale back a very complicated design created by someone else and yet still provide the peaceful oasis I had originally intended for my backyard. He had excellent ideas, was so patient with our back and forth communication, and kept my bottom line in mind. His 2 workers were efficient, quick, and polite. They cleaned everything up on a daily basis. I can't wait for phase 2 in May when we add a few more details.

The Holt Landscape team did an excellent job on our front and backyard refresh. We wanted to remove the old thatchy lawns with seamless incorporation to our existing plants. Gary Holt came up with a great design that aligned with our laundry list of wants and needs and was on target with our budget. Work started and finished on schedule with demo/removal, new irrigation system front and back, decorative rock and plants as we as small sod area for the pup and grandkids all under two weeks. 5 star service and quality!

Excellent service. Honest and communicates well. Will use again.

Great landscaper!! Highly organized and did a wonderful job. Great at rock work.

Crew, led by Victor detail oriented. My design, their execution. Very pleased!

Great company to work with! Everyone involved were professional, receptive to discussion and tweaks. Highly recommend.
