We hired Grey Rock to install a French drain to resolve basement flooding during heavy rains, and to replace a sunken concrete patio. They were very professional and polite. The project manager communicated often with us and they were always eager to explain options and to give reasons for their recommendations. Since the concrete was poured in the cold weather, it needed to be covered up every night for about a week. Each morning, someone was here to expose the concrete to the air, and then each evening someone came back to cover it up to protect it from negative temps. They went above and beyond to meet all of our needs and their work was exceptional!!

Grey Rock Landscape worked on the new landscape for our backyard last May and we couldn’t be happier. During the initial meeting with Dakota, we discussed our ideas and he made some suggestions based on his experience and that left us confident that they could perform the work. The communication with him and his construction team was fantastic as they kept us informed throughout the project. The entire team was extremely pleasant, polite, and positive during the demolition and construction of the new flagstone patio, pea gravel area for a future xeriscape, chipped stone walkway, sod, sprinklers, and edging. Even when we had them follow-up on a few minor cosmetic issues, they returned with the same smile and pleasant attitude, happy to make sure we were satisfied. We are very pleased with the results and highly recommend Grey Rock Landscape.

Grey Rock replaced two decaying timber retaining walls along
concrete steps from the backyard patio to an exterior basement door. The owner, Dakota, came to our house to talk with us about our plans. He examined the existing walls and surrounding area, provided options for replacing them, and quickly submitted a written quote for doing the work. The crew that came to do the work was excellent. The job leader, Becket,was constantly communicating with us about the job status and construction details. They built the walls and provided the drainage features exactly as the job was bid. Everyone on the crew was friendly, polite and respectful. They did all the work during a very damp, cold period in February. Becket even came back later after the weather improved to do extra clean-up and make some minor repairs. We were very satisfied with Grey Rock.

I am absolutely delighted with my project done by Grey Rock Landscape. They did a beautiful job renovating my yard for xeriscaping. This was a challenging site site on a slope with potential drainage issues. Dakota has an excellent, hard working team who have great expertise and design instincts. I had a great experience with this company! I needed a large, random hole dug for some soil/ground water testing. Dakota came out, said it was no big deal and started on it the next morning. He was quick and very skilled on the excavator. My animals we're really interested in what was going on, but he was great with them and let them hang out around the project. Price was more than fair and they did exactly what they said. 10/10, absolutely recommend! Solid guys, great company.

We imagined a nice flagstone patio, water feature, and some existing irrigation and yard upgrades to the home in which we moved this summer. The crew was a lot of fun, hard working, and very thoughtful. I especially appreciated the thorough and considerate job they always did regarding drainage and the movement of water. The flagstone patio and water feature look like an Ad in a national homes magazine! We are so proud of the work and the beauty that has been added to our outdoor space.

We love this project because the outdoor space that it created has become our daily retreat. We spend time out there every day and love the sound of the waterfall while and bubbling brook while we sit on our custom stone bench and wait for the grill to heat up on its new, Pennsylvania Blue flagstone pad!

In fall 2024 my wife and I contracted with Yardzen and then Grey Rock to re-landscape our 15,000 sq ft lot in south Boulder after an extensive renovation to the original ranch home. We chose Gray Rock Landscape because it was recommended by Yardzen, because of these online reviews, because its cost estimate was competitive, and because its owner Dakota visited our property and developed the estimate.

The job -- which included a full irrigation system, hydroseeded clover front lawn, small backyard sod lawn, wraparound gravel buffer and breeze pathway, a brick paver front walkway, and the planting of small plants and a few trees -- was completed over a few weeks in September. The crew started a little later than expected, and took a little longer than expected, and over the winter I noticed several items that needed to be addressed. The biggest of these was the breeze, which was sand-based and not compacting -- when water-logged (like after heavy rains and throughout the winter) it was mushy and a very ill-suited pathway material.

This sounds like a poor experience so far, but I'm giving Grey Rock five stars because *they made things right*. This week the crew, led by Logan, returned to embed steppers into the breeze pathways, to entirely replace the breeze where a shed will be built, and to fix the smaller items as well. To us, this demonstrated that Dakota will go above-and-beyond to satisfy his customers.

As a fellow small business owner, I completely understand that mistakes will be made. The question is how the owner responds. In this case, Dakota handled it exceptionally well, and I would strongly recommend him for this reason.
