We hired CD Remodeling to remodel our kitchen. Our foreman, Francisco, was great to work with. His team was very professional, and Francisco offered great solutions to those pesky problems that arose. We also worked closely with the general contractor, Carmit, who secured the foreman and helped us at every step along the way. She went with us to pick out the cabinetry and kitchen island and was always available for any question we had. She also had great ideas on upgrades that we wouldn't have thought of ourselves. It was a pleasure to work with their team.

The thing that stands out the most about Carmit is that she was just as communicative and responsive during the bidding phase as she was throughout the entire project. We had regular check ins on site and via phone throughout the project, including after hours texts and calls when schedules didn’t line up during the day. I never was left wondering if I’d be able to get in touch with her. And when we ran into a few hiccups during the project, she was always open to feedback and took accountability to “get it right.” She also had a crew on site every single day of the project.

"We redid half of our main floor and two sides of the garden level at the back of house. The main goals were to rearrange the layout to have better flow including moving the kitchen and a half bath and adding a deck. We live in the central Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco in a 3 story Edwardian house.
We are very pleased with the quality of the work overall. Brandon worked with our existing styles and preferences and really listened to us. Once the work started the on-site crew was terrific. We moved out for the demolition portion and came back in while the work was very much under way. The crew was so easy to work with and were very neat and thoughtful. The specialists who did electrical, cabinetry and paint were really terrific.

Alex led the onsite crew, and he was easy to work with. Things come up once you open walls and he and Matt kept us in the loop and helped us make decisions keeping in mind our overall goals, budget and timeline.

There were many challenges along the way. It’s an older house and prior to our purchase it was with a single family for around 50 years with only minimal maintenance. The area of the house being worked on had much of the original materials including older siding with no insulation and was failing. All these were improved and an area in the ground floor room that was not originally in scope was handled when they noticed some water intrusion.

We had a heating duct to the 3rd floor no longer being fully connected, causing that room to be especially cold. Podesta was able to fix the heating duct and update the placement of the heating vent in the bedroom to greatly improve the situation.
Designing the layout and flow inside the house required many rounds of designs and trying out different ideas. We landed on a solution that allows for a terrific kitchen layout and flow.
Moving a half bath is a big plumbing challenge and they found solution to allow for the placement we wanted with minimal impact in our low-ceiling garage.

We love the kitchen overall. The retracting doors on the “appliance garage” cabinet are a favorite with visitors. I love the cabinet designs. They really listened and worked with me to ensure all my items would fit. We have drawers within drawers so that everything is easy to hand. In the island we have a great pull out for the cutting boards with a knife drawer just above it. Corner cabinets are always a pain and they helped us find solutions that work really well.

We love the deck and the special beams across the top we requested, a custom pergola of a sort. It’s been so great to have this space and the kitchen window “pass through” is very convenient.

I also love the craftsmanship of the work. The attention to all the details makes the space feel like it’s a part of the home.

Just had them back for another project: renovation of a 2nd floor patio (off the guest room, over the dining room roof). It's FABULOUS. They fixed the roof, put down gorgeous Spanish tile that matches our roof, redid the walls and railing, added lighting and water (so I can have plants up there and be able to water them) and replaced the French doors from the guestroom to the patio. They were meticulous in not damaging the 1920s era stucco scrollwork around the French doors, and even matched the finish to the rest of the house. Beautiful!

Podesta Design Build recently completed a remodel of our bathroom. It was a challenging project because the bathroom was small and had an unusual skylight/ceiling. When we hired Podesta, we knew that the project would be done with care and high-quality craftsmanship because they had completed an extensive remodel of our home 10 years prior. They exceeded our expectations (again) with design, project management, and quality work. The project consisted of a bathroom that had a very low ceiling over the shower, and it was very dark. The solution was to remove the ceiling to use the skylight for additional light and have a vertical decorative tile pattern to create a larger space. Lighting was also used to accent the space to create height and depth. Our favorite part of the remodel is the shower – floor to ceiling tile work and a cutout design for the skylight. It truly makes the bathroom seem much bigger than it is – this was due to Brandan Podesta’s creativity. We highly recommend Podesta because we can count on them for the following: quality work, creative design, customer service, and great project management.
