After having interviewed and received multiple quotes for tree trimming, we decided to talk to a certified arborist as we have a diverse variety of mature trees in our yard and an issue of the neighbor's tree roots suffocating our Dragon tree and potentially damaging our foundation.
Dave visited and we walked the property and he knew every tree and shrub by name and really impressed me with his knowledge and experience (25+ yrs). Even though several quotes were substantially less, the other tree services did not have an arborist on staff and clearly knew far less than Dave.
We booked TTS and Dave and a crew of 8 men and 4 or 5 vehicles arrived promptly in uniforms and an array of specialized equipment, all licensed, insured and bonded.
7+ hours later, I could not believe how great their work turned out and Dave came back the next day for a full review and update.
These guys are not the cheap option but fair and reasonable and as professional as any company I have encountered that provides services.
Without a doubt I highly recommend them and will use their services for all future tree maintenance.

We needed to have some very tall palms trimmed down at home, as well as some other trees on the property. Dave's team was not only safe and professional but they took the time to clean up beyond expectation.

Dave and his crew were great to work with. They came as scheduled (even asked to come a day early but I wasn't able to do it), did a quiet and fast job pruning and trimming, and my yard was totally clean and clear of debris when they left. David's staff of Thrifty Tree Service does an excellent job of trimming my 5 Palm, 5 Liquid Amber and 1 Jacaranda trees. They are all courteous, professional, and cordial! They use excellent safety precautions as they work. I have used them for many years and obviously I am satisfied with their work! David, owner, and his staff supervisor, TJ, are so nice to work with as well as his office staff!

Dave and his team are incredibly professional and trustworthy. Had a large fallen tree in my front yard and Called Thrifty and everything was cleared by the end of the day. They managed to remove the tree without causing anymore damage to my property and ensured I was satisfied with the work completed. Amazing service and amazing work!

Thrifty Tree Service is fabulous. I'd used two other companies in the past, and they pale by comparison. The great service started from day one: Dave, the owner, showed up promptly to walk our property and give us an estimate.

To be honest, his price was higher than other companies, which gave me some initial pause. But after hearing why he charges what he does, I decided he was well worth the extra cost. Here are just some of the reasons:

1) he's a licensed arborist, 2) he had another licensed arborist on the job at all times, 3) his workers are all experienced, long-term employees that are "on the books" and fully covered by workers' comp, 4) his tree climbers don't use spikes on their boots (so they don't damage the trees) and 5) his men prune at "eye level" and not from the ground (so the "wounds" created by the cuts are are small as possible and heal as quickly as possible).

The excellent service continued on the day of the job. An army of 12 men arrived on time and were meticulous in their work, taking care to cover the sides of our house and lighting fixtures, to make sure that nothing was damaged.

And as for the pruning, the trees look fabulous—the best they've ever been. Again, I can't recommend Thrifty Tree Service strongly enough. Your trees are a big investment; Dave's service is worth every penny to ensure that your trees remain healthy and beautiful.

Thrifty Tree Service just trimmed my palm and coral trees and did an amazing job. The customer service was great, from the first meeting with Dave and the great work of the rest of the employees. They know what they are doing when it comes to trimming trees and making them look great! They also treated my trees to help them grow and nourish them in ways that I didn’t know was possible. They are extremely knowledgeable and I highly recommend them to all my friends and family.

Dave and his team are amazing!! We hired Thrifty Tree Service to remove a large, diseased Sycamore tree from our front yard, trim a side tree, and plant 2 new trees. We have a nice property in Pacific Palisades and had a great experience with Thrifty. This is a PROFESSIONAL tree service company. It is not a low end "we will cut your trees and do your lawn" company. They know trees. They showed up with a large crew, big trucks with telescoping buckets for their workers, and a truck for chopping. David, the owner, supervised the work and made appropriate recommendations for each tree that required unique care. We will use them on our other properties. They are appropriately priced for the service they provide.

I have a huge redwood tree in my backyard that needed trimming. The owner of Thrifty Tree Service, Dave, was incredibly helpful in the process. He was very knowledgeable and professional and took the time to explain everything that needed to be done prior. His crew was right on time and finished in exactly the time frame they estimated. And they thoroughly cleared my backyard from all the debris. Overall great service. I will definitely use this company again and couldn't recommend them enough.

Manny and the team at Thrift Tree Service have been fantastic. We've had them come out twice now to prune our palm tree and yucca tree. They are prompt in coming out for a free estimate and scheduling service for the quickest turnaround possible. It only took a couple of hours to complete everything and they cleaned up after completing the job as well. Would highly recommend to anyone in the San Fernando Valley.

I just received fantastic service from Thrifty Tree Service and Dave! Dave was very professional and he impressed me as being a very knowledgable arborist. He helped me remove several trees from my property and performed trimming for several other native trees which I needed to have done. His crews showed up in force and got the job done for me in a day. Now through my own profession I'm familiar with the cost of skilled labor and I can tell by amount of crews that Dave had on my project and the equipment that was brought to the site, that not only was I dealing with a professional company but I also just received an excellent price on the cost of my project. Amazing!!! They were on-time, actually early! Extremely professional workers, and very knowledgeable . Juan was kind enough to educate us about our trees and and how to take care of them. Our tree now looks beautiful. 100% recommend them!!!!

Manny and the boys did a great job. Cut down the trees that were growing into my powerlines. Got it done fast. Cleaned up well. Everyone was nice and chill.

Thrifty has been our commercial and residential building service for over 10 years and we will never switch. They are always professional and knowledgeable. I called Dave yesterday and at 7:00 am today his crews did a complete cleanup on our apartment building in a few hours. Love them

Excellent service from Thrifty Tree Service. I received 4 quotes from various companies and referrals. I found Thrifty on Yelp and could not have been more pleased. From start to finish, Dave and his team were professional, on time (actually arrived early) efficient, and knowledgeable. They took the time to understand exactly what I needed done to my yard. They offered advice, asked questions along the way and executed the trimming perfectly. This was a large space to trim, almost an acre and it done perfectly. I asked them to put me on a schedule for trimming of some of the trees for next year.

Have enjoyed using Thrifty Tree Service for multiple projects including annual bamboo trimming. They are very effective and the team also does a great job cleaning up afterwards. Dave is a great project foreman and is very helpful with answering questions. Their office is very responsive too. Will continue to use this company in the future!
