Nice smaller sized garden specialty store. Reasonable prices, good selection for the size. With less and less hardware stores or neighborhood nursery locations, I like supporting this shop.

Good garden center, but tends to not have a great selection of quality plants - depends on when you go

I visited this plant nursery to buy earth worm but it was out of stock. The staff who I talked to was friendly and helpful. Based on my quick observation the plants look healthy.

I'm continuously disappointed with these peoples checkout process. they always have to type in like 40 different things into their stupid keyboard in order to set up a sale for $5. God forbid there's ever a line, I'd be tempted to just drop 5 on the counter and take my stuff and go!

Sloat Garden Center offers beautiful plants of every variety. It's an old fashioned experience. You get lots of personal attention. Create your own urban jungle!

Terrific selection of outdoor plants, houseplants, and succulents! I purchased a few succulents species and some indoor tools. Great for both new and experienced green thumbs alike!

Not sure if I offended her by asking “how’s it going” or something but Tilly was kinda rude while helping me at the register. I usually have great experiences with staff here and always looked forward to a visit, so this really threw me off.

Sloat garden center in the sunset district is great. They always have all I need and the staff are very friendly and helpful with things I don't know about my gardening adventures. I'm not sure about the other one cause I live in the sunset, but I'm sure it's the same.

So here's the secret about this place. Think of a movie set where
everything appears perfect, the lighting is perfect, the props (in this case plants, flowers, trees and accessory items), are beautifully placed. Think "Production Designer", "Property Master", "Lighting Director," and "Greensman". Now think of your list of things to buy at the nursery. Just as you approach the entrance to the nursery remove your list from your pocket, take one last look then toss it. No matter how thorough you were in putting your list together, the instant you step through the entrance gate into the courtyard, you will see an array of the most beautiful and creatively arranged products you've ever seen. In the twenty-five foot walk to the entrance, you'll be inspired to come up with a new list. Once you step inside the store, you'll notice two registers on the left. Look for Ed, one of the nursery's more engaging and helpfu cast members. Ed is psychic. Besides knowing where things are, he's a mind reader who can just about guess what you thought you wanted, the reason you came in, and what it takes to satisfy you. There are a few great nurseries in San Francisco. There is none better than Sloat on 3rd Ave.. Special thanks to Ed from earlier today.

Super friendly and informative. I'm a 40-ish year old man and a TOTAL novice to gardening (other than mowing type stuff). These folks were totally informative, talked on my level and got me exactly what I needed. No condescending or bothersome attitude!!! So very appreciative of their kind and tolerant help!

Best plants and flowers in the city. It's pricey but worth it. Every Spring I get our plants from here and they last very well. It's a little far but once a year it's not bad. They even give you advise on how to fix issues with plants and pests.

Love Sloat Garden Center! Went to their Richmond location to see if they had items they had/ran out of at the Beach Location near the SF Zoo... they did! Did a same day comparison with another local garden center and found Sloat's prices and plant quality were better. Went back to pick up what I needed.

Sloat, my first choice of nurseries in San Francisco since I bought my home here 34 years. ago. My first stop for plant and garden supplies because Sloat nurseries maintain consistent high business standards, quality suppliers, knowledgeable buyers and educated staff. Noticeable when entering the 3rd Avenue location I frequent most regularly, the plant reorganization this year greatly increased the number of vertical display tiers which enhanced visual grouping of plant specific characteristics and provided more space for them to increase the number of plant species and varieties offered. It is difficult to make significant improvement to a long established high quality business. Sloat Nursery and Garden Supply succeeded in showcasing their beautiful plants for easier selection while increasing the variety of choices. These customer benefits are without compromise to their established standards.

This place is a huge rip-off. The plants are at least twice as expensive as other plant nurseries in the area. $60 for a hydrangea shrub, $30+ for a fern, $70 for a small monstera. Do yourself a favor and go to Clement Nursery less than a mile away. They've got a bigger selection and the store is more charming as well.

Surprisingly huge selection for being tucked away in the middle of a neighborhood!! We were blown away by the choices here. The plants are def more on the expensive side, but the pots are so reasonably priced that we buy almost exclusively from here. I'm jealous of the neighbors who live so close, but it's probably for the best that I live further away because wow I could blow a whole paycheck here.

GREAT garden center - larger than you might think for the neighborhood that it's in and easy to miss because it's in a residential block. The staff, on the other hand, acted like I was intruding in their space and on their time... Maybe they were having a bad day.? I will go back because they are close to my home and, well, because they are a "Sloat" nursery which typically stands for quality...

In these times, when we all have choices of where - and how - to receive goods and services, often the only thing that sets two businesses apart is the quality of customer care. And that includes more than replacing or refunding a defective item. It begins when one walks through the front entrance.

In searching for the perfect house warming gift. I did a search for nurseries and low and behold this place came up! This store has a great selection of plants and pots. I also finally got my act together to repot a plant and I found a nice pot to compliment my household. I'll definitely be back should I need any other plants.
