Devon was my technician. Really cool, down to earth and the quotes were extremely reasonable. Decided to go for 2 outlet installs and not the 3rd because I thought about how I was going to rearrange the garage in that moment. Very pleasant experience and he was very professional.

Swartz was acquired in November 2025. I do not recommend this company. Disregard any great reviews prior to that date—it’s a fundamentally different business now.

Summary: Electrician was here less than an hour, flipped some switches in my electrical box, and charged me ~$400. In contacting the company, I was ultimately offered $150 on the condition that I gave my technician a five star review. My voice being heard is more valuable to me than $150.

I had used this company prior to the acquisition/merger (technically the acquisition happened Nov 4th, and my appointment was on Nov 20th or so when I assume the new business policies weren't in place), and they were phenomenal. I thought I’d found my “no-brainer”—any time I needed electrical work done, I’d go to Swartz. Based on my recent experience, I would never do business with them again.

Post-acquisition, there is a ~$58–$68 fee that is simply a dispatch charge to get an electrician to your door and does not include any actual work or troubleshooting. That fee itself is reasonable. What followed was not.

A simple electrical issue was escalated into an unnecessary “advanced diagnostic” costing $381 (also new as of the acquisition I believe), only for the electrician to eventually discover that the problem was just partially tripped breakers that needed to be fully reset. That is the most basic troubleshooting step and should have been done immediately.

There is no safety rule, code requirement, or licensing restriction that prevents an electrician from resetting a breaker during an initial assessment. An electrician might reasonably pause only if there is evidence of burn marks, overheating, a breaker that immediately re-trips, water intrusion, known damaged wiring, or commercial lockout–tagout requirements. None of those conditions applied here. Any suggestion otherwise reflects company policy or sales process—not an industry standard.

Instead of resolving the issue upfront, I was pushed toward advanced diagnostics and then told the $381 diagnostic fee could be waived if I agreed to replace three plug-in breaker components for approximately $1,200. The components were on the older side, but still functional. They will one day die, and when they do, it will not be Swartz Electric replacing them.

This experience felt like a textbook upsell rather than competent, methodical troubleshooting. Nothing about this situation justified advanced diagnostics or costly replacements. The issue required no parts, no special tools, and no advanced expertise.

Given how different the experience was before the acquisition, I strongly suspect many of the positive reviews reflect the company as it used to operate, not how it does now.

    Proceed with extreme caution.

    Update:
I did attempt to contact the Swartz and here's how the process went:
    1. I called Bethany and picked up. This was at 11:15 am. She put me on hold to contact dispatch.
    2. Dispatch told Bethany that the next step would be to have my technician chat with me and explain all the things he did.
    3. I told Bethany I had a good understanding of what was done, I just didn't understand how an electrician would miss something so basic and escalate to the "advanced diagnostics" test. I told her this would not solve my issue, and it wouldn't be going away.
    4. She escalated me to her manager, who called me back within 30 minutes.
    5. At 11:46am, I chatted with the manager, who once again tried to convince me why the work was worth $381. After a 13 minute conversation, I finally threw out a number that I'd be satisfied with a $150 refund. The manager had to check with his manager to get the refund approved.
    6. The manager called me back at 2:19 pm, and said something along the lines of, "I do agree that we likely overcharged you a bit." I was offered the partial refund on the condition that I posted a five star review for the technician. I did not accept, obviously.

Look, Jack the technician was great: personable, punctual, professional. He doesn't choose the business practices. It's the business practices I take issue with.

What I truly appreciated was that the electrician, Bryson, who eventually carried out the task, was the same individual who initially came out, scoped the project, and gave a quote. This facilitated an in-depth discussion about the specifics and a chance to consider different alternatives before the actual work commenced. It also provided me with a chance to familiarize myself with the electrician who would be doing the job. Bryson was punctual, meticulous, allowed me to monitor the progress of the task, and finished it within the estimated time frame. I eagerly await the opportunity to work with him again in Colorado Springs.

In a blink, I'd give this electrician service more than 5 stars if I could. Not only were they one of the few that actually picked up the phone during my emergency, but they also prioritized easing my concerns by walking me through the procedure. The pair of electricians that came, trenton and bryson, are hands down some of the most friendly and knowledgeable folks i've ever encountered. The support staff and the boss made it an outright joy to engage with. I was so pleased with them that I've since called them back to handle additional work at our house post the initial emergency. I'll never need to look elsewhere for electrical services! I endorse them!

troy & sons electric was truly exceptional overall. a technician named bryson came to our aid when our home in colorado springs had lost power on a single wall on both sides. we thought there might have been a break in one of the circuits, as none of the breakers had tripped. we needed a professional electrician to accurately diagnose the problem. bryson not only identified the issue but also resolved it efficiently. the customer service was fantastic and they charged a flat rate. i'd strongly recommend troy & sons electric!

Extremely proficient. Punctual to the dot. The only hitches were that they slightly miscalculated the duration my job would need, but they were unexpectedly delayed while taking out an old breaker box, something they couldn't have predicted. The team from Troy & Sons Electric, including Trenton, Bryson, and Preston, were all exceptionally courteous and considerate, completing a comprehensive job at a fair cost. I strongly suggest them if you're in Colorado Springs! Highly recommend!

Bryson was impressively skilled and helpful. He had to repair/replace a substantial number of items at our Colorado Springs residence, but it's all done now, and we are deeply appreciative. Thanks to Troy & Sons Electric for sending him our way. (He definitely deserves a raise - he's a precious asset to your team!)

trenton and his team from Troy & Sons Electric were consistently on time and exhibited great professionalism. They were always present as promised and took care to clean up post-service. Not only during the initial electrical work, but they were also always ready to assist me even after. They helped me comprehend how my electrical panels were functioning and the way the meters operated. Truly, bryson and his team are good folks to engage with.

A year ago, i had some work done by an electrician when i first settled into my new home. I accidentally didn't save their contact and reached out to a different company for a quote. The proposed fee from this other company was shockingly high. Afterwards, i managed to locate the details of the previous electrician. The electrician, trenton, arrived promptly and provided a very fair quote, even offering to complete the job on the same day. In addition, he gave us a generous discount for being in the military, which we greatly appreciated. Trenton managed to finish the job in less than an hour. The other company had told us our electrical panel wasn't up to code and quoted an exorbitant fee to replace it. However, trenton reassured us that our electrical panel was perfectly up to code and didn't require any replacement. Now, i have this electrician's details saved and will always reach out to them for any future electrical needs. A big thank you to this electrician and to trenton. You both get a 5 star rating from me!

Bryson was on hand to assist with the wiring of two water heaters, along with managing some additional wiring alterations required for relocating a water heater from the front to the back of the house. He demonstrated exceptional professionalism, was punctual and offered services at a reasonable cost. I'll certainly be seeking Bryson's expertise for any future electrical tasks in Colorado Springs.

Trenton arrived punctually and finished the job within the day. He was attentive to our inquiries, presented us with alternatives and provided detailed explanations without making us feel rushed or pressured. We had new ventilation fans installed in our bathroom and had them vented through the roof here in Colorado Springs. Despite it being the first day of a heat advisory for the year, Trenton didn't let that deter him. He is a commendable, diligent, informed, polite, respectful, and hardworking electrician! We are incredibly thankful! May you be blessed!
