We used The Concrete Company several years ago to report our driveway after it was poured by a company that used hot concrete. Alex and his guys were amazing and did an outstanding job for us then. We decided to take out a deck that we had had for six years at the front of our house and put a patio in. There was no question that we were going to call Alex and the work that he did was absolutely fantastic with his crew.

They came when they said they were going to. They came the time that they said they were going to and they were done in a matter of a couple days. I will use them anytime I ever need concrete done again and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Very honest and straight about his plan and even though we had other meetings with other concrete, I knew they were the one I wanted to work with. We had a great experience with The Concrete Company. They came when they said they would, did the work professionally, and were courteous. Our driveway has held up well. They took the time to level the ground and compact it. They did not pour over snow or ice. They used concrete blankets after the pour to ensure the integrity of the concrete.

Project 2 - Concrete patio and sidewalk

We loved the Concrete Company so much that we hired them again to remove and replace our old concrete patio. This work included demo and removal of the old patio, setting up and pouring the new patio, and the finishing touches. During the set up the Concrete Company set up a drainage system that ran the roof and gutter water away from the foundation. Concrete Blankets were used to ensure the cement properly cured. They did a fantastic job with the clean up.

In late March/early April, My wife and I hired Alex and his team to pour a concrete patio for our backyard. We had a few companies bid for this project and Alex's bid came in at a significantly better value. My wife and I are extremely happy with how the patio came out. If I were basing this review solely on the concrete patio itself, it would be a 5-star review.

Your experience may vary; however, this was my experience.
Before any work would be done, Alex told me his crew would put down boards for the skid steer loader to drive over so that any damage to my grass would be minimal. However, no boards were put down and damage occurred to one of my underground irrigation lines. My backyard has a security camera set up, so I was able to see when the damage happened. Alex's crew fixed the damage to this irrigation line, but only after I sent Alex pictures and videos of the damage occurring.

Once the crew had finished pouring concrete, Alex did not stop by for a final walkthrough. So, I called and texted him about a couple of open items I wanted addressed before the project was finished. First item: When the crew had set my AC units down, the AC's flex conduit had pushed into the wet concrete leaving a small impression that needed to be patched. Second item: The crew had dug up my irrigation control wiring and poured concrete over it. While I would have preferred to have the wiring run through some conduit before concrete was poured over it, this was not the case. Previously, I had this control wiring running neatly along the side of my home before it went into the ground, so I asked if Alex could splice it and extend it so that the wiring lay neatly as it did before. Eventually, these items were addressed, but 3-4 weeks after Alex initially promised to do them.

Finally, upon starting up my irrigation system in May, I found that the other two zones had also been broken in the same fashion as the zone Alex's crew had repaired. Repairs were done to these other zones by my lawn service company, and I informed Alex that I had these repairs done. Alex offered to reimburse me 50% of the cost of the repairs; however, we were not able to settle on the reimbursement as the request was made for my wife and me not to post a review should we accept the reimbursement.

Again, overall, my wife and I are extremely happy with the concrete itself, but the lack of communication post-project led me to an overall 3-star experience. I can't recommend this company based on my experience.

Excellent crew! They were very informative on the project and answered all our questions. Did such a great job from start to finish. Very very happy with the results of our dog training facility they did for us.

They did the tear out and new concrete in place in 1 day, I was fully expecting a 2 day turn. The quality of work, professionalism of the crew and the price met my expectations. I will definitely have them bid another job down the road

Excellent job, finished same day, adapted well to last minute changes and all at a very fair price. Alex and team did a great job. Very professional. Very fair price, especially for the quality of the final product. I have dealt with so many bad contractors over the years. Alex runs a great company with a great crew. Who’s looking for a new deck? Stop. I’ve done the research for you. I contacted 4 of the largest deck Contractors. No call Back, one company never showed up and one gave me a 4 month lead time. I just happened to be golfing with a lady who was having her deck rebuilt. She gave me a name of “Jake-the-Deck-Guy” and within 48 hours I had a call back and an appt in 4 days.

Hunter Contractors had my deck down in 2 days. It was two tiered and about 18 years old. Jake-the-deck-guy identified rotting supports and other integral support issues. Days later the deck started to go up. Jake is experienced with a good composite material and an array of bannisters designs and lights. I quickly learned that the guy had better taste than I. With his experience and attention to detail, I knew to just let him do what he does best. The crew was respectful of the property and cleaned up every evening.

I was so relieved to have gone the right direction on this project. The project price was affordable and was what we had expected. This type of project is always a shot in the dark. I am extremely pleased with the deck. It is my favorite place to hang out. Stop your searching and give this guy a call.

Update October 2025: We had a great initial experience with Jake and Hunter Contracting (see original review below - it was an enthusiastic 5 stars). That information stands. However, this year we have had (and noticed) multiple issues with the deck, including warping boards, bowing boards, loose rails, boards not attached, and the deck pulling away from the house/broken connections to the house. These problems were identified in the winter/spring of 2025 (our deck was completed in October 2024). We contacted Jake via email, text, and/or call every few weeks for 6 months (April to October). He told us multiple times over the ensuing months that he would come fix these items. Our last few texts have gone unanswered, so we are finally giving up and hiring ANOTHER contractor to fix what was done incorrectly initially. We are super disappointed and thought we gave him many opportunities and a lot of time to address these problems (which we know happen).

Jake and his crew built our very large deck, with a unique design not within the same footprint as our previous deck. The deck turned out beautifully, and Jake really paid attention to all the little details. He was very creative, not only in finding ways to get us within our budget without compromising on quality (not a particularly easy feat), but also in identifying solutions to problems he encountered along the way. If you want someone who is going to really think through your project and requests and give you innovative recommendations on how to get it done, Jake is your guy.

Jake builds killer decks!! He is meticulous, detail oriented, customer focused and super friendly. Being an Aircraft Maintenance Tech, I'm pretty darn picky with details...this guy is SPOT on with details! He WILL build you what you WANT! You will not be dissapointed! Thanks Jake...we love our new deck and the materials are top notch!

Having lived in our house for 20+ years, we finally decided it was time to upgrade the rotting builder-grade 10x12 deck with something a bit fancier. We chose Hunter Contracting and we could not be happier! Jake was always very communicative and guided us through all the options we had available. We were very happy with the price too. Throughout the build process it was very evident that Jake takes pride in every aspect of his work and his attention to detail is verging on obsessive, which is an excellent trait! We highly recommend Hunter Contracting!

Needed to replace the original porch on our house which was only 5 feet by 9 feet wide and falling apart. Attached is a picture of the old deck where I was already rerouting the underground sprinkler lines to make room for a new deck. I wanted to replace the old deck with just a 10 foot by 10 foot deck and relocating the steps to the side (with a nice wide stair landing). Although small, I wanted the new deck to be high quality and essentially maintenance free. After checking all the building codes and drawing my design, I contacted a few contractors. Jake Hunter's price was reasonable and more important he took time to really review my design even though it is a small deck. The bottom line is that Jake and his team did an excellent job as shown by the second attached picture. It has now been about a year and the new deck is holding up just fine. I highly recommend Hunter Contracting for anyone wanting a high quality deck.

Steve and his crew were exactly as we expected and better. Down to earth, yet very serious about deadlines and quality of work. Nothing was missed, and they found things that the architects missed, so we were always in line.
