Landscaping reviews in Richmond, California

Stay away from this company. I had worst experience dealing with them. I love dong vegetable gardening , however this time due to a back surgery , I was unable to do that, hence I hired Jeremy. I ended up paying them more than 1500 for planting 5 tomato's , approx 10 squashes and couple of cucumbers in the already made raised beds. They don't grow anything from seeds. Extremely disappointed and am left with this uneasy feeling of being Conned.

We had an amazing experience. After our consultation, Jeremy worked with me to refine the scope and figure out the best use of the yard space given our requirements. Jeremy and Aaron were prompt, friendly, and easy to reach if I had questions. They were very clear on what they were doing and why, and helped guide us to make good decisions for the space. They executed the work efficiently, and were very informative about how things were going and what to expect throughout the project.

Jeremy has been pruning our fruit trees for many years and we are always pleased with the results. He is responsive, flexible and always cleans up when he has finished. I highly recommend him and his crew.

Jeremy and his crew at Edible Ecology are knowledgeable, professional, helpful and prompt. They have helped us with landscaping and pruning for years, always to our satisfaction. Jeremy has a focus on environmental good and sustainability that we particularly value.

I've been working with Edible Ecology for the last four years and am really happy with the service that Jeremy and team provide. We have a lot of fruit trees on our property and Jeremy does a great job pruning them every year so that they are healthy, grow well, and produce a lot of fruit. He is also an expert at pruning our Japanese Maple trees, which were not in great health when we moved in but are now thriving. Jeremy is communicative, punctual, and has always gone above and beyond in supporting our garden. I'd highly recommend working with him, especially when it comes to edible and ecologically friendly landscaping.

We've relied on Jeremy and his team to prune our backyard fruit trees each winter since 2020. They are terrific: skilled and knowledgeable, communicative, reliable, and fairly priced. We initially hired them to prune a very large plum tree (it was so big I didn't know where to start), and they did such a nice job that we now ask them to prune our figs and some non-fruiting trees, too. Jeremy is particularly knowledgeable about permaculture / sustainable gardening principles and he's a great problem-solver. He also helped us repair an issue with our drip irrigation system. So happy we found Edible Ecology.

Jeremy and the team have a wealth of knowledge and it was a pleasure working with them. Really prompt, creative and communicative, Jeremy helped guide us through plant selection and how to go about choosing the best edibles for our yard, while being mindful of our water use and wanting to encourage more pollinators and natives. We felt really part of the process and appreciated the team’s efforts and attention to detail tremendously. Our front yard looks fantastic! He even helped us space plan where a few raised beds could go, and checked our existing irrigation to make sure all was set up properly moving forward. Edible Ecology is our go-to from now on.

Jeremy and his crew are amazing. Jeremy has an amazing knowledge of of permaculture planting and a really beautiful design approach. He and his team came, cleaned up my larger yard, pruned our fruit trees and completely renovated out planting and irrigation setup. We couldn't be happier and couldn't recommend them higher. We have now employed them on a weekly basis for maintenance and upkeep.

I worked with Jeremy to clean up my backyard and address some issues that had been plaguing me for years. Jeremy came up with a plan, gave me options that worked for my budget, and completed all the work quickly. I highly recommend working with Edible Ecology for your landscaping needs.

I really enjoyed working with Jeremy and his team! Not only did they great job irrigating our planter boxes (a harder task than it sounds when two inexperienced gardeners have already filled them with plants willy-nilly), he also gave a lot of useful advice on how and what to garden. His consultation was hugely helpful and made the task of starting a new garden less daunting. He was also very prompt, communicative, and flexible with our space and needs, so an A+ on customer service as well.

Jeremy was thorough and knowledgeable about native plants. Although the plants are newly in the ground, our selections should be in full form by spring and I can’t wait to see how it turns out! He is a joy to work with.

I used Jeremy at edible ecology to fix up the garden of a small home in Berkeley. I asked him for a low maintenance, drought tolerant pollinator garden. He knew exactly what I had in mind. He drew up a plan with a flexible estimate, saying I could do as much or as little as I wanted. He and his crew did the work and have left me with a very pretty, drought tolerant, pollinator garden. I highly recommend them. By the way, they were recommended to me by a gardener friend who uses them for maintenance and is very happy with their services.

We worked with Jeremy and his team over the course of four months to design and build an orchard (and surrounding landscaping) at our home, and the experience was outstanding. Jeremy’s depth of knowledge in sustainable farming was evident from day one — he conducted soil sampling and carefully selected companion plants to help our fruit trees thrive. Throughout the process, he was a true collaborator, open to feedback and quick to iterate on design ideas. His meticulous attention to detail also made navigating our HOA’s design review process smooth and stress-free. The finished orchard not only adds tremendous curb appeal but has become a shared asset for the whole neighborhood to enjoy. We’re already planning to continue working with Jeremy on a maintenance plan and couldn’t recommend him more highly.

The work they do is top notch, the prices are reasonable, and the employees are terrific. Friendly, knowledgable, and hard workers.

That's why they get five stars from me. They have my full support. They're extremely pleasant and professional.

I’m a Bay Area painting contractor, I have been able to see the work BWD gardens is completing at a jobsite, I think the work looks amazing and professionally done, one day I hope to have a yard like the one they are creating and will give them a call myself to come do the work!

Wish I could give them zero stars. They took on our backyard design project. Took forever to get something together. Very uncommunicative and unavailable during the process. The plans they drew up were rejected twice by the city of Berkeley. They do not read what is requested and pay zero attention to details. We wasted a lot of money and time with them. They do not know their stuff when it comes to drawing up plans for even medium sized projects.

BWD Gardens did an amazing job of designing and implementing our beautiful new garden. We did a total demolition taking down a dividing wall and replaced lawns with a native plant garden and a living and dining area covered with pergolas, as well as a BBQ and bar.

Brian Whyte designed a drought-tolerant garden in our small yard, and installed driveway pavers and replaced brick work leading to our front door. I'd been concerned that "drought tolerant" would look like a desert frontier. Nope. Brian created a pretty little garden that fits our locale, and spent a terrific amount of time finding just the right color pavers/bricks to match existing bricks.
I can't say enough about how friendly and charming his team members were, or how attentive they were to details and clean up. We're enjoying the decrease in water usage and honey bees are loving our kurapia ground cover.
The project took longer than we'd have liked — or than Brian would have — but it's done. We have lots of pedestrian traffic in front of our house, and people have gone out of their way to tell us how much they like the new yard/lawn replacement.
Brian returned post-completion to change out the stakes on our young birch trees, making sure trunks have the right support for them to fatten up. Plus: do you love the low, Brian-designed fence that replaced a thirsty hedge? He measured the angle of our roof, then cut stake points to match it - that's a design professional. -
BWD did a great job on our backyard remodel. We were having drainage issues and they figured out where all of the gutters drained and suggested installing two drywells, which did a great job during the heavy rains the last few weeks. They also installed a lovely bluestone paver patio and redid our sprinkler system and built a beautiful, custom bench. Brian and the team were great at listening to our concerns/ideas and suggesting remedies. We are very happy with their services!

We loved working with BWD and hired them to redo our front yard. Our neighborhood has a strict and finicky HOA, but Brian and his team were very patient and flexible as we had to sort out so many approvals with our HOA. During the middle of the project, we had to go out of town for a week and the crew took careful care of everything and sent us pictures of the progress everyday. The communication with BWD was A+, and they answered all of our millions of questions. Brian and his crew were professional, knowledgeable, and the most pleasant team to work with. We are so pleased with our front yard that we are already drumming up ideas for our back yard. Thanks BWD Gardens!
