Joey and his guys helped on my remodel of my commercial office. They were all extremely knowledgeable and professional. They got the job done ahead of schedule and the price was very reasonable. I will use Downtown Electric and Lighting for both my commercial and residential needs!

Downtown Electric worked with me to achieve a hallway for artwork that is gently washed with light, providing unobtrusive low profile fixtures that are quiet and very adjustable. Also, they installed the electrical for the rest of our new construction, including an electric car charger and an outlet for my mangle in a bedroom (I must be the only person anymore who irons).

All the work was done neatly and in a personable, professional, efficient manner, including a can-do attitude when I requested special locations for outlets and the installation of smart switches. Their work passed rough and final inspections the first time.

This was my second new construction project with Downtown Electric. I highly recommend them.

This review is written with the hopes to save others their time and money. CUSI was hired in January 2022 to complete a service upgrade and to move the electric meter and panel to comply with code. To this date no work was conducted. Their communication during this entire 1+ year was extremely poor. They would immediately respond to my realtor (a male) but would not communicate nor coordinate directly with me (a young female and the homeowner). I only spoke to them a handful of times and the electricians I spoke to were condescending and mocking. I provided half the payment (just under $5k) to them in November 2022 in hopes that could help them get going. In March 2023 I started receiving past due invoices and collections notices for the full amount (almost $9k). Again, the project was never even started and absolutely no work had been performed. I requested they close the work permit with the building department and return my initial payment so I can seek out another business for the project. On March 16, 2023 they confirmed closing the permit but then stopped responding to me entirely and they finally returned my entire deposit on May 8, 2023. I highly recommend that you look elsewhere for any electrical work. The other contractor I hired after CUSI had all my work started and completed within a couple weeks.

We have been very happy with Downtown Electric and use them every time. They are quick! and responsive! Work well with the building inspectors. We have had them install lighting on our porch columns, our backyard soffit and updated lots of outlets in the kitchen, too. Thanks guys!

Downtown Electric and lighting is my go to electrical company. We moved here less than a year ago. They have installed overhead lighting and fans. We are very happy with their work. Joey the owner has been doing this forver and the rest of his electricians I trust completely. They super knowledgeable, friendly and informative. If I have any questions, I know I can call them to answer my questions and as a bonus they will come out to the house just to show me what they were talking about. They are reasonably priced and reliable. Love em.

I contacted this company due to their awesome reviews and customer feedback online! I’ve now spoken to 3 different people with them and they have all been professional and courteous. Todd was the technician that came to my house and gave a BUNCH of his time for a free estimate and talked many options with me. By the time he had left, I felt like I had learned quite a bit and now know I have more options more knowledge in my arsenal for my future plans with the house. They all (especially Todd) definitely went above and beyond to make sure that I had ALL of the appropriate knowledge needed before making any big decision on what to do with my house, electrically and otherwise. Working with Downtown Electric was a breeze, like the new whole house fan they installed in my home! Between working with Malachi on the bid, having the electricians (Nik) carefully install the whole house fan and clean up the mess, to Julie following up on my experience -- they really are an awesome team. Todd came out to my home today to give me a quote on various projects and a few quick fixes. Not only was he great with our dogs and very friendly, but knowledgeable and informative. He took the time to listen to my concerns and gave great advice. He even helped fix my “broken” garbage disposal while at the house. I assumed the switch was broken, but he reset the disposal and problem solved! Very impressed with Todd and expect nothing less from the rest of the team when we get the work done.

I called Downtown Electric to resolve an issue with my whole house fan and they scheduled me for an appointment only a couple of days away. The day prior to the appointment, they called to say they could have someone come by early to handle the issue. Their technicians were very professional and respectful, and resolved the issue quickly. Really appreciate the way Downtown Electric responds to calls and goes out of the way to do even better than already great service.

I would recommend Downtown Electric and Lighting to anyone. Their customer service is exceptional which is a rare find in 2020. Their technicians are also very knowledgeable, professional, and just over all nice. I've completed 3 jobs with them so far and they have all been excellent. In addition, I had a fourth job quoted but decided not to pursue it at the time. There was absolutely no pressure to have the work done, which I appreciated. Their prices are reasonable and lower than other electricians that I have worked with in the past. Finally, they are locally owned and operated, which is another benefit.

I had a great experience with Downtown today. I had a short in one or my power lines that serviced the garage and outside lighting. The fault would trip the CB and not let it reset. The original company that was assigned to fix this problem told me they couldn’t get someone out to service me until 10 days from now. I then contacted Downtown and they also were swamped but could have someone out as early as Monday. I told them we couldn’t get our cars out of the garage and had no lighting. The dispatcher said she would see what they could do. About 5 minutes later I receive a call telling me someone would be out by noon. Sure enough about 11:55 Glen and Nicholas show up, quickly isolate the fault and resolve the problem efficiently and professionally. Thank you Downtown. I’ll will Highly recommend you and your staff to friends, family and neighbors. Job Well Done

Downtown Electric & Lighting was outstanding. Nick and Dirk were incredibly kind, considerate, and professional. Their craftsmanship was impressive and the team treated my home and family with respect during the entire process. They insisted on cleaning up after each repair/upgrade and we couldn't be happier with their work. Highly recommend the company, and definitely ask for Nick and Dirk! I have worked with downtown electric twice. The first was a several stage Kitchen remodel project (and also to unscrew the previous electrician’s work) and the second was a random batch of electrical upgrades throughout the house. Both experiences were excellent. They were very punctual, knowledgeable, and friendly. The teams were efficient and seemed to have an excellent supply of equipment with as I believe I am a bit of a pain in “adding” last second “ideas” and they were gracious enough to accommodate where possible and educate throughout so I felt the work was collaborative. They also got me scheduled quickly. During the kitchen remodel, since I had other intervening work/steps between the electrical installations they were excellent with communication and follow up. They were also readily available for questions after the work was over. I would definitely recommend. Also, while competency and quality is excellent, I have also really been impressed with the character of the folks I have worked with. They are all super nice, conscientious people, and Joey is awesome. I have zero qualms about them getting work done when I have to step out or be at work myself. Oh and good prices!

The owner (who did our initial estimate) was very friendly and understood that I was getting a few bids before starting the work we needed done. He also explained what work needed to be done and went over the estimate with me and appeared to be in no hurry.
Then the two gentleman that did the work updating our home electrical and installing the plug for our Tesla were prompt, professional, polite, finished before I expected, cleaned up the workspace, and communicated very well during the process.
From the office staff to the electricians who came to the house, I was extremely pleased with Swartz Electric. I would definitely recommend this company and personally use this company again for any future electrical needs.

I got bids from 2 electricians for an EV charger install and I wish now I had used the other one. Although the Swartz quote was higher at $1000, I went with them as they said they would install going through the attic access that is in the garage and go down to the charger instead of going across the studs and they guaranteed a pass. The installation I got instead is a mess with going up and down through the studs instead of through the attic area and it did NOT pass.
I was told by the electrician that the office would call to schedule the inspection, after a week I called the office only to be told they didn't know a permit was requested (yet it was in the installation and listed in quote). The office told me they would call me when they knew the inspector would come out. Nope, instead I got a call from the inspector the next day and said he was on his way thankfully I hadn't left the house yet but was about to, so I stuck around. He failed the inspection due to no GFI breaker. I called Swartz and let them know they failed, and they sent out 2 people for the next day. According to them it didn't need a GFI breaker as it was built into the charger itself. They said they would contact the inspector and get it sorted out. I then texted the office telling them to let me know if the inspector would need to come back or email me the passed permit.
Two weeks went by with no communication, and I checked the website for building permits, and it is still listed as a Fail. I left a voicemail yesterday and had my husband leave one today and no response. I spent $1000 on an EV charger to be installed to fail and not be installed the way I was quoted. Their communication is terrible; they can’t pass inspection but they already have my money so what do they care? I will be using a different company when we finish our basement.
