HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! We hired Onyx General Construction Company for a complete kitchen and laundry room remodel as well as replacing the hardwood flooring throughout much of the house. We chose to go with Onyx after meeting with and receiving quotes from three companies. Sean was very quick in responding to the initial request and providing a quote. The Onyx team started demolition very soon after being awarded the project and made a lot of progress in a short amount of time. Although this project was obviously very disruptive to our daily lives, the Onyx team did everything possible to minimize the impact and the team was very respectful and friendly. They never made any more noise than was necessary to get the work done which I have found to be an issue with many contractors.
We went into this project with very high standards and the Onyx team did a great job of meeting them. There were discoveries and problems and delays along the way, but those are expected with a house of this age. Because Sean addressed these challenges creatively and collaboratively, minimizing the financial impact, we feel like we were able to get the desired results without exceeding the budget. Communication with Sean was always prompt, professional and courteous. We've hired at least six contractors for major projects on this house and Onyx provided the best combination of product, service, and management of them all.

We had a detached two car garage that was basically just a graveyard for old boxes, so we figured converting it into a legal ADU for my mother in law was the best move. Sean was the primary contact for the conversion and he was a total lifesaver when it came to navigating the city requirements for the plumbing and electrical. The finished space is actually nicer than our main house now, and Sean made sure every square inch was utilized for storage. It’s such a relief to have the extra living space finished and looking so modern.

Throughout this year I met a number of contractors to build an ADU in the near future. He came recommended by a friend for his attention to detail, which is very important to me. I did see some of his work (ADU) and I can say his work is beautiful and clean, with the attention to detail that I would expect from a professional contractor. But where Sean stands out among many other contractors for me is in his care and attention towards clients. He is kind, clear communicator, responsive, professional, and patient. He took the time to answer all my questions every time (I had many). He went above and beyond the call of duty to make suggestions on my design (which was being worked on by another company). This level of care for clients and potential clients and his business is rare and what I feel makes Sean a gem in the building industry!

Many people share horror stories about their experience with a contractor but mine was far from that. Sean is a joy to work with. He is very communicative, responsive and flexible. He listens to the needs and desires of his clients and always aims to please. He did excellent work, went above and beyond and is extremely fair. His integrity in all things is top tier and that was very important to me. Honest, trustworthy and respectful. I would hire him again or refer him without question. I love my ADU!

Simon and his crew built an addition on the back of our house . He was always on time and was very professional. Simon's estimates were fair and accurate, and he walked us through the entire process. We had some issues due to COVID and pulling the permits, due to the City staff being slow. However, Simon took care of all of it and constantly kept us updated on the process. This is our second time using Brauner Construction, and highly recommend them.

Great job! Hired Brauner Construction & Realty for an extensive renovation. Added a bedroom and bathroom to the back of the house. The addition turned out better than expected, both interior and exterior. And Simon and his crew made it easy living through the renovation and dealing with inspections. Also upgraded another bathroom and added wallpaper in the entryway and dining room. Loved the results. First rate service.

Brauner Construction & Realty is the best! We bought an old condo that needed some upgrades. Brauner Construction handled the entire job and made the experience easy. They ripped up all the old flooring and put in brand new, beautiful hardwood floors, painted some walls, and remodeled our kitchen from top to bottom. What an amazing transformation! The owner Simon walked us through the process, helped us pick out materials and understand where to spend our money. He was very knowledgable and always available to answer questions. And the finished product turned out great! We're planning to update the bathrooms next, and we'll definitely use Brauner Construction again. Can't recommend them enough!

Simon and his crew at Brauner Construction are top notch! I've hired them for electrical and plumping upgrades in my home and they were extremely quick, professional, and detail oriented. I had a new electrical panel installed and my whole condo re-wired; they patched and painted everything up after, and went the extra mile to make sure the walls looked better than before. For plumbing, I had a new kitchen faucet, garbage disposal and water filtration system installed, all in an afternoon. Will definitely hire them again! Thanks, Brauner Construction!

Letter Four are some of the hardest working people I know! They are A+ professionals. Love their designs and you will definitely get quality work!

Jeremy and Lauren led the renovation of our home in Santa Monica Canyon. The original house was a tribute to 1991 Miami Vice, a big modern white thing with polished black granite floors and shag carpet. Every single room needed to be fixed. They opened up the rooms to let light into every corner, worked with us to make it both kid-friendly and beautiful and were comfortable integrating some of our preferences for specific ceramic tiles, art and metalwork with their design vision. Along the way we discovered ways that the original builder had cut costs and/or parts of the house were simply giving out (old thin plumbing, a structural issue supporting the staircase, etc). These things will happen in any major renovation and it is important how your contractor handles them when they do. Jeremy was great in communicating exactly what the issue was and how we could solve it in a way that was best for our budget and timeline. Wonderful.

We hired Letter Four to do a pretty substantial remodel of our mid-century modern home, which had not been updated since the 1950s. This involved a complete redo of the kitchen and bathrooms, as well as some structural changes. As new homeowners with no experience in renovation or design, we were very nervous about such a huge undertaking! However, we were immediately put at ease when we started working with Letter Four. They were very thorough and allowed us to be as hands-on or removed as we wanted to be. They handled all the permitting, vendors, subcontracts, and ordering and worked through numerous obstacles on our behalf! Lauren's eye for design is spot-on and we basically went with almost all of her choices, without a second thought! Overall a great experience and we would definitely work with them again!

We hired Letter Four to design and rebuild our late 1940's house in West LA. We basically replaced everything: plumbing, electrical, and the entire interior. We moved the kitchen from the front to the rear of the house, changed the roof line, enclosed a deck area and turned it into a master bathroom, and extended the back half. Lauren and Jeremy were very patient and open to our ideas and ever growing wish list. Everything was organized, itemized and well communicated, and our project manager was top notch. The build team is impeccable with excellent attention to detail. Despite only being a residential client in the midst of a lot of their larger commercial projects, they never made me feel like a small fish, and my questions and requests were always quickly addressed. We loved the result, and a few years later got multiple bids well over asking price the first week that we put the house on the market.

An amazing job was done on our home's remodel by the Letter Four team. I don't normally write reviews, but I am so impressed with the work & design that I had to say something. We finally have the space that is truly us and one that is comfortable as it is stylist. I will hire them again in the future.
