Poor schedule management. Came right away to start project (yea!), but then left with yard torn apart for over a month. Had to repeatedly call to get them back on the job. Many other scheduling delays. Felt like they had more valuable customers to attend to.

Make sure you get elevations. Our drawings really weren't professional enough to give us a clear picture of what the result would look like. Ended up hiring another firm to fix their issues after we got fed up.

Mile High disconnected our garage lighting and had to hire an electrician to fix it. The electrician they hired ended up drilling a hole into our water pipe, causing a leak into our basement. The electrician had to call a plumber to come to fix it. They were there until past midnight with us having no water for the day. A real comedy of errors.

One of the plants died and they claimed it was because we didn't use their watering schedule, but the two other plants were fine... Oh ya, first-month watering bill after they set the sprinklers was 600$...

We became so disillusioned with Mile-Hi I took the time to write-up our experience. I'm sure they will respond with seemingly good excuses. Just be careful.

There aren’t enough words. I explored many options for designing and implementing a major landscaping project for my mid-century modern home, including hiring a landscape architect to design and manage the project, to utilizing a design/build company that would do it all. It was clear that each option had pros and cons and there was no clear answer at the outset. The stakes seemed high: my property was overrun by juniper shrubs that had not been touched in close to 60 years. There were portions of the quarter-acre property that probably hadn’t been touched by human feet in decades. The house itself was completely remodeled prior to my purchase of it — it is a local mid-century gem and so deserved to have landscaping that honors it vs. detracting from it. I knew this would be a major project and I desperately wanted to work with someone who cared as much about this place as I do (or almost as much, anyway).

Enter Will Hyde and Mile High Landscaping. After all those interviews with architects and other design/build companies, it became clear that this was my best option. Will is extremely knowledgeable, experienced, easy to get along with, and he listens as well as he advises. He’s a phenomenal designer who has hired and trained other phenomenal designers. The man is honest. I mean truly honest. There were many opportunities for Will or his employees to do the wrong thing — hiccups and the unexpected that come up naturally. And every single time they had the opportunity to choose, they did the right thing. Even when they didn’t know I was watching. It was simply astonishing, and so heartening, to witness people who cared about the work, took pride in it, worked well together, and communicated well and often.

Here’s something else that could be easy to overlook: the owner’s relationship with his crew. I met at least three of Will’s foremen during the time my project was underway. They, too, were honest and knowledgable, as well as respectful of me and my home. And the guys who worked for them — essentially the laborers — were all clearly happy in their work, took pride in it, and got along well with those who were senior to them. I never saw a person do something halfway, and I often saw someone go above and beyond. I never heard a whispered complaint or saw an expression of frustration or anger. Everyone just seemed to get along, support each other, and know what needed to happen for the job to be a success. Over the months it took to complete the project, I saw the same faces. There appears to be no revolving door of crew at Mile High.

Engaging in a project of the magnitude of this one was scary — it was a significant commitment financially as well as in time and attention. Working with Will and his team was a delight, even when the inevitable challenges arose. It’s so important to work with people one can trust who will adjust as things evolve on the project. I am so glad I took the time and effort to find and ultimately decide to hire Will and Mile High Landscaping. I will honestly say that going forward, whenever someone tells me they’re planning a landscaping project and are considering any other company than Mile High, I will respond “Why the heck would you do that?” The appearance of my beloved home is testimony to Will’s design and implementation skills. But the experience of working with Mile High can’t be seen. From my experience there is every reason imaginable to hire these guys.

I hired Mile High Landscaping to perform a major renovation of my back patio, and I could not be happier. They were excellent at everything, but in particular, the quality of their hardscape is impeccable. The welder is amazing. The crew built and installed six massive steel beams to support our large arbor and everything about it was done well - how deep they buried them, the powder coat, the styling. I am in love with the patio tiles Will helped us pick and the pattern in which they are laid. The welder also designed a gorgeous fence and gate with alternating sizes of steel slats. (I know they took a loss on that fence and it's amazing). In fact, after getting a few other bids and designs, the reason I chose Mile High is because Will was the only one to have a creative and beautiful idea to hide our fuse box and hose connections - an idea no other company seemed to come up with. Everything about the styling and design of our arbor, fire pit, water feature, and tree placement was done with fantastic eye. We get compliments every time we have people over. Will did an awesome job with the outdoor lighting. Finally, they took a chance on us (and vice versa) in pouring a concrete bar and it turned out fantastically. I don't trust easily, and eventually I learned to just trust their ideas and vision and it worked out great. The landscaping is lovely and they tolerated a ton of input and indecision from me. Overall, I couldn't recommend them highly enough and I plan to hire them again for our front porch. This was a big job and they handled everything well. It has held up gorgeously through a full year and I can't wait to see what the landscaping grows into soon. If you're looking for a local company with a friendly and respectful crew, designers with a modern but practical eye, and a company that will listen to you - this is it!

We needed help with a half-acre+ yard that hadn’t been touched in 20 years or more — a huge mess of overgrown trees, eroded grading and long-gone decks, patios and walkways. We talked to numerous landscapers who left us feeling like we’d just talked more with a used car salesman than a professional landscaper — and who also could only help with certain parts of our project, not the deck and hardscaping elements, etc. We were at a loss. Then came Mile High Landscaping. We’re so glad we found them!

Where other companies came in and gave us a play-by-play of what they thought we needed, Will took the time to walk the entire property with us to understand what we were working with and how we’d most like to use the space.

First, he came up with some amazingly creative ideas with a few really special elements — like a modern horizontal fence to break up the big front yard and an extended front porch with built-in seating to highlight our mountain views. Then, he provided thorough, professional 3D renderings that gave us a really clear idea of what to expect (and also got us beyond excited about moving forward with the project). Will helped us understand the costs of the various components and how we could adjust or phase certain features to stay within budget while maintaining the integrity of the design.

Not your typical landscaping company, Mile High was able to help with every piece of our landscaping/hardscaping project — from the planning, permitting, grading, and new decks and patios all the way down to a perfectly executed address plate at the front gate. Will was beyond professional, and he communicated in a way that kept us both informed and at ease at every stage of the project.

If you’re looking to work with a creative professional who will deliver a high-end landscape and a good experience, Will and his team are the firm for the job!

I had my entire back yard landscaped by Mile High and, from the first contact, I was blown away by their professionalism, creativity and responsiveness. Even after the amazingly beautiful actual work was completed, they stayed in touch (for years!) and have been continually helpful with any needed tweaks, such as replacing bulbs in the landscape lights and resetting the water feature when it settled and become slightly uneven... all free of charge! I very highly recommend them.

There was more construction then landscaping , new patio roof, wall removal and replaced with sliding glass doors and a beautifully done work shed. Will and his crew were responsive to calls and emails , respectful to neighbors and cleaned up on a daily basis. Give these guys a shot you will not be disappointed.

Awesome work with truly unique design!

We solicited numerous landscaping vendors and provided a high level overview of the style wanted. All other vendors merely came back with another one of their standard designs. Will and his team actually listened to our request and provided us with a unique design that truly matched our vision. The original plan was more than desired, but was easily scaled to fit our budget. Ultimately, this provided a cohesive design for any potential additions we may want to add in the future.

The quality of work was top notch - completed on schedule and at proposed budget. The few small warranty items we did have were handled extremely professionally, timely, and without debate.

I called Mile High Landscaping based on their impressive portfolio. Within a week Will came out to get a feel for what would work best and fit my budget. He came back with a full design plan and with a couple of small tweaks here and there we were ready to hit the ground running. I trusted Will to create something awesome within my budget and he did not disappoint! I was able to get squeezed in a full month early. Construction took about 1.5 weeks and before I knew it my backyard was transformed into a beautiful oasis. The plant and trees Will recommended are all thriving and look so cool at night with the outdoor lighting. But the real winner here is the fire pit. Not only does it have the ability to pump some serious heat/flame out, but it is just a beautiful piece of art.

We hired Mile High Landscaping (MHL) to update the backyard of our Berkeley neighborhood duplex and couldn’t be happier with the experience and the results. They listened to our needs and offered a wonderful plan that was functional, beautiful and within our budget. Their subs and employees were fabulous to work with at every step of the project. Most of the subs had worked with MHL for years and all were clearly experienced and knowledgeable. We were constantly amazed at the way the backyard was left each evening regardless of the progress of the project or the sub involved. Employees and subs always cleaned any trash, swept, used a blower, if appropriate, and allowed us to continue using the backyard throughout the project.

Their follow-up after project completion has also been wonderful. We are so pleased with the results of our project that we plan to have MHL design and install a new fence to frame our beautiful new backyard.

For reference, we installed porcelain tile, a custom-fabricated pergola with a retractable cover, a gorgeous custom-fabricated fire pit, artificial grass, new rocks/gravel, concrete steppingstones, lighting and plantings. Contrary to another review, all permits, inspections, and other aspects were handled by MHL without our involvement and in a timely fashion.

Don't confuse MHL with another Denver company with a similar name! We can't recommend them enough. You won't be disappointed!

Mile High Landscaping just finished a beautiful project at my home. This was phase 2 of an earlier large scale project and it was a pleasure to work again with Will Hyde, Vanessa, Jorge and his crew. The entire process went very smoothly from initial consultations to installation. Will was able to fit my medium sized project in between other commitments and everything was scheduled and completed approximately 2 weeks from my first consultation. My project required removal of all my japanese beetle infested vines and replacement with a variety of new vines, fill in of garden beds with new fall bloomers, removal /replacement of a blighted tree, retrofitting of a walkway and new landscape lighting to showcase all the amazing new work. Everything was completed in two days and my yard looks incredible!

Very amateur project management experience and ability to execute on projects. Never on site to supervise workers, and multiple parts of the project had to be redone. Paid a premium and had to do tons of work ourselves to make sure things were done properly. Permits and gas line inspections wouldn’t have been done/closed if homeowner hadn’t requested. Would not recommend; however we were overall satisfied with some aspects of the final project so will give two stars.

Will designed and installed a masterpiece at a friends house several years ago. It was and still is a sight to behold. We were impressed with the workmanship and quality of every aspect of our friends' project. As the years have gone by, their yard has matured and grown in. It looks even better than the first few years, but we were impressed with how it looked from day one. Their landscaping, water feature, fire pit and iron work have withstood the test of time. Fast forward to present day. When we moved from the suburbs into North Cherry Creek, we knew we wanted Will Hyde and Mile High to turn our sad little side yard into a masterpiece as well. Will did not disappoint. We are so happy with how our project has turned out. The quality of the work is impeccable and Will and his crew are all a joy to work with. We highly recommend this company. We were recommended to Mile High Landscaping by a friend for our home. When we met with Will he was professional and listened earnestly. We provided him with images of styles and ideas we liked. After a few weeks he presented his idea to us and we loved it.

The scope was far too big to complete in one project so we phased it and began work on the first phase the following spring, it could’ve been earlier but we wanted a sand finish on the concrete - this requires higher temps than other finishes. The crews were great though we had one build issue. We worked with Will and his team and made lemonade from lemons. He made it right and we all ended up with a better design in the end!

After living with phase 1 for the last 3 years (and getting constant compliments on the patio and pergola) we are now ready to complete the project with Will. We met recently and are excited to make some small updates to our design. We spent time going over desired budget and reworked areas to save cost here and “do it right” or splurge there. We are looking forward to continuing to work with Will and his team.

We were looking for a full service design-build firm to help us transform our small yard in the Stapleton area. The job would require a full demolition of our backyard, including our two-story deck (from the original home builder) to rebuild a bigger and better one. In addition to the new deck, we wanted a water feature and fireplace, but weren't sure how to make it work. From the moment we spoke to the team at Mile High, we knew we had the right partner. They saw our vision and transformed our space into a glorious outdoor living room. As mentioned in previous reviews, Mile High retains a craftsman in the form of a welder that can create custom steel masterpieces. We have a gorgeous water feature that also serves as a planter to separate our new deck/dining area from our fireplace/seating area. It is a living art installation in the summer months with potato vines and flowers. I will have to post pictures at a later date. Our deck is beautiful and with the new dry-below, we can sit outside while it is raining and not get wet from the upper deck. The team was thorough, timely, and the owner Will, personally addressed any post-project adjustments. The design that Mile High brought us was incredible and they were amazing to work with. From 2 new decks, water feature, custom fireplace, concrete, turf, and a new fence, I'll be forever grateful for their service.

Jon and his team professionally executed a landscape design tailored to our minimalist preferences for our front yard. Every member was respectful, attentive and had great attitudes. They reviewed our preferences at every step of the design process and provided expert support to assure that the final product fit seamlessly into our neighborhood.

I was a stickler for detail and they had similar high standards for their work. When our custom concrete steps did not turn out as anticipated due to unusually cold weather during curing, they were on the same page and replaced them. When a custom gate was not latching perfectly 6 months later during the winter his team fixed it quickly and expertly to my satisfaction.

All projects will have these issues during construction and it's how a company stands behind its work that separates the best companies from the competition. If you're price shopping, they will not be your cheapest option, but you get what you pay for. I highly recommend their services and you will not be disappointed.

Hired Mile High Landscaping recently for a big project including a pergola, outdoor kitchen, and gas fire pit; turned out great. Crew was hardworking, responsive, and fast, would definitely hire them again!

Mile High recently installed a front garden fence, restored a back garden fence, and made improvements to our back patio area. This is the second time we've hired Mile High, and both times the work has been outstanding. We enjoy working with Tyler as the project manager, and with Steve and his metal working expertise, and with all the excellent crews that work on the projects. The cost of our projects was reasonable and a good value. I would not hesitate to hire Mile High again, and highly recommend them.

We live in an urban neighborhood in Denver and therefore, have a smaller backyard space. We wanted to utilize the area in the best way possible, making it both functional and aesthetically pleasing. We knew it would need quite the overhaul and the perfect design to make our vision happen. We contacted Mile High Landscaping because of their experience with smaller urban backyard spaces. We could not have been more pleased with the outcome. The entire process and cost is laid out from the beginning, from the design phase to the execution and completion. There were no surprises, which made the project a very pleasant experience. Our designer and project manager, Tyler, was great to work with for the project. We loved his design and his creativity but also his professionalism the entire process. He was easy to reach and quick to respond with any questions we had. The ground crew was also friendly, tidy, highly skilled and very communicative during the execution phase. We could not be happier with the outcome. Everyone that sees the space is so impressed with the before and after. We area looking forward to warmer weather when we can utilize the new space. I highly recommend Mile High Landscaping. I would use them again for future landscaping projects.
