I've been a customer of Thompson Landscape Improvement for at least 25 years. Dave & Co. are responsive, reliable, and cost-competitive. I've had them do it all: lawn mowing, landscaping, walks and patios, irrigation, and snowplowing. They've never let me down. I heartily recommend them.

Thompson Landscaping is a family owned & operated local business. We used their services winter & summer for years. Their teams are professional, reliable, friendly and complete work on time. We've also had Thompson Landscaping install fencing around our pool, as well as install our sprinkler system. Work done on time and within budget.

Thompson Landscape totally SAVED ME when I was working to meet a deadline for listing my house for sale. It was late winter and I had several needs that could only take place on a warm day, so they strategically worked around the weather, even when it meant working on a weekend. They did an impeccable masonry job fixing the crumbling on my garage floor and garage walls, and power-washing the house (looks like new!). And then, when the snow unexpectedly melted the day before the listing, Thompson Landscape rushed over to do a spring yard-clean up. Their workers are always professional, and the man who did the masonry work was particularly polite, above and beyond. Thompson is the only landscape company that I would ever use because I know they will do an excellent job for a fair price. I trust them.

Thompson Landscape Improvement provided exceptional service to my home in South Glastonbury for many years, ranging from general landscaping, lawn care, sprinkler maintenance, tree removal, fencing, exterior lighting, stonework, power washing, and more. I could always count on their staff and crew to work with professionalism, care, dependability, and integrity. I especially appreciated their ability to bring creative and practical solutions to unique challenges that fit my budget. With Thompson Landscape Improvement, I was always treated as a valued customer.

Thompson had come out to dig a leach field for a water softener a couple years ago and mentioned at the time they do fences. When we had a tree come down on our fence in a windstorm they were our first call. Insurance balked at their original quote and Dave personally came out to double check the measurements and contacted them to get them to cover the full extent of the damage. The entire team was courteous and professional. They went out of their way to maintain the landscaping when it would have probably been easier to cut things back. They were quick despite some less than accommodating terrain and the fence looks better than it did before. They even went around and tightened some brackets and straightened out some kinks in the fence line while they were here. I’d recommend them to anyone and will go with them again myself the next time I need something done.

Thompson Landscape did an amazing job installing my fence. I am very happy with the work they did. David & Gary are great people to deal with and made sure the job was done correctly. I would refer this company at any time and would definitely use them again in the future.

Thompson Landscaping has done a number of projects around our house, most recently the area around our newly installed pool. They did the patio, landscaping and fencing around the pool area. The quality of work was fantastic, and Dave, Tim and Matt were very easy to work with. I would highly recommend them based on the many positive experiences we have had with Thompson over the years.

Thompson Landscape installed a new lawn for us and we were thrilled with the work they did. Even the first year our new lawn looked awesome!! Their workers are professional, reliable, friendly and completed the job on time. I would highly recommend them for any of your landscaping needs.

Katie and Dave did a wonderful job removing an old wooden deck and replacing it with new stone patio along with building an outdoor bar, fire pit and expanding our fenced in pool patio. They were very professional and responsive the entire time, along with going out of their way to make sure every small detail was done well! They even helped bring in third party contractors for work that was out of scope of our project to make sure the final results were perfect. Would definitely recommend them in the future!

So this review is about 4 years after the installation of my fence. I'm hoping it's better late than never. Thompson Landscaping did my fencing - both the privacy and chain link fence. The job was headed by Gary Nimirowski at the time, and he and his team did a wonderful job. They were very professional and did high quality work in a timely manner. Although my property is fairly flat, you learn nothing is ever flat. The fence were installed very straight and even. I've received many positive comments on it. I even received high praise from a former fence worker. It's been 4 years and the fence still looks great. In addition, one year we had high winds and it brought a tree down onto the chain link fence. Thompson Landscaping was very responsive and sent someone to fix it within a week. They are high recommended!

My backyard project actually began in the summer of 2019. I had a lot of overgrown brush, bittersweet and other assorted ugly weeds that needed to get cleared out. I called Sam and he came by to take a look. He's knowledgeable and friendly; said the job could be done and would be scheduled out a couple of weeks. The guys on my property that day did a great job and also did a demo of an old shed and took that with them too! The price was very reasonable for the work done. Fast forward to the present - July 2020 - the cleared spaces now needed plantings. I again called Sam and he stopped by to discuss landscape ideas. I sent a list of plantings to the office staff (Sheri and Nancy) and they took care of the ordering - thanks ladies. The actual job took place a couple weeks ago and the plantings look terrific!! Matt and guys were professional, hard working, efficient and friendly. This is your go to landscape company. Great work at fair prices - how can you go wrong?

When i bought this home 7 years ago, i thought it was Landscaped nicely and i could just maintain it. Well.. fast forward 7 years and i just don't have the strength, or time, and it looked terrible and overgrown...UNTIL yesterday. I had called Sam for changing around my lawn sprinkler heads? and mentioned my yard had gotten away from me. He gently agreed, but said they could help! VOILÀ! His delightful crew came right out and trimmed, weeded, mulched, etc better than I could have ever done. They were courteous, friendly, and very professional. It looks beautiful! I'm sitting on the patio with my morning coffee enjoying my beautifully Landscape yard. Thanks guys!

For years, our back yard has been overgrown weeds up to 5' tall and lots of trees. Not really that usable or functional, because our attempts at growing a meadow 20 years ago more or less failed and our dogs managed, so we just lived with it. Then, a couple of years ago the gypsy moths killed all our trees back there - so now we had a real mess. After we had all the dead trees removed (at least 30 trees), we decided we needed to do something - so we contacted Thompson Landscaping last fall, and Thompson "reclaimed" our back yard jungle with brush and weed removal, stump removal/grinding, grading and seeding/haying (I have attached a few recent pictures from this summer). I was skeptical that fall seeding was the way to go, but we took their advice and they seeded late last fall - and this spring we put down organic fertilizer as they recommended. The yard still has a few bare patches and random weeds, and it will take some time to look its best - but we are thrilled! this spring we watched the grass take of, far better than we could have expected. Our goal is a strong functional grass for our dogs that looks nice, and that we now have. Our backyard now is functional and looks really nice, and we will work now on fine tuning this fall (we will not use chemicals so more challenging, but totally doable). The dogs love the unencumbered space in which to run. This company is professional and they most definitely know what they are doing. I am so happy we hired them, trusted their advice and we strongly recommend them.

We moved into our home back in 2020 and have been on quite the adventure with our overgrown yard, which had way too many plants crammed in. We tried a few landscaping companies in town, but they just didn’t quite hit the mark. Then we met Sam! His crew has truly transformed our yard, and my wife and I couldn't be happier with how it’s turned out. They cleared out a bunch of overgrown plants and shrubs, pruned everything beautifully, and even created a lovely stone hardscape around my favorite tree out front. We recently called them back to tackle some pesky moss on our walkways and remove some plastic edging that had become a tripping hazard. Their expertise, professionalism, and fair pricing are just unbeatable! We highly recommend them!

We had a great experience working with Thompson Landscape to address our drainage issues in our yard. We had years of water pooling after rainstorms, muddy areas and standing water for days! Thompson Landscape was competitive and detailed with their estimate, and took the time to answer our questions and concerns regarding the work.
The professionalism of the crew was top notch! We were worried about the yard being a mess with all the digging, they did a great job with front and backyard cleanup. There was a particularly tricky area that was pitched incorrectly, it would pond during most rain events. Tyler took the time to get this area graded correctly to drain away from the center of the yard.
On time, professional, awesome job! We have never seen our yard look so good! This whole experience has been positive and we would recommend Thompson Landscape again and again!!

Thompson Landscaping has been wonderful to work with over the years. From big projects to small ones, I have been given the same attention and respect. At Thompson Landscaping, I started planning a small project that turned out to be a big project that took place in the summer of 2025. They were respectful of my budget and accomplished my goals within the timeframe originally set out. I could not have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, the staff was professional, attentive and meticulous. They went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied with the end result. I am a perfectionist myself and it was always appreciated how the staff took care of the small details. Also, I have to acknowledge the experienced staff that always came to work with a smile regardless of the weather conditions. In the end, I give them my highest recommendation because my experience was top notch. My backyard patio came out amazing, and the experience was seamless with Thompson Landscaping.

The Thompson team did extensive hardscaping and plant removal work on our property last spring and we couldn’t have been happier. Every person we met on their team was extremely nice and happy to answer any questions we had about the work they were doing. Dave talked through every detail of the project with us and helped us make informed decisions about the design and materials we used. Bryan was at our house frequently to work on hardscaping and we always looked forward to having a quick chat with him when he was there. We are very happy with the final product and loved using the new back patio this past summer.

When a bluestone paver on our walkway started to settle this past fall because of mole activity the Thompson team quickly came out and fixed the issue without charge. We really appreciate their responsiveness to this and their excellent work with the project overall.

Such a great experience with Thompson Landscaping. We’ve had them out a few times to build out our yard and they’ve worked with us to incrementally expand on what we envisioned - both year over year and how we think long-term. The pictures don’t do it justice. ;)

We moved from Texas, so we were unaccustomed to living in a state with four seasons. We also moved to a home with a large property that had not been tended for many years. Our new neighbors told us that the old owners mowed their lawn twice a year, whether it needed it or not. That is not a joke. The side yard of the property was used as basically a trash heap. We found toilets and cones and drums and broken down bits of who knows what. I mean a lot of of it. The trees were overgrown and they were going to eventually do damage once they got too heavy from the snow or wind.

A friend of ours, here in Glastonbury, recommended Thompson Landscaping. I cannot say enough about how much they have done for us. They have welcomed us like family members and have taught us how to live in at least summer, fall and winter seasons with property like we have.

They have come over regularly to see how we’re doing, make suggestions about things we may not have considered, to pick up trash, to cut down trees, to take out old plants/overgrowth/vines, haul away all that trash, to cut down dying plants/shrubs/bushes, to cut back neglected plants so that they regrow, to overseed the yard, which grew beautifully, to shovel snow, to take away all of the leaves during the fall, to lay down large amounts of mulch, to provide us with firewood, to check our outdoor plumbing (drains), to mow the lawn…but the most important was the day that our wellhead broke.

The power went out for two hours, and when it came back on, we had no water. It began to snow and we tried to fix it ourselves. I called Thompson Landscaping and they came out immediately with a small tractor. Matt dug for hours and hours in the snow with a good attitude and a smile. Thompson Landscaping called all their friends and business associates and people who weren’t even working anymore to come and help us figure out how to reach our well head, repair it and then bring it above ground. *Nod to Glastonbury Water Systems and Staven’s Drilling (thank you!)* They treated us like family. They have always treated us like family, and because of that we will stay with them.

Their prices are fair. Their staff is nice and knowledgeable. They are always available to us, and I simply cannot say enough about them. If you’re looking to work with real people who care about you and your home then work with Thompson Landscape. We plan on doing lots and lots more work with Thompson as the years go by. We have big plans from the driveway, to the front patio and walkway, to build a deck in the back, to redo the backyard and planting trees/pulling out trees and who knows what else.
