Having been in our home for some time we knew about numerous issues that needed to be addressed. The backyard would flood during the rains as water came down from the mountains. The pool finish was old and disintegrating. The irrigation was old, galvanized pipes and needed to be replaced. And the overall aesthetic was rustic and the yard unusable. We needed a completely new design.
We worked closely with a few different companies including paying their design fees and working with their designers and planners. Some of the estimates were lower and some were higher than POL. There were two main things that made us decide to use POL. When we went to their office we spoke with Samantha and that went similarly to the other outfits but during our visit it became clear that the organization behind her was impressive and that our design was a team effort. They were very professional and knowledgeable and had expertise in design, project planning, permitting, and estimating. The second thing that convinced us was that they had the workforce and trades in house needed to complete much of the project without juggling our schedule with the schedules of numerous subcontractors.
Once the project started, working closely with Trent was an absolute joy. He has expertise in the project details and in planning and scheduling that made everything smooth and gave us a clear idea of what to expect day by day. Like any project, there were some things that needed to be tweaked and some changes that we decided to implement. Their ability to estimate and clearly document change orders that we wanted made the process very smooth. We feel that we got a very fair deal for scope of work.
The quality of the work in each of the phases and areas of work was also top notch. From the demo to the infrastructure plan and build (drainage and drainpipes, water supply pipes, gas pipes), to the finish work (pavers, deck, pool, pergola) their experience and workmanship left nothing to be desired. Altogether, our project from start to finish, it took about two months of work.
We are very happy with our new yard and highly recommend POL to anybody looking to turn their backyard into a resort destination. We have already recommended them to people and would work with them again without hesitation.

UPDATE: We were so happy with the work Pacific Outdoor did in our backyard that we engaged them again to transform our front yard.
Once again Trent and his team did a great job of creating an attractive hardscape and landscape plan, and then executing that plan with precision and craftsmanship. The entire process from demolition to a new paver driveway, seating wall, dry creek, and mailbox, to the completed plantings took only one month.

Pacific Outdoor Living transformed my 40 year old patio that had an uneven surface and broken flagstones into a beautiful safe space. Their sales associate Craig explained the replacement process and guided me to make the perfect choice of paver size and color.
Even though the entrance door was only three feet wide, making installation more difficult, the patio was completed in just four days with little disruption to me or my condo neighbors.

Pacific Outdoor Living gets a 5 star review because of their outstanding customer service and job performance. We recently renovated our backyard with an in -ground pool and outdoor space. The job took no more than two and a half months to complete. Samantha the designer, worked with us to sketch exactly what we wanted and provided us with a 3D model of how our backyard would look like. It came out exactly what was sketched. Trent, the owner of Pacific Outdoor Living, was very involved in the project himself. He showed up many times throughout our construction just to make sure that everything was running as planned. Our project manager,  Khalil, was fabulous! From start to finish, Khalil was on top of it. He was very organized and prepared every time we saw him. We never have to second guess when he was going to bring out an inspector or when any of the employees came. In addition, Khalil always notified us before he sent someone to our house to do any of the work that was to be done as well as let us know ahead of time any additional cost that was to be added if we did additional work that was not part of the contract at our property.

We felt like we were in good hands with Khalil. We also wanted to mention that Pacific outdoor living also has different departments that handle various areas that customers may need. For example, they have their own construction team, Landscape team, demolition team as well as paving Stone team and also a billing department that run very efficiently and seamlessly. We felt that Pacific outdoor living was a very reliable and honest company to work with. They definitely live up to their high standards of quality and service.

I highly recommend working with Pacific Outdoor Living! We used them for the end-to-end, ground-up design and installation for our front and back yards, which included a new pool, paver installation (walkways, front and back patios and driveway), landscaping (including artificial turf) and outdoor lighting. They were responsive, knowledgeable, professional and on time in their work throughout the project. When we were looking at companies, I wasn’t necessarily looking for the cheapest — I’m very picky and really wanted the best work, but also at a reasonable cost. Pacific Outdoor Living really delivered on both! I also appreciated their “one-stop shop” capability — we only needed to work with one company to get everything done. We liked working with them so much that our next door neighbors are about to break ground on a new pool with them, and I have passed their info on to multiple neighbors!

Though I didn’t use their construction services, I purchased the design, which carefully considered all the existing elements like our mature trees and pool, seamlessly integrating them into a cohesive plan. I had a an extensive backyard project involving new tile, replastering my pool, and a new outdoor kitchen. Pacific Outdoors was incredible. The entire team was always professional and friendly. They always kept us informed of the work to be completed the upcoming week while also reviewing the work finished the prior work. Great open communication and no surprises. The project manager — Khalil — went beyond what was expected so many times that he created a new standard of construction excellence and communication. I highly recommend Pacific Outdoors.

Pacific Outdoor Living redid our Pool and Pavers. We decided to change things up and raise our spa to make it easier to get in to and then ripped out all the concrete and put is pavers. Best decision ever. We also go new pool equipment. Ours was originally in the garage (pool was put in a long time ago when that was allowed). Now we have all new equipment and heater in the corner of the yard where it belongs and is easier to get to.
We also had them rebuild the planter retaining wall on the other side of the fence from the pool. They did an amazing job.

I would definitely recommend Pacific Outdoor Living. We had a great experience. They helped us through all the permitting and difficulties of having a hillside home and following LA pool requirements. We worked with Julian on our backyard design. He really brainstormed and listened to us and contributed so many great ideas.
Also, it was so reassuring to us that POL had an entire department that dealt with permits. They guided our project through all the departments at LADBS and someone at POL was there as our advocate through all these hoops we had to jump through to build. We hit obstacles with our design and approval process, and I really appreciated the patience, and the ability POL had to work with our design and the city and get our design approved.
When we were finally ready for the landscaping and the actual work, it was so exciting and happened so quickly and efficiently.
Our general management was run by Khalil. We were able to lean on his aesthetic and production knowledge all the way through the project. He is the best and collaborative and accessible for every step. He anticipated and managed our expectations brilliantly. Jesse handled all the planting and all the teams that came out were polite and professional and left the exterior clean every day.
We are really happy, actually thrilled, with the results and we enjoyed the process.

We have used Pacific Outdoor Living on two different homes and have been impressed with their work both times. Neighbors, in both cases, have come over to compliment us on their workmanship and express “curb-appeal envy.” The masonry work they did for us elicited compliments from other contractors. Pacific Outdoor Living has backyard renovation down a science. We had a great experience with Julian for design, Khalil for project management and hardscape, and Jesse for landscaping. The crews were professional and accommodating to my requests. They also moved at lightning speed on our project when circumstances required it. I would recommend POL to everyone. They may be expensive, but the quality of work, level of service, and quality of project management (thanks again, Khalil!) would be very difficult to match.

We had our entire backyard remodeled by Pacific Outdoor Living last year, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. As a mom of two little boys, I wanted a space that was both beautiful and functional for our family—and that’s exactly what we got.

We removed everything, including the old pool, and built a brand-new pool, artificial grass, fire pit area, and a basketball court for my husband (which he loves). The space turned out even better than we imagined.

Huge shoutout to Samantha, our designer, for totally getting our style. And then there’s Khalil—our project manager and honestly, MVP. He was on top of every detail. Thoughtful, kind, responsive, and the rare kind of professional who doesn’t vanish the second the final check clears. Even after the job was done, he stuck around to make sure every last touch was perfect.

And here’s the kicker: the project finished ahead of schedule. I didn’t even know that was a thing in construction.

Update to my original posting, 9/11/2025: It is one thing to be happy with a project and a company when all goes well at the outset. But we all know that things go wrong. And when they "go wrong" after you have invested a lot of money into a project, it creates a lot of stress, worry and questions: Will warranties be honored? How will the "complaint" be received? What will be done to provide a real solution? Well, I did experience a problem due to some soil mobility underneath my pavers. I wrote a letter, took pictures and made a video to document the problem. My letter was acknowledged and responded to immediately. Supervisory personnel were sent right away. An inspection was completed, diagnosis made, and a plan was presented. The specialized crew came out and provided and extra sense of assurance that they would be diligent, and they delivered. This is one way for me to express my gratitude to Pacific Outdoor Living. It serves as a powerful confirmation that an exceptional company is the one who honors their word, their workmanship, and their warranties. If you are reading this review, please know that I can confirm that this company stands behind their work. Everyone says that they do, but few deliver on it. What follows is my original review and posting: I know...it seems an odd choice to have a swimming pool removed and that is how we embarked on this journey that led us to Pacific Outdoor Living. We started this project by meeting with a number of different Contractors from different companies. Pacific Outdoor Living set themselves apart from everyone else at the outset by offering us the opportunity to have our entire property drawn and analyzed, in addition to plans being developed by a Designer. From the first day that we met with Samantha Hung, we knew we were in very capable hands to help us with the daunting responsibility of coming up with a design. We knew we had options: We just had no idea of where to even begin. Samantha provided us with a vision of what our property could look like. Of course, what matters most is the execution of all the plans and designs. Our lead Project Supervisor, Jorge, provided us with a precise checklist of all that we mutually agreed would be done. He was always willing to listen when we felt that we needed to make modifications to our original plan and design. We are thrilled that we ended up with the backyard that we envisioned for ourselves. Start to finish, our project took about nine weeks, and every step of the process: demolition, debris removal, preparation, installation, etc., was completed by a crew or a Team who was highly skilled and worked efficiently to complete their task. We are so grateful that we found this company and simply could not imagine working with anyone else on such a large endeavor. I wish the entire company continuing success as they help other families maximize the enjoyment of their outdoor living spaces.

Pacific outdoor Very professional, follow up in the estimate were accurate and congruent whatever they say they would they stood behind their words. We used Pacific Outdoor Living for a complete backyard makeover three years ago, and it still looks amazing today. Their process made all the difference. They first came to our house, then created a CAD drawing along with a cost estimate. You pay for that step, and if you want to move forward, the next step is a 3D drawing. After reviewing the drawings, they move into preparing the plans, and once you receive those, you sign the contract and the work begins. It’s a great way to see exactly what you’ll be getting before making the full commitment.

We met with several other companies and even paid two of them to complete drawings, but Pacific’s was the only one that truly captured what we wanted. They stayed on time and on budget. To clarify, we adjusted our budget to achieve the features we wanted, but Pacific completed the project for the exact price they quoted.

They did subcontract the patio to Tiger Patio, which brought some unnecessary complexity to the project. The patio looks beautiful, but it did come at an additional cost. Everything else, however, was handled beautifully by Pacific. Even now, three years later, they have continued to be a resource whenever we’ve had questions about maintenance.

Overall, Pacific Outdoor Living delivered outstanding work with a thoughtful, step-by-step process that makes you confident in your investment. We would definitely recommend them for anyone considering a backyard transformation.

We waited 30 years for this project; I could never find someone that understood my vision for a changed driveway approach and an open courtyard to our front door. Until I found Joseph Acosta at Pacific Outdoor Living. It did not stop there though, the execution of the plan was fantastic, with each team coming timely and working tirelessly to make our tired old yard a showcase!

I believe the company’s phased process worked perfectly! We are grateful for the transformation to our home and look forward to enjoying it for many years to come!

Pacific Outdoor Living is very professional without losing that personalized touch! Our yards were not that big but they treated us like million dollar customers!
