We hired Highlands Landscaping & Fencing to build a new patio and install a gazebo for us. We worked with Brandon Barch as our designer and I would highly recommend him. He helped us parse out all of our plans for our yard, break them in to manageable projects for cost, and make smart decisions about our materials. His project manager Sasa was also awesome. He was communicative and professional and he and his team did high quality work. If you are looking to hire a local company that does excellent work, hire these guys. We will be using them for every yard project.

I recently completed a project with Highlands Landscaping and am thrilled with the final product. I worked closely with Brandon and Salvador who managed my project. The team was very easy to work with, responsive and willing to go the extra mile to make our project exactly how we wanted it. On top of that they were very friendly and had a great attitude the whole time. They were able to complete my project in four days and now my yard and house are looking awesome for the summer time. In searching for a good landscape company we ran across Highlands and since they had so many good reviews we did ask them to be one of our bidders on a significant project.

We needed the entire side yard to be reterraced, the retaining walls removed and relocated, using heavy blocks, install underground gutter downspout piping and french drains, and a LOT of excess dirt removed manually as the area did not allow access for power equipment.

First of all, the estimator was on time, knew his stuff, and had some good ideas. When their bid came in it was not the lowest, but then lowest is often a trap. We decided to go with Highlands anyway and WOW were we impressed! This outfit is GREAT! They showed up every time early, worked very hard, were extremely accommodating when we had questions or wanted to make changes, and left every day only after the site was cleaned up completely.

Their end result was impressive, we were very happy with their work and design, and we had no complaints at all. And, believe it or not, when the final invoice came in it was actually lower than their estimate!

We would not hesitate to use Highlands again and felt their slightly higher price was well worth it to have a company do such a good job with no issues at all.

Our 9 year old home was experiencing drainage issues in front and in back. A sink hole and subsequent structural engineer alerted us to address the issue sooner than later. This work generally falls under the purview landscape companies. After researching the best in the area and receiving quotes from three, I chose Highlands Landscaping. From the beginning I was impressed with this company. The office staff person was cheerful, knowledgeable and helpful. Their designer and estimator, John Aguilar was on time and thought of an elegant solution the other two estimators had not. John was straightforward, responsive and his communication impeccable. Several days prior to the scheduled work, John arranged to meet us here with their project manager, Salvador Fernandez. We surveyed the project as John envisioned it and Salvador improved upon it as his experience dictated. His crew came last Monday bright, early and on time. They seemed to divide the project in pieces and dole those to each crew member. Every one knew his job worked hard all day long to complete it. They went well beyond our expectations, even going out of their way to save landscaping that we thought would be lost. Though we don't expect problems, Highlands also has an excellent warranty that I have no doubt they stand behind. All in all, we are very pleased with our decision to use Highlands Landscaping and the work they did.

When I first starting working with Highlands Landscaping in July 2018, I was dealing with a very neglected property that needed a significant amount of work. Marko and his team were not only responsive to my needs and budget, but helpful with suggestions for a lower maintenance landscape. After pretty much spending my whole summer with Marko, I have no hesitation to highly recommend him and his company. They added a sprinkler system, laid sod, added Breeze for the patio, built a new retaining wall and fence. Marko is professional but personable and immediately responds to any questions or concerns. Thank you for reestablishing a property that I can enjoy again!!

We hired this company for a fence replacement (and extension), sod, and paver patio for a hot tub. These guys are great! Their work is amazing and the crew is top notch. Extremely professional and 100% willing to walk you through things they are doing and address any issues you find without any fuss. The final bill was a little over the original estimate, but still worth it. I can’t thank the crew and the staff @Highlands for such great work. Alisa at the front office is also amazing. We ran into a snag with the loan (approved but closing date kept changing) and she worked with us every step of the way to make sure everything was good on both ends. To Nikola and Ivan’s crew, you guys did such an amazing job. We love what you guys did and cannot thank you enough for the work and helping us with any thing that popped up. Both quickly and professionally. I highly recommend this company.

We are so glad that we found Highlands Landscaping on YELP. From the initial walkthrough all the way to the completion of the project, HL was nothing short of completely professional and friendly.

We had a very unusual layout with our yard where the entire side of the house was not only overgrown and unusable, but it wasn't even accessible from the backyard. This unusable space was one of the main inspirations for the renovation. HL was able to knock out the old chainlink fence and expand the backyard onto the side of the house, they cleared out all of the overgrown brush and even removed a small tree. We feel like our yard grew by a huge percentage and we look forward to doing more with that space (and with HL) in the future!

Another odd thing was the flippers who sold us our house planted grass all in the backyard, but with no sprinkler system or hose hookup, that grass all died. HL replaced the dead grass and dirt with gorilla hair cedar mulch, lovely red flag stone steppers, and built a paver patio for our hangout space.

The fire pit was also a big problem area, the sectioned off area was falling apart and wasn't holding its shape. HL completely rebuild the area by reusing as many of the large rocks as possible, and supplementing with their own where needed. They laid down a weed barrier and then filled the new pit with gorgeous river rock.

HL had provided us with a quote to do all sorts of plantings with irrigation, but we wanted to keep some of the fun stuff for ourselves, so we opted out. We will however, have HL back later in the spring to do a small amount of plantings for us because we loved their suggestion of planting karl foerster grass alongside the garage wall and felt it fair to allow them to do that work for us!

The landscaping work is exactly what we wanted, we are going to be building upon what they did here with a xeriscape, drought tolerant desert vibe.

The fence work is in my opinion, the highlight of the project. The smell of the fresh red cedar permeates the air, and the build quality of the fence and the gates is just flawless! We have a curved foundational wall in the front of the house along our driveway, and initially I was concerned about how this would play with the fence. What I thought was going to be a compromise turned out to be a feature! The way the wall and the fence join together, and the way they curved the wood alongside it is my favorite part of the whole fence. I had so much anxiety about how this area was going to look and it became my favorite element.

The gates are STURDY!! I love walking through them and will use any opportunity I have to do so! The walk to the garbage can is closer from my backyard, but you'll often find me walking my trash out through the front just so I can take another look at the project and feel the heft of that front gate.

Highlands Landscaping did as PRAISEWORTHY job, and at what I felt was a reasonable price. We had a lot of weather delays that was no fault of the company, but I would say that when they were able to work, they worked quickly and efficiently. The speed at which the fence went up absolutely blew my mind.

Highlands did a great job on our backyard. We had an area of compacted breeze installed for a firepit area, as well as an elevated pad of compacted recycled concrete for a shed, a compacted breeze path to the shed pad, a garden bed, and two 8x8s to string lights over our patio. The team did a great job and we are so pleased with how the backyard turned out! Although spring weather prolonged the install several days, the team did a good job of squeezing in work when they could and were very thoughtful and responsive to our questions and requests.

I had worked with Highlands Landscaping years ago when they did sprinkler installation and had such a great experience, there was no looking anywhere else for an estimate for building a fence for our front yard and some grading work along our house. I loved working with them from start to finish! Everyone is so kind and professional and very attentive to the small details in their projects. I love how our front yard turned out and will definitely be using them for more work in the future.

We had a great experience with Highlands Landscaping. We hired their team to redo our small backyard landscaping, including removing a non-working tank pool and installing custom flower beds. The work looks terrific (will post better photos once we have things planted in spring and our deck finished – the photo shows where the tank pool was). Salvador and his team were friendly, professional, and efficient – Salvador clearly wanted the job done well and wanted to make sure we were happy with the work. Would definitely recommend.

We worked with Highlands Landscaping to design and install a stone patio, fireplace, wooden fence and landscaping in our front yard. They were wonderful to work with and consistently professional and helpful throughout the whole process. We are so happy with the final product and recommend them to anyone looking for outdoor improvement projects.

We hired Highlands Landscaping to completely replace the grass in our large front yard with a design that reduced our water use, required less maintenance, and had plants that were better suited to the local environment. They did an excellent job and we are delighted with the results. John Aguilar, the landscape architect, listened to what type of yard we wanted and came up with a wonderful design that incorporated our vision and worked with existing trees and plantings. He also suggested some great features and materials that we would have never thought of but fit our yard perfectly. Marin Munoz, the project manager, and his crew did a great job implementing the plan and were also very responsive when we requested modifications or explanations. We highly recommend them!

In particular, our Project Manager Salvador was super responsible and responsive, always available to answer our questions, address any concerns, and make sure we were 100% satisfied. Alisa in the office was also great. Overall, the whole team was extremely professional and personable, and the bid was very competitive. I highly recommend them!

We contracted with Highlands to rework the front yard landscaping at my Mom’s house. The yard had been neglected for years. Highlands came in and did an amazing job. Great craftsmanship, listed to our wishes and input and didn’t “nickel and dime” us at all. I recommend them without reservation!

We are so so happy with Highlands Landscaping! From start to finish they were attentive, kind, and very helpful in figuring out what would work best for our space. They even got us in a little earlier than expected which was great. We worked with John on getting the drawings and materials figured out, and Salvador was our project manager once the work began. Salvador was fantastic at leading our project - they completed it on schedule and his team was very respectful of our space. We recently moved into a new-build that came with little to no landscaping in the back. They added a paver patio & walkway, steps leading from our main patio, a trellis for privacy, and artificial turf. Our yard was on a bit of a hill so a lot of grading was needed. The end result turned out better than I could have imagined! Will definitely be recommending Highlands Landscaping to all our neighbors and friends. Thank you again :)

Working with John, Nikola, and Alisa was a great experience. Overall, they are very organized, efficient, and had a great vision for our project. We hired them to fix some negative grading, and update the xeriscaping around our egress windows. I'd definitely recommend them and intend to work with them on a more significant overhaul of our yard in the near future.

This is my fourth project with Highlands Landscaping, and once again, I couldn’t be happier. They went above and beyond, solving serious drainage problems (installing a French drain, fixing four downspouts, and redesigning the layout) while also redoing our patio beautifully.

From the start, John made sure the scope and quote were clear, and the team — Hilmar (foreman), Salvador (project manager), and Panta (boss) — patiently answered every question (and we had many!). The professionalism and care they put into their work really shows.
