California Smartscape replaced our aging concrete patio, the concrete around the pool and added a sidewalk with beautiful tinted concrete. They contoured the patio to improve drainage.
Our aged pool plaster was resurfaced with a pebble that makes the water a beautiful color. We chose new tile and coping. The steps were enlarged at Leo, our project manager’s, suggestion for ease in entry and a place to hang out. Especially for our grandchildren. An automatic pool filler was added, which we love. Our existing planters were filled with luscious plants. Lighting and a drip system finished it off.

Everyone we worked with was professional, cheerful, easy to talk with, readily available, on time.

We couldn’t be happier with our new yard!  From start to finish, the CA Smartscape team (led by Andrew, Leo, and Krissy) was professional, responsive, and truly cared about getting every detail right. They transformed our space into something far beyond what we imagined — the pool, hot tub, and landscaping all came together beautifully and on schedule.  We were actually so happy with the back and side yards that we added scope to renovate the front as well.  The plant selection was outstanding, and the incorporated lighting makes it feel so lux.

Communication throughout the project was excellent; they kept us informed at every stage and were quick to address any questions or adjustments. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail are top-notch — you can tell they take pride in their work.

Our family now spends nearly every evening outside (and we entertain a lot) and it feels like we have our own private resort. We would absolutely recommend CA Smartscape to anyone looking to create an incredible outdoor space.

Would give 6 stars if I could. From start to finish, we could not be happier with California Smartscape. Andrew carefully studied our lot, listened to our wants/needs and planned the landscape of our dreams, all the while considering our budget. Project manager, Leo, executed masterfully and thoughtfully suggested additions to the plans that were beneficial to the layout - we could always count on him. Krissy has incredible knowledge and worked so hard to provide us with just the right plants. Our yard is so aesthetically pleasing - I smile every day when I go outside. Reuben and crew were extremely dependable, timely, courteous, and hard working. The job was finished on time - amazing. And, finally, Crystal was a pleasure to work with and kept the business end well organized. Would highly recommend to anyone.

What an amazing experience. Start to finish the staff at California Smartscape were professional, responsive, respectful and worked extremely hard to get our backyard project completed on time. We had a great experience with California Smarscape from initial design to project completion. We have a small backyard and our main goal was to maximise the space, make it look modern and baby friendly. We shopped around but Andrew and his team provided the most unique design that no one else thought of which really opened up the space and made the yard feel much bigger and most importantly the proposal was within our budget. Everyone we worked with was very knowledgable and knew their side of business very well. Picking out material was the hardest part and the team walked us through all pros/cons of products and costs associated with it and not once tried to upsell. They were easy to work with and final project came basically on budget. Our project manager, Leo, was always available for questions and very responsive. All workers that took part in demo and remodel were great - professional, very considerate of our property, knowledgable, showed up on time and cleaned up all trash/debris upon leaving the site each day. We had a slight hiccup in timing primarily due to material being on back order but otherwise it all came together very nicely and we are very pleased with the final result. Our backyard is so much more functional, modern & beautiful, and our toddler loves running around and playing outside. Definitely recommend California Smartscape for anyone looking to remodel.

We highly recommend California SmartScapes! Andrew, Krissy, and all the team helped us navigate a highly complex backyard project that consisted of hard scape and landscape to meet our pool installation and waterfall wall requirements. We had lots of needs: Japanese garden with a fountain, turf, concrete, and lots of landscaping! They were attentive to details, made sure that the work was quality, and stood behind their work, even after installation. We enjoyed working with them and got a lot of insight from their expertise and experience. We would love to work with them again for our next project!

We are in love with our backyard! Working with cal smartscape and team was so easy and they were extremely responsive. We couldn’t be happier with the work California Smartscape did on our landscaping project. Our home sits on a complicated, multilevel foundation and every other contractor declined the project due to its complexity.  Andrew and the Smartscape team embraced the challenge and delivered an outstanding design that incorporated all our needs.

The project included a full pool remodel (replacing crumbling 70s brick), new concrete, a safe and modern upper deck off the second story, a refreshed entryway, and a new outdoor living area to replace an unsightly and unusable wooden deck. Andrew’s 3D model helped us visualize the final product and he worked with us to incorporate slight tweaks in the design based on our knowledge of the space.

Smartscape also phased the work so we could prioritize the pool and upper deck first. Leo, our project manager, was incredibly responsive and kept us involved in every decision. The finished pool is stunning with dazzling PebbleTec, modern coping and tiles, and our old jacuzzi was transformed into a luxurious jetted spa with smart lighting. The sleek, modern decking materials not only look amazing but give us peace of mind with everything up to code.

The biggest transformation was replacing the outer wooden deck with a retaining wall and turf, creating a large fenced-in play area for our kids—something we never had before. Now we have space to kick a ball and have outdoor family movie nights.

We started this project trepidatious, knowing that most contractors go over timelines and over-budget, but Smartscape completed everything in just a few months, with expert craftsmanship and within budget. Truly a five-star experience!

We had a full backyard project with hardscape, landscape, BBQ island and pergola, and pool and spa. We also had a general contractor to build a 450 sq ft ADU. Leo was our “quarterback” for the project and moved the project along as quickly as possible. He made it seamless for us, the owners, and communicated well throughout the whole project. We spoke to Ryan last week regarding an issue with our heater. He offered to check it out. Arrived promptly and was able to fix the issue very quickly. The rate was reasonable and we are very satisfied.

I've been a customer for almost 8 years and am very happy with the service and value. The regular pool chemical treatment and cleaning keep it looking great. When I've had problems with the equipment, they respond quickly and get it fixed too.
