Home Services reviews in Seaside, California
-
Nice store with a good selection of plants, flowers and garden tools. However, my only time buying from here was a bad experience, as one of the people working there was very rude and unprofessional. Because of little misunderstanding, he got angry and started talking to me in a very impolite way as if I was trying to steal something from him. This kind of dealing with customers is certainly not something you would normally see at stores in this area. Customer service is more important for me than quality of items sold, prices, etc. One thing for sure, this was my first and last time shopping at this place.

We purchased a lot of plants here for double the price of home depot and received terrible customer service after some of the plants died. We inquired as to the specific care of the plants and followed as told. Yet the plants did not do as we were told. We brought them back and showed a video to the manger and he rudely refused to exchange these dead plants as he had recommended. We have a beautiful garden in Carmel by the Sea and we take great care of our plants and flowers. We would not recommend throwing your money in the waste at this nursery. They do not care for taking care of valued customers. One Star is too much.

1. Wanted to like then but the quality or health of the plants seemed poor relative to the price.
2 I bought expensive gravel. She loaded the bag so as to hide it has a hole and leaked gravel. When I saw an open bag, I asked to buy or have it but she said no. Why not give me a little of the extra gravel to make up for the gravel lost before loading it? Plus I had no warning so it spilled all over and took time to clean it up.
3. They said go to other location. I say how do you know it’s in stock? He says we know what we have in our store. Yet they sold inventory the did t have at their own store so I got a refund lol
4. They ignore you unless you talk to them even at the register desk
So they seem cheap to a fault. Will take my corporate card and compulsive buying to another place. -
Hana Gardens Seaside has a great selection, friendly and helpful staff and very good prices. Several native California plants that encourage butterfly and bee activity.

Poor customer service. I walked up to the register to purchase gravel, but was ignored by the 2 workers behind the counter. They saw me but casually continued their conversation for several minutes. There were no other customers (awkward). After that everything went smoothly.

I am a landlord, and I usually source my landscaping and plants from Home Depot. This was my first visit to the Seaside Garden Center. Eddie was very friendly and knowledgable. He answered questions ranging from paving materials to robustness of specific plant recommendations as hedges or trees. I will be back for more plants and advice!!
There is no way that I would get this level of service at the big stores like Home Depot. -
RIPPED off $60 and my time plus was insulted.
My neighbor suggested that I go to yelp to make my complaint. Once here I noticed, I wasn’t the only person who’s been treated badly by the manager of this location. I was only in the store for 10 minutes to spend quite a bit of money on gravel. I was treated as if I was an inconvenience which is not what I’m used to experiencing since I have supported this location since it opened and live nearby. Basically, Felicia was rude. I was stunned. We set up delivery for the gravel and when the gravel delivery guy arrived I simply kindly asked him to angle his truck so that the gravel would fall on the left side of the driveway instead of the right so I would have a place to park my car since there’s limited parking on my street. My neighbors witness is rude reaction by him yelling no twice and I finally said OK put it wherever you want. At that point, he said no, I’m not leaving the gravel here and drove off. Once again, I had to deal with Felicia. She offered to have a different delivery driver, but it wasn’t for another week and I had deadlines to meet with the landscaping refreshment of my yard. I said I would like to have a refund because granite rock would be able to deliver the next day. Felicia said we will only refund you the gravel but not the delivery fee which is completely wrong. Ripping someone off of $60 because of a driver that had an attitude.
Granite Rock - was amazing - they were able to angle their truck into my driveway and drop the gravel off exactly how I asked for it. It was no big deal to them. They were happy to provide excellent customer service.
It’s been 5 mos now and the owner (Mori) has not returned my call to refund me the $60. Most likely because his manager did not relay the message. My neighbors who witnessed the drivers poor attitude have also decided not to shop at Hana Gardens. I’m sure this store has lost far more than the $60 they took from me by lost sales. This is very disappointing as I’ve supported and purchased garden supplies from this location since the day they opened. -
Great little nursery. The outdoor garden area is put together well and looks great. The interactions I had with employees were nice & helpful.

Hana's is becoming my GoTo nursery. They are always friendly and helpful. They were the only nursery who was able to solve my tree leaf disease, and provided me with the necessary product and clear instructions to remedy the problem. They clearly know plants and enjoy sharing their knowledge with their customers.

Hana Gardens (Seaside) is one of the nicest and most peaceful spots in the area. The gardens are beautifully maintained, the walkways are clean, and the whole property feels calm and inviting. I often buy plants here because they are always healthy, well-cared-for, and reasonably priced. You can really see the pride the staff puts into maintaining the gardens and overall environment. It’s a quiet, charming place and an excellent community in Del Rey Oaks.

My experience wit them precisely. The job they did was OK, but when asked to follow up on a number of issues, they were missing in action. 5 phone calls to them went unanswered.Very unprofessional
-
Craven is one of the oldest and finest landscaping companies on the Monterey peninsula and I highly recommend them..
-
It took 3 attempts to get them out here to measure and look at job. Then nothing. Nothing nada no calls. I have called them 4 times. Told we will get back to you. Nothing- 2 weeks later still nothing. Don’t hold your breath.

Craven Landscaping worked on a complete re-surfacing my 2-acre house in Carmel. 5 reasons for the 5-star: This isn't my first rodeo with mother nature & the work those guys did in the short amount of time was nothing short of miraculous. The initial estimate was far more expansive than I was imagining it would be, in a good way, and when complete it was more work than I was expecting. They showed up on time, and completed the work as described within my timeline. Finally the pricing was incredibly fair for the work done. Look - landscaping isn't a bargain any way you slice it. I've found in my experience that it can be some of the most expensive work you can do for a house, and when you include tree removal (not relevant to this particular project) the price can soar. It's expensive work! But, and this is crucial, when done well it can make your life in your house easier for years to come. If you're doing it to spruce up a house pre-list, it's even more important still. The fact is that people are going to be swayed by curb appeal, & will assume if you take the time & expense to landscape, the rest of the house will be given the attention it needs. What sealed the deal for choosing Craven Landscaping for me was their clear communication, their history of work with estate homes in the area (which sadly my little house is not) and the thoughtfulness they applied to the choices they recommended. The reason I'm taking the time to recommend here is that the work far exceeded my expectations & that spending double-digits on what sounds like "hey plants yay" is always a little cookoo-seeming. It's not. It's well worth it & the pricing Craven Landscaping charges for the work they do is an incredible bargain any way you slice it. Definitely would be a pleasure to work with them again & hopefully this makes a scary decision a little less so for you. Note: I am not related to anyone there nor do I have a vested interest in their success-they're really just that great!

Craven completely re-did the grass portion of our lawn. Their prices were competitive, their crew was efficient and professional, and they timed the work to support our travel schedule. They also offered good growing advice and showed me how to re-design our sprinkler system to best support the new sod. Best of all however, has been their follow-up. We are new to the area and still adjusting to growing grass in this unique climate. Roark has been gracious and informative in responding to my numerous email questions. A very positive experience!

Tried to hire Escobedo's to do some work on my yard twice but the first time the weather was not in our favor. He didn't contact me to let me know he would not be showing up which was expected due to the weather but some communication would have been appreciated. I reached out to him and asked if he could reschedule and he said he would come the following week. No call, no show! I understand that life gets busy and hectic but it is polite to let your customers know you won’t be available.
**Update** Jose contacted me saying one of his employees was injured the day before and he forgot to call me. He was very polite, apologized and offered to come work on the yard right away but I had already hired another company. Since all of his other reviews are good I am sure they do great work and wish it could have worked out as they came highly recommended. I have changed the rating from one star to three for the circumstances, hope their employee is ok. -
Escobedo’s has been taking care of my property for as long as I can remember. They can do everything landscape related from stone work, irrigation, to taking down large trees. My only issue are the bills only come quarterly and the weekly visits add up quickly. Thanks Escobedo’s!
