We've had our top-of-the-line system installed since 2016, complete with carbon inserts meant to improve indoor air quality and a UV light designed to eliminate viruses. Over the past nine years, we've been loyal Service Club members, relying on knowledgeable and friendly technicians to maintain our HVAC system during bi-yearly visits. However, it seems like a few years ago they stopped swapping out the carbon filters and checking/replacing the UV light that was part of the original installation.

When Michelle called me on November 7th to reschedule our service appointment due to a technician's absence, I specifically asked her to ensure the next tech had the necessary equipment. Alex M, a pleasant young man, arrived promptly but lacked the required carbon inserts, UV light replacement, or proper filter for our HVAC system. Although he pointed out that our blower motor needed cleaning, he offered to do it at an additional cost of $1173 – which I politely declined.

I then contacted Michelle at American AC and Heating, informing her about Alex's incomplete service. She claimed to have checked with their warehouse and would look into the missing items. Yet, more than a week has passed without any updates on replacing the proper filter or sourcing new carbon inserts and UV light units. Instead, I've received repeated emails regarding the $938 cost for cleaning our blower motor.

What's striking is that the same carbon filters are available online from various retailers, including The Air Filter Factory, at a fraction of the price – around $10 per unit. It seems like American AC and Heating has an opportunity to improve their customer service. Their receptionist always asks how they can make customers smile; I'm hoping this review might encourage them to do just that.

I called American Air Conditioning & Heating, and was informed that there would be a $159 diagnostic fee - supposedly to determine the issue. When I mentioned I had previously participated in the special tune-up with guarantee, I was told it wouldn't cover me because I wasn't part of some sort of exclusive club. There was no mention of such a club on the original advertisement or during my initial visit.

I asked to speak to a manager, but never received a call back. Feeling misled and taken advantage of, I'm uploading this review as evidence that your company appears to be operating a scam. I hope others will check out the flyer and form their own opinion. Needless to say, this was not a good experience for me.

I needed emergency heating/AC repair over winter break and called American. They got me an appointment at a convenient time and even let me reschedule when needed. Erik, the technician, arrived on schedule and was pleasant, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. He quickly identified the problem and fixed it, getting the system working again.

The old system in my house is nearing the end of its life, so I'll likely need a new one soon. Given American's good service, I'm confident I'll choose them for the installation when that time comes.
