    Cheap company

Summary: Despite the 2-3x price tag compared to other quotes, the service did not match the cost. At the end of the day, on every contracting job, the GC plays little role in the actual work being done. This leads to errors, omissions, and oversights that the customer has to stress about, and try to prevent, while still paying full price for subpar service. When accountability came into play, they denied any obligation to complete the job as verbally agreed, citing the lack of those agreed-to details in the written contract. Ultimately, a painfully-small job was done wrong in multiple ways, responsibility was denied, and being paid in full was still expected. Therefore: I do not recommend this team at all. The Details: Lay a tiny 170sq ft of balcony tile. They wanted $16,000+ for labor alone (I bought all the tile). The verbal agreement was 1/16 inch grout, and 1/3 staggered placement. I requested RamBoard for protection. GC informed me that there was a chance he might damage the sub-floor waterproofing. He told me I would have to pay extra for that, if he did. Utterly ridiculous. They were 100% unwilling to negotiate this risk with me. Bad faith behavior. Bad start. Ultimately: 1) They failed to put the RamBoard down until I demanded it again. Basic communication failure to their workers. 2) They failed to lay the tile at 1/3 stagger because the GC wasn’t even on-site during install. And their installer was incompetent. I had to stop him and tell him to start over. 3) They failed to do 1/16 grout or discuss with me the best way to accomplish that visual effect. This I didn’t catch, because I wasn’t on-site. In other words, every single thing I requested on the worlds tiniest job, they did wrong. I told them they needed to redo the tile and give me what I asked for. They just re-sent me the contract which only mentioned “lay tile”, and claimed no responsibility. Unethical behavior. I told them if they were going to force me to pay in full, I would be forced to write a review sharing my experiences. They wanted the money. So here’s the review.

Art is the only plumber I've ever actually trusted. Have been using him for 3 years for everything from clogged drains at a place I was renting to my own house a few years later where I've had multiple plumbing issues.
