Be wary of American Air Conditioning & Heating - we had a disastrous experience with one of their technicians. We contacted them when our AC stopped working due to what we suspected was a coolant leak and were initially told it might be coming from the condenser coil.

The technician, George Balogh, visited us for an inspection but didn't bother to open the coil to confirm his theory. Instead, he blamed the issue on a furnace that was incorrectly sized and installed by the original company, leading to pressure buildup. He recommended replacing the entire system at an exorbitant $30,000.

Our unit is 6 years old and has worked flawlessly until now. We couldn't justify paying for a new system, especially since the original company's next appointment was two weeks away during a heat wave. When we expressed our concerns, George seemed dismissive and suggested replacing only the condenser coil, which would have cost $12,000 - an outrageous price tag.

We asked him to leave after that. What's even more infuriating is that had he taken the time to properly inspect the suspected leak source, the real issue would have been immediately apparent: a rodent had chewed through the coil and leaked coolant everywhere. The remains were still visible at the scene.

A competing company was able to fix the problem within a day for a fraction of the cost we were quoted. This technician's carelessness and unprofessionalism are unacceptable, as is his shady sales tactics and intimidation methods. Think twice before calling this company, especially if George Balogh shows up at your doorstep. Their priority seems to be selling you a new unit rather than addressing any existing issues.

A loud, piercing sound from our water heater at noon today caused quite a disturbance, not just for us, but also our neighbors. I called the office and was told to shut off the alarm, which I did. The service rep arrived on time at 4 PM and got straight to work. They explained why the alarm went off in detail and then proceeded to seal the unit's case tightly. Not only were they efficient, but also very professional - a great asset to this company. Despite our initial frustration, their expertise made the experience much more manageable.
