Just had these guys remove a large pine tree that was starting to do some damage to the concrete at my shop. Very professional and did the removal quickly without disrupting my business.

I hired JR's tree service last year. They were friendly and they did a good job. They cleaned up well.

We would highly recommend this company to do any tree services. They are very efficient, good communication, finish an excellent work on time. We liked their work very much.

Eric gave me a schedule for 5 days later and he wanted to show up 2 hours earlier cause he was around the neighborhood and I wasn't at home. He said he won't be able to make it for his appointment. What an unprofessional and disrespectful to clients. He didn't even try to reschedule for a sooner time when he learned that there are other companies ready to give me a quote. So you just offer high prices. Slacker.

I've lived in my house for nearly 40 years and was using a company that was sold to a very large multi-state service company a few years ago. Their service was OK at the beginning but ultimately became the worst. Thankfully, after researching a ton of companies I found JR's on threebestrated.com. I needed someone with some good landscaping knowledge and a "good eye" to help me select two trees to replace two the other company planted which were not suitable. JR came through with flying colors and the pruning was excellent. JR's took care of me and will be my "go to" company from now on. I highly recommend them.

Had my palm trees cleaned today. They did a great job.

We had a great experience with JR's Tree Service. We needed someone to trim, top off or remove our pine tree so we requested quotes from several companies. We heard about JR's Tree Service from other families in our son's school and we always see them around Pasadena working on different properties so we asked JR's Tree Service for a quote too. Jesus dropped by and listened to what we wanted done. He told us what type of pine we have in our backyard and we discussed all the options including the effect on the tree (and price for each option). We decided to trim the pine tree instead of topping it off or removing it completely. He then gave us a written quote.

On the day his crew worked on the tree, they covered the fence and turf/putting green near the tree. After they completed the job, they made sure to clean up and haul away all the debris. Our pine tree now looks good and we are happy that we no longer have mounds of pine needles in the backyard.

*Prior to selecting them, I actually looked up all the companies that provided quotes to confirm their license status, etc. so all companies were pretty much equal in this regard. Jesus is a certified arborist (I verified his credential with ISA) and his company is licensed and insured (also verified). Price, availability, and reputation around Pasadena were the primary reasons we selected JR's Tree Service.

They removed two dying trees from my moms house in Altadena. They were very professional and are coming back later in the year to plant some new trees for her.

JR’s pruned a tall eucalyptus tree on the property adjacent to mine. JR met with us beforehand to tell us what to expect, which he said would be minor broken limbs on some of our plants in the area below the tree. So far, so good. JR leaves and the crew gets to work.

A short while later, we look outside and one of our trees is basically broken in half. The crew dumped so many big limbs onto it that three major branches cracked under the weight. The tree basically lost three years of growth due to their negligence.

We ask the crew (who were not wearing hard hats) to stop and call JR. He comes back and agrees with us that the damage was more than he expected, but basically says ‘nothing we can do, it’ll grow back.’

We tell JR that we would like their insurance info so we can file a claim for our trashed tree. He tells me ‘oh that’s only for broken windows or something, can’t we solve this another way?’ After conferring, we tell him we want to go ahead with the claim.

He says fine and tells me he will send me the info. He didn’t send it. I remind him. He says he will send it. I tell him I’ll go after his bond if he doesn’t send it. He ghosts me. So now my insurance agent is filing a claim on his bond.

So just know that while they seem to be pretty good at pruning trees, I wouldn’t trust them based on my experience.

Best Tree Service Company in Pasadena! I had JR come out after another tree service company made a bit of a mess "cleaning" our trees. JR explained how they thin and shape a tree based on the type of tree and its health. he really took his time with us and I am so happy with how our trees look now.

The best tree service company in Pasadena! We had Jesus come out to look at the large pine trees growing in our front yard and were concerned that one was getting to close to the house. They were able to clean up both of the pines we are keeping and remove the one that was close top the house. when they left the yard looked great.

I am a garden designer in the Pasadena/Los Angeles area and I love working with Marvin and his team to make my client dreams a reality. Marvin is easy to work with. Communicates clearly. His prices are solid and reliable. In an industry where pricing and quality of work can often be disproportionate, Marvin offers a great value for clients who want to know their contractor stands by their work at a fair price.

We had a fantastic experience working with Marvel Landscapes! From start to finish, Marvin the owner, was incredibly communicative—always quick to respond and transparent about the process. They took the time to understand our needs and even offered some cost-effective recommendations that helped us stay within budget without sacrificing quality.
The crew was professional, efficient, and respectful throughout the entire project. They worked quickly, cleaned up thoroughly, and delivered results that went above and beyond our expectations. The attention to detail and overall quality of work truly impressed us.
Highly recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable, thoughtful, and skilled landscapers. We'll definitely be using them again for future projects!

Very friendly and helpful staff. A little hidden, missed the parking lot. Seems to have everything for the yard (my first visit). Decorative pots for small plants, very limited selection. But to repeat - very helpful staff - which is everything!

This is my to go place for my gardening needs. They have a wide variety of succulent plants, flowers, vegetables, and herbs. Lots of pots and garden decor as well. Staff is very knowledge and helpful. I've been going here for years and I've appreciated the good pricing and knowledge they've shared with me!

Every time I go to Armstrongs, their displays are so beautiful and inviting that you get inspired to plant more, add more pots or just breathe in the refreshing air. I had to ask a few specific questions about particular plants, and the woman working there answered them expertly. I love their indoor plants -- they live for a long time, too. I understand they have a forgiving return policy, too. It's a pleasure just to walk around there, like a lovely garden.

Nice selection of plants, reasonable prices, great people! Manager, Tom Johnsey makes sure everything goes well. He is honest, helpful and knows a lot about plants. His staff are great, too. He had Debby and Alex assist when I ordered (from the East Coast) a slew of plants for an anniversary in Pasadena. Debby worked hard to find the right plants and arrange them (even sent me pictures), and Alex carefully delivered them and set them up at the site. The plants were beautiful, and just what I wanted. Quite a feat, considering the order came from 3,000 miles away. Tom and his team are super.

You want a plant, or want to know more about a plant, then come here. The staff here will help you find the right pot, soil, tools for your gardening needs. This was my first time and it was great to see the selection and quality. So much better than big box garden centers. Will come back for more down the line.
