HVAC reviews in Placentia, California

Recently the logic board from the HVAC system that Econo Air installed was a problem and I called them to get a price quote on the part. I received a scripted answering service and they refused to give me a quote over the phone. They said they needed to send out their repair person to diagnose the problem even though I already had the problem diagnosed. I went round and round with the scripted service "sales" person and attempted to escalate it to a manager. The manager refused to take the call and the scripted service attendant said they would return the call within 24 hours. The call was not returned. I will not do future business with this company and I suggest you take our business elsewhere. Their "policy" is not competitive and is all about lining their pockets of unsuspecting customers. Buyer beware. There are many competitors who would be willing to give great customer service. Five star reviews from other reviewers is suspect. This company has demonstrated nothing near five star service.

Crew showed up as scheduled at 7am. 13 hours later my home has new a/c heater. Financing available. Mike, the owner is very professional and knowledgeable. (Quite the salesman as well) The crew was very professional and friendly. If you are upgrading your systems I Highly Recommend Econo Air!

I called Econo Air because my furnace was intermittently blowing cold air while on heat. The service tech disassembled parts wires but never used a multimeter to check anything at all. He then left for over an hour to purchase parts at the local hardware store. After returning he stated that a new gas valve would be no less than $1,000 and there might be other problems with the unit. He said that it would be unwise to invest my money into my furnace what I really needed was to buy a new unit. Over three hours later the tech's "manager" showed up. He then showed me pictures of four units they carry. I felt that this company I had been loyal to for over thirteen years wouldn’t rip me off. I was then persuaded to purchase a new furnace for $6,350 believing my old furnace wasn’t worth repairing. After they left I opened the furnace cover to discover that some of the components were still took apart and none of the wires were connected. How convenient, I wasn’t even able to check if the heat would turn on. Two days later I had another company come out to give me second opinion. The second company hooked the wires back up, screwed components back in, turned it on, and voilà it worked. The second service man told me I didn’t need a new furnace and I was getting taken advantage of. I should get ten or more years out of the one I already have. I looked Online and Econo Air was selling me a unit for 3X the normal asking price installed. I was sent an invoice that has nothing filled out, no model, or serial number. If any of the normal maintenance checks were done why weren’t any of the boxes checked off? There is nothing on the service order telling me why I supposedly needed a new furnace in the first place. My gas valve was tested and is in normal working conditions and a new one only costs around $120 Online. Econo Air you should be ashamed for taking advantage of this disabled senior citizen on a fixed income. I’m wondering if legal action should be brought against this company? Luckily my family and I didn’t get sick from the cold weather. I will never do business with them ever again.

I used this company for a repair as my hvac was not working properly. They did the repair and gave me a 1yr warranty roughly $3,000 which is quite high. No more than a month later my hvac malfunctions again so I call them to come fix it as I had a 1yr warranty and according to them the new repair was not covered. Instead they send me a sales rep to get me to buy a whole new system. Why didn't this get repaired the first time I paid for service vs me having to deal with a "non covered" issue. Buyers be aware!! They will trick you and it will cost you more regardless. I ended up having to buy a whole new system which was not purchased through them.

My father had a central ac and heat unit installed in 1994. I called for service because furnace not blowing hot air. Econo Air suggested replacing the whole unit at a cost of $12k+. I need to get some other estimates before considering in replacing a whole new furnace as this is quite an expense. Otherwise, Ricardo Lopez was polite, very helpful, and he called to let me know that he was on his way for the appt.

Econo rescheduled appointment until next Thursday January 21. New duct work was installed on Feb. 3. Crew worked hard and did a great job!! We have heat again!! We have used Econo Air for many years and remain happy with your service.

Econo Air did a very good job replacing the AC in my home. Great care was taken to insure that no damage was done to the house and cleaned up after the installation. Even though the job took over six hours, they crew didn't take a full lunch break by eating on the go. They also didn't leave untill I understood the new thermostat that was also installed.

We had three contractors look at our 20+ year old failing AC system and advise us on what we needed to fix and/or replace to make it functional and reliable again. Two told us we should replace almost everything, i.e., the condenser, coils, line set, and furnace. They proposed running the new line set through the interior of the garage, where it would be an eyesore. One of the two was extremely expensive. The second was reasonable. The Econo Air representative said there was no reason to change out the relatively new furnace. He went into the attic and determined that a new line set could be run through it, so that it would be almost invisible. His price was almost the same as second one.
On the day scheduled for the work, less than a week later, a crew of 5 to 7 guys showed up on time and did all the required work in about 12 hours. They were polite, competent and hardworking. They took care to keep all working areas clean. Every little detail was nicely done. At the end of the day the new internet connected thermostat was set up and explained. Everything seems to work well. It is fair to say Econo Air exceeded our expectations. We would recommend them to anyone. -
Dylan of Econo Air was perhaps the most honest interaction I ever had with a service company. Would definitely recommend for others to consider hiring a Econo Air for their AC needs.

We replaced our stock system with Econo air more than five years ago when they had the Costco contract. We prepay our half yearly maintenance (fall/summer). I have not been disappointed yet with their service and feel confident that they’ll keep my AC/furnace running for years to come.
Our technician, Ryan, took the time to explain everything and provided additional options for preventative maintenance yet wasn’t coming across as overly aggressive.
Thanks -
I reinstated a yearly maintenance program for my air conditioning and heating system with Econo-Air. I had no problems, but wanted my AC checked out. I was told that I needed about $1,000 in repairs, but since my air conditioner was 15 years old, he suggested that I invest in a new one instead. I had another company come out for an estimate. The sales person told me that my that Lennox air conditioner should last 15 more years. He said that he wouldn't even recommend having a service person look at it, if I wasn't having any problems. It would be a waste of $140.

Have used other companies in the past, but I never felt comfortable with those other companies. I was recommended to Econo Air through a family friend. They came out and gave me a estimate on a full new system. They gave us time to think about it and we decided to purchase the system. The install guys were very neat and explained everything that was being done! We are very happy that we decided to go through with the install! Great company!

Mike and his team at Econo Air are amazing. We just had them out to install a full A/C system at our house in Newport Beach and they did a fantastic job. They worked hard, kept me informed, showed up early, and stayed late to get the job done. We could not be more happy with their professionalism, and quality - HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company.

I've had an excellent experience working with Econo Air! We have a 1960s home and had been living there with limited AC functioning for the past several years. I received a few quotes from different companies, which went as high as $36K, but through Costco and Econo Air I was able to get a brand new Lennox system, duct work, asbestos removal, and zoning for an incredibly reasonable estimate. The team that came was extremely professional and the entire system was replaced within two days. Recently, we've had AC issues with another property we own in Riverside and Econo Air has been prompt, diligent, and professional. We plan to continue using Econo Air for all our AC/Heating needs and repairs going forward.

It makes me sad to write this. I’ve been a loyal and trusting customer for 18 years. Econo installed my system 18 years ago. I’ve paid for two annual checkups almost that whole time. I’ve always made any repairs they’ve recommended. But the last several years the service has degraded. The technicians are nice but not very knowledgeable. At least two times in the last four years they’ve told me my AC needed to be replaced only to find out it didn’t. The AC continues to work well. The technicians are not familiar with Nest or Nest wiring. I had to send them an article about the wiring. At first they were reluctant at to take my advice because they “are the experts”. When they finally did as the article advised they were thrilled. The lead technician told me he had no idea and that this would be helpful with their customers. Then this latest technician found water leaking from the ac coil/pan and suddenly we were talking about a $14k ac replacement. I had two companies come out the next day. Both offered bids of HALF that price! The second company found the drainage tube was clogged and that fixed the problem all together!! Thus saving me $7-14k. The Econo tech admitted he didn’t check the line! Are you kidding me? I called and asked to speak with Mike, the owner, and his people told me he won’t call “he doesn’t do that anymore.” This is a business owner I’ve supported for 18 years but he’s “too busy “ to call me back. F that and F Econo Air. I’m out! I suggest you stay far away from this company. Their business practices are suspect at best.

I had my new HVAC system installed on 01-03-25 and so far my experience has not been a good one. The system was not programmed correctly, other equipment was lacking a power supply and when supplied it was not for the equip installed which I was told was equip they stopped using 6 yrs. ago. The equip to monitor my new solar was not installed, I had to ask for it. Lastly the outside equip was installed in an undesirable location (per them) and when they came out to relocate that they damaged the exterior of my wall (BTW the house was painted less than 1 yr ago). These are the major issues. Hope they can turn this experience around on their next trip out.

We had a serviceman come to our property, for which we were charged $99 USD - which is fine. Unfortunately, the issue was not resolved during that visit, and we were instead presented with an estimate for $3,995 USD.
To compare estimates, we had another serviceman visit couple of days ago for a analysis and estimate (offered it even for free). They were able to identify the issue and restore proper function without any additional charges. -
Thorough, personable, efficient, professional, and punctual. Appreciated his time and expertise in helping us figure out the next steps for our air conditioner units. He wasn’t trying to sell us hard and was understanding of our practical needs. Thankful for his expert knowledge and time.

I couldn’t be happier with the service I received from this HVAC company! The crew was incredibly efficient and professional, and I truly appreciated the meticulous care they took to protect my property, including the stairs and walls throughout the installation. They were also pleasant to work with and worked seamlessly to install my upgraded unit with separate zoning, which is perfect. Now that my child is off to college. I don’t need as much heating and cooling upstairs anymore. Everything was left spotless and it was such a relief to come home to a warm cozy evening after week of unusually cold nights in Southern California this was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend them to any one needing HVAC.
