Electrical reviews in Fort Collins, Colorado
-
I had a fantastic experience with Sandbox Solar installing my PV system. From my project assistant, Casandra, to John’s and Wyatt’s hardware and electrical installation teams, respectively, all were hardworking, and super friendly!! They did a bang-up job of guiding me through both the installation process and the actual installation itself.

The installation team of Clay, Bailee and Cavin were wonderful to work with. They took the time to explain the steps and followed through with any questions I had. They finished their work on time. I highly recommend this team to install your solar. Thanks Sandbox.

Had an excellent experience getting our solar panel system designed and installed. After some design iterations, ended up with 17 panels, a new electrical panel, and EV wiring for the garage.
The installation went smoothly, and communication before, during, and after was great.
Highly recommend. -
Solar Sandbox as a company and individually every person I interacted with are truly remarkable. They not only did a great job removing my Solar Panels and then reinstalling after my recent new roof but they went above and beyond rescuing baby birds (pigeons), putting them in buckets and placing in the shade until another staffer came and took them to a sanctuary. The rest of the staff either gave me updates on the birds or asked about them. This is truly amazing in today's world. Customer service was excellent and timely. I would definitely recommend them if you are looking to install Solar or if you other solar needs as I did.

We were so happy to have power during the Boulder outage two weeks ago thanks to our new Powerwall. Thanks are in order for Sandbox’s installers (we love the ground mount Bama & Tony!) and electricians for a job masterfully done!

Sandbox Solar is a great company with a great product and a fabulous staff. Charles did my install more than a year ago and I am seeing the payback on my electricity bills. I highly recommend Sandbox Solar for your solar needs.

Sandbox Solar did an awesome job with the installation of our new 6 kw system! The solar system has been operational for just under a month at this point and has been performing flawlessly.
Installation was quick, painless, and done with attention to detail. Efa was a great help and guide to us throughout the permitting/installation/power on process, and Wyatt and his team were friendly and did a great job - even going so far as to help us clean out one of our higher gutters (unprompted) while on our roof. -
Great experience thus far with our solar project. Boston and Brody handled the initial install and were very efficient, knowledgeable, and kind. They know their stuff. Kevin and Andrew have been informative along the way. I would recommend!

Five stars isn’t enough! We had to have our roof replaced after hail damage which included removing then, reinstalling or panels. I can’t say enough about how friendly, courteous and respectful Clay, Aroura and Bailee were while working at our home. They went above and beyond in so many ways. They were conscientious of our property and our pets. We kept them inside during the work but they insisted we should let them out to do their business making sure to keep the gate closed while also showing kindness to them. I can actually say they made the experience enjoyable. Just the nicest people!

Ryan and Clays team did a wonderful job on our roof on Anchor drive on a very windy and cold afternoon. In about 2 hours they installed two sets of solar panels and ran conduit thru a very difficult attic. We were very impressed with their professionalism and work ethic.

Sandbox has been a great company thus far. Communication was great and the components used in the system are some of the best on the market. The installation team Calvin and Wyatt were super knowledgeable helpful in explaining much of the components of the system to me. Excellent company and happy we found them.

I chose Sandbox Solar after getting a few different quotes from solar companies, ultimately choosing Sandbox because (1) their installs looked a little "cleaner"/prettier than others and (2) they were a local Fort Collins company. Their costs were better for a small system, but were more expensive for a larger system (Apollo was the most economical choice). The salesperson was generally pretty attentive and answered questions within a couple of days of an email. I ended up getting a 9.66kW system for $35k.
My main issue was that communication with Sandbox was absolutely HORRIBLE. I was told upfront that I would be assigned a CSR or something who would keep me informed of progress, and then I heard almost nothing for months. I actually heard more about this project from the City of Fort Collins, who would send emails about the project progression since I was a person of record on the project.
When I asked for status updates, I was redirected to a web platform that didn't work or given canned responses that essentially equated to, "we'll let you know." But the problem was, they hadn't been letting me know, which is why I was asking. I always needed to pull to get information, and that was very frustrating, especially because I was trying to coordinate with other contractors doing work. When the PV (photovoltaic) install crew came, they got everything installed relatively quickly, but one of the things they had an issue with was the location of my Fort Collins Connexion box, and they told me it needed to be relocated (and where). So I had Connexion come out to move the box, but then when the electrician came and installed his upgrades, it didn't pass inspection because the Connexion box was in the way, even though it was moved to the exact location the earlier crew told me to. So I needed to have Connexion come out and move the box AGAIN, and schedule another inspection with the City. I also received conflicting information about whether I needed to remove a tree trunk that was close to my house (already pegged for removal), so I wasn't sure how to prioritize that project, and it turns out that it did need to be removed before the project could pass City inspection.
Even after everything was installed and seemingly OK, I didn't hear anything about next steps or when it would be live or how to monitor or anything. I finally did get an email from a separate 3rd Party (not even direct from Sandbox) that I finally had permission to operate 2 weeks later.
One last anecdote, in order to qualify for a discount, I needed to provide 3 referrals. The referrals that I submitted were all warm, interested parties (i.e., not just 3 friends who would humor them in order for me to get my discount), and I later asked them, and all of them told me that Sandbox never even contacted them. Eeks. In the middle of the project, I actually had Sandbox come out and quote me adding an EV Charger to the installation and a heat pump, but I was so disillusioned that I ended up moving forward on both projects with different companies. They never even followed up after the initial quote, which I think was another wasted opportunity to create a positive "touchpoint" with a customer.
These are relatively simple fixes to put in place, but it takes organizational commitment, and I never got the impression that anyone cared about it. I have no regrets [so far] with the quality of work or the equipment, but communication and coordination (including internal coordination) are a key part of the user experience, and in that, Sandbox let me down deeply. -
Our solar system was installed a couple years ago and has worked out well. The install went well and the few issues we have had were communicated and repaired by Dan and his team in a timely fasion and have held up.
The app allows you to monitor the system. They have to make all the adjustments to the system, which requires a couple of calls, but not a major imposition. -
The team (Teal) that came out to install our panels were great. We had some very cold weather along with a snowstorm that prevented them from getting the job done the first day, but they were back bright and early the next day. They swept the snow off the roof and worked until all the panels were up. Chris and his team were very professional and friendly.

I hate leaving bad reviews, but I had a bad experience. When we signed the contract in early July of 25', we were given a 120-day lead-time. As the date approached, we were told it was now going to be 150 day lead-time. This was problematic because of the expiring tax credits. We hired them based on the 120-day timeframe. After applying pressure on the installation date, which should have been around November 10th. I received an email in mid-November with four available dates during the week of Thanksgiving. I replied two hours later with my preferred installation date. I got an email back that all the spots were now taken, no other explanation... So, I replied and asked for further explanation and was told that they had made a scheduling mistake... I kept applying polite but persistent pressure via email to get my installation scheduled, and I kept being told that the installation team would contact me at an unknown date in December. It was very frustrating; the tax credit was set to expire at the end of December, and I could not get a straight answer, not even a ballpark date. Then I finally got an email on Friday, Dec 5th, after 4 p.m., that my system would be installed the following Monday. Talk about a last-minute notice. Fortunately, I was able to be there because they have to have access to the attic. On Monday, they got the panels on the roof and informed me that the panels were defective... It had snowed over the weekend, and no one put a tarp over the panels, so moisture got inside through the back of the panels and ruined them... To their credit, they came out the next day and finished the job. We got permission to operate on Dec 30th. This is why I am giving them two stars instead of one. This should have been an easy process, but it was very unpleasant because of poor communication, poor execution, and an installation that was a month late.

The Sandbox Solar crew did an outstanding job from start to finish and beat any competing proposals hands down. This was a complex project since it involved placing all the panels on the barn roof and feeding 3 buildings including the barn. They maximized the amount of trenching and conduit and were able to make changes as required to provide what I consider and optimal system. They are also some of the best people you'll ever work with. And we're loving the negative consumption on sunny days!

Estimates were easy to understand and we were able to build out everything to suit our needs. Clay and his install team were incredible. They minimized the amount of noise as much as they could so I could work. They were efficient and were right on schedule. They even came early on the first day which is unusual for contractors. Clay has great communication the whole time and ensured I was comfortable with every step of the install. Great job all around.

Sandbox installed our system in summer 2024, and we’ve had no problems since. The installation crew was professional and quick. We’re very happy with Sandbox and we would highly recommend them for anyone looking to make the jump to solar in Fort Collins.

Sandbox Solar is excellent, they have worked on my Tesla system - mainly for detach and reinstall for a remodel and roofing work on my home. They have been excellent, I wanted to shout out to the crew that did the detach and re-install Clay, Bailee, and Brodie, really nice crew, got everything hooked up and it looks great. Highly recommended.

I own homes in multiple states and have been exploring solar energy solutions. While shopping at Home Depot with a friend, I had the opportunity to speak with a team member from Sandbox Solar. They clearly explained the benefits of solar, including energy buyback programs, and how batteries can provide added value and reliability for homeowners. I was genuinely impressed by their knowledge and approach, and I’m looking forward to working with them
