We hired South Bay to do our Ipe wood deck - Richard/Giovanni explained the process clearly, sent an invoice with range and provided several touch up services until we were satisfied with the outcome.

The exterior of my house is comprised of IPE wood and started to fade/dry out due to the constant sunlight and weather conditions. After some quick googling online, it appeared that I needed to apply some oil to bring the wood back to its original glory. The task seemed too daunting to do by myself, so I found South Bay Wood Restoration through Yelp. I gave them a call, and they were quick to respond and answer any questions that I had. The next day, they were able to come out to my house and provide a quote (that I thought was priced very competitively) for the job. An electronic copy of the quote was sent to me soon after with details about the job and materials used. Any follow-up questions I had were quickly answered via email. Due to their busy schedule, the work was initially going to be scheduled a few weeks out, but they were able to squeeze me in sooner, which was quite delightful. South Bay Wood Restoration did the job in two days; one day for power washing the exterior of the house and sanding down any pre-existing abnormalities, and another day for the oil application. The team performed the work with great diligence and care, leaving the area spotless at the end of each day. The team had to remove the wooden plaque with my house number to apply the oil, but they were happy to return and re-attach at my request. Throughout the process, I could reach South Bay Wood Restoration with any questions (such as any potential health hazards of the oil to children, etc.), and they were quick to respond. Almost 2 weeks have passed since the oil was applied, and the results are amazing! The IPE wood looks spectacular, and I am very pleased with the work. I give South Bay Wood Restoration 100% of my trust and would recommend them to anyone looking for exterior home IPE wood restoration.

100% Yes, go with SBWR. They were affordable and did an amazing job on our worn out deck. Our deck was in desperate need of care. Nails split the wood, the fascia was not level, and the deck was gray.

After the work of SBWR, the deck was washed, sanded, repaired, and stained. The deck looks so beautiful that you would think we have put in a brand new deck.

The arrival times of the crew were exact, and they crew did a great job of taking care of the job needed in a timely manner.

I am very pleased with the work of South Bay Wood Restoration. My project was to strip paint from my Teak outdoor dining table and 10 chair set and restore the natural Teak finish. I called a number of other vendors before calling South Bay. None of the other vendors would even give me a quote saying that this project was too labor intensive, not large enough or too challenging. South Bay stood out with their responsiveness and true desire to address my request.

In particular, I was impressed with the process that SBWR used to determine whether to take on my project. They took one chair to their office and stripped off the paint to determine what stripping products to use and how long the project would take. This enabled them to provide me a reasonable quote and a date that the project could be completed.

South Bay did a truly amazing job getting all of the paint off bringing back the beautiful natural teak color of my outdoor dining room set. Additionally, they accomplished the entire project in one day on-site at my home. I am happy to recommend SBWR. They were professional, courteous and provided great service at a fair price.

Richard and his team did a wonderful job from A to Z. Estimator was very knowledgeable. The workers were friendly and professional. They came back after the work was done to help me put back all the furniture : super nice! Richard answered all my questions and his communication was always efficient and valuable. I would totally recommend for any deck refinishing.

WOW - what a difference. I have refinished the deck a few times over the years...three times by myself (a LOT of work) and once by a painter I had used previously. The results were good, but the job done by South Bay Wood Restoration is superior. My deck hasn't looked this good in years. The process was great too - good communication up front, estimator was thorough and explained everything really well, scheduling was done to fit my calendar and the whole job was completed quickly. When it needs to be refinished again, I will be going back to them. Already referred them to my folks and to another friend.

I would give these guys 6 stars if I could. They were super responsive when setting up a time for the estimate. When they came out, they were courteous. These guys work hard and are focused on getting the job done right professionally. We have a deck that hasn't been maintained for over 10 years. They spent 3 days to power wash, bleach, sand, and stain our deck and now we have a deck that looks like new. Pricing was super competitive, The team came on time each time, and got the job done (AND RIGHT) within the estimate time, and they are very respectful to your home and neighbors. Highly recommend these guys.

South Bay Wood Restoration was one of the few companies that we called that replied promptly to us and actually came out to look at the deck that we were in need of restoring. They were polite and had a competitive bid.

They worked with us on our color preference. They use Preserva Wood oil based products. Their preferred color is Cedar but we went with Pacific Redwood for more of a reddish tone. They worked around the winter rains and holidays to wash and treat the deck at an optimal time. The crew is a family that was professional and courteous at all times.

We are pleased with the final product. They did a good job lightening the weathered deck, applying the stain evenly and included our trellis. Would recommend again.

They did an awesome job at my backyard to restore the decks. I found their approach really professional. Every step in the process to restore the decks was smoother. I originally had an idea of replacing the decks which would have costed me so much but I am glad South Bay Wood Restoration as they were clear that my decks would look really good when I just restore them by washing, power bleaching and staining them. I am indeed happy with how the decks look now in my backyard. I will highly recommend them to any of my friends looking to restore the wooden decks.

I contacted South Bay to get a quote on staining my deck and trellis. They replied quickly and showed up that weekend to take a look. They advised me to sand the railings but not the entire deck since pressure washing would remove the old stain. Their quote was very reasonable so we set up a time for the work to be done. It took 2 days to pressure wash and stain the deck and it looks great. Highly recommend them to anyone looking to have their deck stained.

These guys did a great job restoring our deck to its original color/luster. We live in SF and our deck gets beat up pretty hard by sun, wind, and damp/fog so it weathers really quickly. Richard was easy to work with and his team came back a couple times to even touch up a few spots. We will definitely call them back when we need to maintenance it again.

I've been looking for a reliable fence/wood staining expert crew for some time here in the Bay Area - and I think I've found them! I've managed my own house construction from tear down to completion, so feel like I have a good sense of good/bad when working with any construction-related contracting company.

First, they sent someone out to do a quote in person, which is always appreciated since I had a pretty unique job. Overall, super patient in terms of answering all the question I had in person. The quote that was sent afterwards was also very thorough, broken down by area, and included all the 'work' broken down into smaller steps that would be done (clean, brighten, sand, stain, etc). This made it really easy to decide what to add/remove/cut/defer to later.

Second, the crew that came to do the actual job was pretty tidy. They were respectful of outdoor furniture, moved stuff out of the way, and overall kept things pretty clean throughout the job. They did a window clean up job after sanding and staining as I have very large patio sliders. It's so typical of bad contracting firms to leave trash and junk _on the site_ these days. Not so with South Bay Wood Restoration.

I had some older stain on my fences which was _mostly_ gone except for small strips here and there; so while the power washing got rid of 99% of it, they did have to come back a few times to touch up a few areas. I really appreciated that they were not seeking to close the invoice or collect money until I was happy and felt the job was truly complete. We had two touch up follow-ups which took almost a month (due to my spotty availability), so not getting bugged on payment during this time frame alone would make super happy to work with them on another job again.

Lastly - these guys use Armstrong-Clark, and know how to apply it. I appreciate the usage of an old school oil stain product; here's to hoping it'll last a lot longer than the old water based stuff I had!

We used South Bay Wood restoration to stain a deck and a play structure. The experience was positive and the work turned out great. The guys moved the furniture, power washed, sanded, stained the deck, and moved the furniture back over the course of several days. We've used other deck staining companies in the past but the end result with this service was better!

My deck definitely needs some restoration work and I’m glad to have chosen South Bay Wood Restoration to restore my deck. If not the rain and landscaping work in my backyard, they could have finish the work in 3 days. They are able to work around the rain and they had no problem with the on-going landscaping work. We thought our deck would have to be replaced, as it looked so bad. The foggy air in SF meant we had patches of green moss and mildew growing on parts of both the top and underside of our deck. But to our surprise they said our deck could survive another 10 years with the proper care. I really appreciated their honesty and they did an incredibly thorough job with the restoration. It feels like a brand new, beautiful redwood deck!
