We just finished a patio and pergola project with Greg and are very pleased with the results and process. Greg was quick to respond to our initial contact, gave us many choices for the design and pointed out a number of things that we had not even considered. This included attachment points to the house, the direction of the sun, and the use of a wetter concrete mixture due to the heat wave that was happening at the time.
Greg and his crew kept us up to date on the project, responded quickly to questions and arrived when they said they would. The final result is working excellent for us and the whole process was very non-stressful. We highly recommend Greg and company.

Greg and his guys are Awesome! All really nice, easy to talk to kind of dudes. He is exactly what all general contractors should be like. He came out to our home and discussed some ideas with me. He then sketched out his concrete patio design right on the spot and I loved it. I was in search for a contractor that could customize a beautiful outdoor living area for my family. I had Greg come out to give me a bid. I needed a backyard that would be low maintenance, yet added value to our home. He not only gave me a luxurious entertaining area, but he got the job done quickly and professionally from beginning to end. I had Greg add a patio cover, outdoor kitchen, fireplace, cabana, and french doors. He was very thorough and meticulous. My family and I are so pleased with his work. There is no doubt that we will have him do more work for us next summer for some room additions and interior remodeling.

Greg and his contractors did an excellent job with my new outdoor patio. It was a big job but they were able to get the job done in a day and the work looks great. Greg also stands behind his work. He came over to my house to fix something my son broke on the new patio when he didn't have to. Greg/Sunset Construction worked very well with me/my wife on designing our Pergola. We were remodeling our backyard with new fire pit, retaining walls, and had a pad poured for the Pergola. Greg worked with our remodel contractor and made sure he was there during the pour to make sure his posts were correctly placed in the concrete. We had Eldorado stone added around the base of each pole, which made it look even better, and his work complimented it. He worked together with me to get an electric outlet and fan/lights installed with the pergola. He made good suggestions on colors and style and we are very pleased with the results.

We are very happy with how our new backyard entertainment area turned out. Greg designed and installed a beautiful water feature with a fire bowl and built-in seating, a covered patio with a ceiling fan and lights, a pad (with rebar) for our new spa, and connecting walkways. We started out with some rough ideas about what we wanted to do in our small backyard, but Greg’s suggestions and design drawings really helped us to decide on an attractive design with an end result that has really exceeded our expectations. His detailed estimates allowed us to select a design that fit within our budget. Greg and his crews moved backyard drains, ran gas and electrical lines, and poured concrete that they cut with diagonal lines and then brushed in alternating directions with precise attention to detail, giving us very attractive pads and walkways that look much better than plain concrete. The stonework that they did on the water/fire feature was also done with the same attention to detail, and it looks great! They finished up with a patio cover with a fan and lights (and a gutter) that not only looks great but is solid and well-built.

I originally hired a landscaper (who claimed he knew what he was doing) to lay a flagstone pathway and pad. Two weeks later the stone was coming up and rusting badly. That's when we called Greg at Sunset patio and awning, a general contractor. Greg advised me on the correct way of doing the job and began work promptly. We added a stone seat wall and fire pit to the project. He also advised us to put in landscape lighting that makes the whole area just awesome! Sunset plumbed gas from my house to the site, all within code. The end result far exceed our expectations. It turned out beautiful and we enjoy many evenings around our new space. Greg was a pleasure to work with and the job was done in a very timely manner. We look forward to more projects with Greg and Sunset Patio.

Greg from Sunset Construction is the best. Him and his team poured all our concrete (patio, walkway around the house, extended driveway, and porch stairs), along with a patio cover including a skylight, two fans and lights, as well as a gas fireplace. They were always professional and communicated the process from start to finish. Whenever I had questions Greg responded right away. When the city came to inspect the job for the permit they loved the work and want to use Sunset Construction for themselves. It is great quality work that will last the life of my home and provides me a place to entertain, relax and best part its low maintenance. If I had anymore projects I would definitely give them my business again and will be recommending them to anyone looking for this type of work.

Greg responded to me the first day I reached out to him and was able to map out what I wanted while we were on the phone. Later that day he had a plan drawn out with exactly what we talked about, and to scale. He was also able to move me up on his schedule, even with my adding some rock removal to the list of things to be done. He was flexible with us, and his guys did beautiful work. That on top of being priced well, there’s no reason to go anywhere else for your concrete needs.

I needed my pergola removed so I could replace it with a solid awning to cover my patio, after talking to five different contractors I realized immediately that Greg was by far the most knowledgeable and expert on these kinds of remodels. His attention to detail and ability to catch the "that should have been done right the first time" details was spot on and his advice helped me decide what I wanted. I am completely happy with my new patio awning with fans, electrical, and a few extras that they threw in for me. When Greg first sat down with us and heard what we wanted done, he listened intently. However, when he saw the property we were planning on this for, his design layout was different from what we thought and boy was he right! He pointed out so many things that we hadn't taken into consideration. We couldn't be more pleased. The compliments from family and friends are sincere. When we built our home in 2010, we did not consider creating an outdoor living space. Fast forward to 2014, it was time for a back yard remodel.

The first and most important step was finding the right person to lead the project. After thoroughly researching local contractors, we were impressed with Sunset Construction and Design's portfolio. We had a general idea of what we wanted, but we were working with limited space. Greg came to our home, listened to our ideas, and put together three design presentations. We settled on two pergolas (one attached and one freestanding) in addition to a fireplace and barbecue island.

Once we approved the final design, Greg handled the permits and he and his crew went to work. During the entire project Greg was on-site daily and always available, ensuring the design was executed as planned. What began as a vision became reality before our eyes. The finishing touches included a flagstone overlay, synthetic lawn treatment, mounted television and landscape lighting. Since the completion of our remodel, the space has become our outdoor paradise, perfect for family gatherings, entertaining guests and getting a daily dose of vitamin D.

Greg was very professional throughout the entire install of our pergola and built in bbq island. He came back multiple times to work with us when we couldn't quite figure out what we wanted. He talked us through the entire project and always kept in contact. What I liked most about working with Greg, was his punctuality and communication, if he said he or his guys were going to be there, they were there. I highly reccomend Greg if you're looking to make your backyard better!

Greg respected my time and my money, and was transparent and honest throughout the entire process. As a first time homeowner, I was unsure about many things. Instead of trying to take advantage of me, he treated me as a friend and gave honest advice on what would be best for my home. Professional and Detailed.

Having Sunset Construction (Greg and Crew) build our outdoor kitchen, fire pit, and covered patio was a great decision. The entire process was painless and we could not be more thrilled with the final product. Of all the contractors, Greg was the only one that provided a detailed, itemized bid that was easy to understand, which led to no "surprise charges/change orders." The bid also included plans that were easy to understand/visualize, and Greg spent considerable time taking in my input and answering questions - again, leading to no surprises. Greg even spent time with me to draw the plans out on my concrete using chalk so I knew exactly where things were going to be situated once built. Whether it was a phone call, email, and/or text, Greg made himself available as soon as possible, and this was even before we signed a contract.

The bbq island turned out better than we could have hoped. The workmanship of Greg's crew is obvious - please see picture. I can tell the Crew takes pride in their work, and the attention to detail was obvious. Whenever something unexpected came up, Greg and/or his Crew immediately reached out to me for my input so that the issue could be addressed amicably. Again, take a look at the picture and the masonry work on the bbq island is darn near perfect.

The covered patio they built was put up in a day, and this is a 15' x 32' structure. But the efficiency at which they built the covered patio matched the quality of their work. The photo only shows a small portion of the covered patio but it looks immaculate. The two tone look combined with the canned lights and fan really brings the whole project together.

The fire pit is not shown in the picture but is another work of art Sunset Construction built for us. It is a 3'x5' fire pit with the masonry to match the bbq island. It looks fantastic and has already been used a few times now during this chilly nights.
