Constraction reviews in San Jose, California

Andres, his son Christiano and team did an excellent job of placing the new concrete in my backyard. This includes getting the right grade, slope and digging the trench to put the new drain pipe. Andres and his crew were always responsible to keep the pace clean everyday after they finish the job. They work hard to get the clean end result. Overall we are very satisfied with Hernandez concrete quality work and would strongly recommend them for anyone's concrete and landscaping needs.

Andres is a godsend. He takes pride in his work. He was accommodating, efficient, and experienced. I highly recommend him . He deserves 10 stars.

Hernandez concrete (Andres and his team) have done several jobs for me. Recently built foundation of my ADU.
Good quality, fair price, on schedule delivery, great personality and customer service are among many others which makes him the five-star. -
Hernandez Concrete did sidewalk, driveway apron, and curb repair for me. The work was excellent and to city code. He kept me informed about when the work would be done. The crew was large enough to complete the job in a timely fashion. He also came back after the work was done and paid for to fix a problem with my neighbor's drain.
-
Andres is a hard working individual.
He has excellent customer service skills, and he attends to your needs. His team is friendly to work with. I would use Andres service again in the future without any hesitations.
Recommended Andres Concrete service
Thank you Hernandez Concret team !!! -
I contacted Hernandez concrete to re-do my 3-car large driveway in Milpitas. Andres came the next day after my call to give me a quote, the price was very reasonable and he and was able to schedule me within just 3 weeks later, weather permitting. He and his crew did a fantastic job for a quick demolition, setting up the rebars, raising the PG&E box, making new trench for the drain pipe of the gutters, as well as preparing for a small retaining wall on the side...
On the concrete day, he came with a crew of over 10 people, 3 concrete trucks came early and they were all able to get it all done in just 5 hours.
A week later, when the concrete was dry and cured, they applied color to the trims and wet look sealer.
The final results came up excellent and beyond my expectation.
I highly recommend this company for any concrete work. -
Our 1950s house suffered major termite damages. Needed to build a stem wall to elevate from ground level to rebuild the walls. We also had a huge crack on the patio concrete floor due to a broken sprinkler pipe. We interviewed several concrete / foundation companies and when Andres showed up, he just put us at ease. He's knowledgeable, communicated clearly his approach, provided a timeline for the job and the price was reasonable. Hernandez Concrete exceeded our expectation. Not only does Andres completed the job with the highest professionalism, ensuring quality work, he completed the job ahead of time as he could arrange a concrete pour within hours instead of days. That's what I call a PRO! We are grateful to have the pleasure to work with Andres and his dedicated crew. They executed the job with great attention to details, the clean up was impeccable, they truly are proud of their work. We will definitely call Hernandez Concrete again and would recommend them to anyone with full confidence.

I had a great experience working with Andres and his team to tear out the front yard grass and redo my driveway. I was able to review different gravel options and also picked out plants his team helped install along a weed barrier. He was quick to provide a very reasonable quote and the team completed work cleanly and efficiently. They always left my place dust and dirt free after each day.
I appreciate how flexible Andres was with design changes, answering questions, and his input/experience with the overall appearance since I’m not too familiar with landscaping or concrete. It turned out great and was done in less than a week.
Overall I would highly recommend Hernandez Concrete and would definitely work with them again in the future! -
Everyone is asking us about the ADU that we built in Santa Clara. My answer is simple: just look at the construction. ADU Builders Bay Area is more expensive of the 3 contractors we interviewed, but if you look closer, you see why. The insulation is R-21 while the code is R-19. The soundproofing in the shared wall is so good we can’t even hear our tenants. All the plumbing is premium brand fittings, not builder grade. From contract to key, the project did take 11 months due to a long permit review. There were delays that were infinitely frustrating. A year later with zero callbacks or issues and a tenant who loves how solid everything is, I don’t think about the wait anymore. They built for long-lasting quality, not just to check a box. If you’re going to own this property for a long time, that quality is an investment that pays off every single day.

This was our first experience with an ADU project, and in all fairness, we had no idea what we were doing. A friend of ours who had just completed a similar build suggested we contact ADU Builders Bay Area, so we at least explored it and called for a consultation. I'm so glad we did.
Right from the beginning, staff had everything appear so much simpler. We met Andrew, who went out and visited our property to give us a tour. From the moment we got there, it was clear he was an expert. He went through everything that we could actually build, what we could actually do, and how the entire process was going to work from simple design concepts all the way through to permit approval, inspections, and final construction.
The most impressive thing was that they did not just give us a cookie-cutter response. They listened to what we needed and took the time to fully understand, and even offered some creative suggestions for how we could best utilize the space and create lasting value for the property. We had originally thought we would simply build something basic, but with their input, we have a configuration that works for our lifestyle much better and actually adds to the overall equity more than we expected.
The process itself was incredibly smooth. The staff handled it all, negotiating with the city, getting permits, arranging for inspections, and keeping us up to date at each turn. We were never left in the dark, and they were quick to respond whenever we phoned with a question. It was just such a relief not to have to chase someone down or dig through confused paperwork ourselves.
Looking back, I'm thankful beyond words that we didn't go the route of contracting with a general contractor and attempting to piece things together ourselves. ADU Builders Bay Area did this project and not only made it possible, but even enjoyable. The ADU well-built room that we're proud of — and best of all, that we know was done properly.
Huge thanks to the whole team. We’re already thinking about doing a second unit on another property, and there’s no doubt in our minds who we’ll be calling when the time comes. -
Our project was not easy. We have a giant oak tree with a protection order and our lot is sloped. It’s a nightmare. ADU Builders Bay Area solved it with confidence. Their designer came up with a great wrap-around design that preserved the tree and the slope. Construction was hard, and the foreman, Hector, told us everything they were doing to safeguard the tree roots. Yes, it was costly. Yes, it was time-consuming. But they built us something that was unique and beautiful. It was worth every dollar and every day.

We converting the garage which originally accommodated two cars in Sunnyvale was the first step for us to modernize to a JADU. After several other consultations, we decided to go with ADU Builders Bay Area as they provided the most comprehensive proposal. Transitioning to the construction phase was very swift. However, on the public agency side, we experienced delays on the permits for the project. During this time, Jessica, our project manager, was very understanding of our concerns. Nevertheless, the quality of the craftsmanship is outstanding, the added unit is a wonderful, legitimate rental, which is helping us cover a big part of our mortgage, and for that we are very grateful.

ADU Builders Bay Area completed our detached unit in Palo Alto as promised. The budget was clear, and the timeline was realistic. The final result looks professional and is ready for use.

At the outset, we only wanted a rudimentary studio ADU. We received exactly what we wanted with no deviations, a basic and wonderfully constructed ADU. Everything went as planned. Their entire crew maintained a level of professionalism and courtesy rarely seen in construction projects. They stuck to the updated schedule and finished on time, with the only potential delays being on the side of the permitting authorities. What we spent was reasonable and the outcome matched our expectations, ultimately receiving what was promised.
Thank you, ADU Builders Bay Area. -
We decided to build an ADU for my sister, who just moved back to California. She wanted a bit of privacy, and we wanted to keep the family close. ADU Builders Bay Area helped us create a floor plan that worked for both the property and her needs.
The design phase was collaborative, and they patiently handled our changing ideas about layout. Construction had its bumps and there was a delay with a some delivery, but they adjusted the schedule to keep things on track.
What I appreciated most was the transparency. There were no hidden costs, and no vague answers. The final product blends in so well with the main house that visitors think it has always been there. My sister moved in last month and couldn’t be happier. -
I live in Southern California but built an ADU on my property in Los Altos. ADU Builders Bay Area set up a shared folder where I could see weekly progress photos and updates. There were two rounds of corrections from the city, and they handled both quickly without requiring me to fly up. I was concerned about managing a project from far away, but they made it surprisingly easy. My tenants moved in shortly after the final inspection, and everything has gone smoothly so far.
-
I approached this project strictly as an investment. The crew delivered on time and kept the financials clear. Their weekly progress reports were useful for tracking expenses against rental potential. The unit was completed to code, and I signed a tenant within two weeks of the final inspection. From a return-on-investment perspective, the process made sense.

As a civil engineer, I have a reputation for being a troublesome client. I know what I am talking about when it comes to construction, from load calculations to drainage plans to shear walls. I chose ADU Builders Bay Area for my construction, and it was not a difficult decision considering my other options, as most competitors were filled with technical blunders, while ADU was the only one with a solid first draft. Leo, my superintendent, had no concerns with me showing up with a laser level. He took the measurements and said, “Check this pour.” Or, “Want to see the rebar before we close it up?” He was running the site with a high level of engineering precision. When I questioned a specification of a beam, he swiftly retrieved the stamped engineer's report from his truck. This was not just construction; this was a collaborative firm for execution of a technical plan. Their subcontractors, to no surprise, were also top-tier. The electrician and plumber were intimately familiar with the codes. There was no other joy for a professional who can’t turn off their brain than collaborating with such a competent team. They value the science of construction just as much as the art.

My mother-in-law is in India. We’ve been trying to bring her here for years, but finding housing in reasonable proximity to us is a tough nut to crack and the immigration process is a snail’s pace. So when her visa finally arrived in our house last year, we had about six months to sort this out. Our house in Santa Clara is hardly big enough for the four of us in our household now.
So we decided to build our ADU in the backyard. I had a few builders that I looked into but a coworker said his Brother in Law at ADU Builders Bay Area were amazing. We met with the project manager which was Mike. We sat with him and went over all of the details that we had discussed. How long it would take, our budget and that our Mother In Law does not speak much English and likes to do things her way.
Mike listened. No hawking "our product" or making big promises. He asked what her needs would be, essentially asking a battery of questions about her expected habits and potential requirements. Will she be cooking much, will she need to say her prayers, and so on. We hadn't really thought of those kinds of things.
It took about 5 months. There was a bit of a hold up with permits, like 6 weeks, but Mike kept us in the loop about what was going on. Overall the guys were really nice. They worked around our schedule which was a big deal. My husband started bringing them coffee in the morning and they would catch up on everything that was going on.
My in law house in the back yard is finished. Its small, but fine. 500 square feet, one bedroom, a decent kitchen and a nice bathroom. Mother in law has been living there for 3 months now. She has her own space, her own kitchen for cooking what she wants, and visits us sometimes for dinner. Mostly we leave her be. She likes being left alone and seems content. She's started a small garden in the back yard now.
It was a family matter, not a financial issue. ADU Builders Bay Area captured our vision. They enabled us to be a family again. Thank you for your priceless work. -
ADU Builders Bay Area totally turned things around for my family. When I lost my job during the pandemic, we had trouble keeping up with the house payments for like, two years. We used up all our credit and almost lost the house. Building an ADU was a last-ditch thing – we used my husband's retirement money, which was scary. But the finance folks helped us get it all set up right. The construction crew worked fast – they knew we didn't have much time. When our first renters (a nice family who'd lost their home in the fires) moved in, and we got that first payment, it was such a relief. We can chill out now, finally. The extra money covers most of our house payment. The ADU's really well built - it's all solid and good quality. They don't just put up buildings; they help people feel safe and secure.

Turning our garage into an ADU was quite the experience! After doing a ton of research, we chose ADU Builders Bay Area. We were a bit worried about such a big project, but they had a great rep and kept us in the loop the whole time, which made us feel good about going ahead.
Basically, we wanted to turn our garage into a small apartment with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living room. From the start, the team really listened to what we wanted and explained everything clearly. They paid close to what they did, making sure the ADU was both useful and looked great.
What I liked most was that they were flexible and willing to work with us. They let us fine-tune the design, making sure the final space worked well. They also did great work, and use great materials.
The communication was also spot-on the team. The team always gave us updates and took the time to come by and talk us through everything, which was super helpful. We felt like we were part of the team, not just customers. Now that it’s all done, we’re so happy with our new ADU, it’s even better than we’d hoped!
If you’re thinking about converting your garage, I highly recommend ADU Builders Bay Area. They really do a great job, and made the whole process a lot easier. We’ll definitely call them again!
