his is the second time that we have worked with Ovi and his team.

For their first work with us (about 6 years ago), Ovi and 4GC basically touched every wall in our condo - helped us blow out our closet, add a master bathroom, move walls around in our kitchen, utililty closet and second bedroom - and then also carved out a door through our greystone and added an ipe wood patio. They did fantastic work that made our condo into a home and helped us massively at resale.

For their most recent work, we actively sought them out given our great first experience to add an awning to the patio at the back of our house. They did great work (again) helping recreate the sightlines and pitches of our roof with the awning, installing electric heaters, lights and a fan as well as our outdoor TV - to make our patio an extension of our home.

We have recommend Ovi to our friends and colleagues and would do the same here - they do great work at a reasonable price on great timing.

I love Ovi and his team. It was late October 2020, and the old deck on my SFH was becoming a leaning house of cards. It needed to be completely demolished and rebuilt before the first winter snow or I feared it would topple into my neighbor’s yard.

4GC was the third quote I got. His quote was monetarily consistent with the others I’d gotten, however, Ovi was the clear winner because he not only said they could get the job done before it got cold (even though they were very busy – everyone seemed to be) but he was the ONLY person I consulted who came up with a simple-yet-brilliant solution to a problematic flaw in the design of the original deck. Not ONE other builder/designer had seen a way around a certain obstacle (too detailed to explain here) but Ovi thought for a few minutes and said, “What if we do *this*…?” Genius. Got me a more efficient deck with the same footprint. On top of that, he’s just a nice, honest person with all kinds of helpful suggestions.

He and his team did the demo on a Saturday in November, began construction that Monday, and by Wednesday afternoon – yes, only three days of building—I had a brand new, beautiful, SOLID deck! We decided to go with a combination of wood and TimberTech, because I couldn’t afford a whole deck of composite.

The team was great – prompt, courteous, hard-working, and thoroughly cleaned up each day. Ovi even allowed me to make a modification mid-construction, which forced them to re-do some work, and he didn’t charge me extra for it. He’s a real pro, plus he’s very knowledgeable about the very strict Chicago deck codes.

The deck is perfect. My next door neighbors were so impressed with both the quality and the speed, they asked for his info. Next, I need him for my front porch…

I reached out to Ovi about a full rooftop deck renovation project. Completely removing an existing wood deck with composite. He quickly responded to me and we set up a time to meet. He reviewed everything with me from his recommendation for the composite decking, to helping me select color options. I even shared a competitive estimate with him that I received and he walked me through why he wouldn't work with that company. His honesty, integrity and extensive professional experience told me he was the guy I wanted to work with. From the time he ordered all the materials to the day he started demolition was very quick. And he kept in constant communication with me every step of the way. I was blown away by how quickly he and his team worked from demolition to completion of the deck! Not only were they quick, but the craftsmanship is impeccable. He has an eye for meticulous detail and is very involved throughout the project. He is so dedicated that the day the crane was to arrive to load all the materials to my roofdeck, he waited outside my building to hold open parking spaces for hours until the crane arrived. That was impressive.

I can't begin to tell you what a pleasure it was to work with Ovi. A true master of the trade. I loved the work so much, I hired him again to build a pergola on one side of the roofdeck. I am so happy with my deck and look forward to working with Ovi and 4th Generation Construction again!

We received multiple quotes to replace 2 balconies for our condo and are so happy we went with 4GC. Ovi was very knowledgeable and responsive to all our questions, and the quote for composite decking was very competitive. The crew was professional and ensured that the job was left clean. Our new balconies are beautiful and we look forward to enjoying them for years to come. Highly recommend 4GC!

4GC built my deck a few years ago and still looks like the day they built it. Ovi was knowledgeable, thorough, and detailed oriented. Had a wonderful experience and would do business with them again in the future!

Ovi and his team are fantastic! We had them do a deck reconstruction last summer and were (and remain) very happy with the results. The deck re-build morphed a bit into a garage rebuild, and throughout Ovi was always upfront, patient, honest, and wanted to do the job the right way. He took the time to explain the issues, the options, and offer suggestions.
We had the team back this summer to redo a balcony (before/after shown in the pics) because we loved their work. As expected, it went smoothly and the results mesh with last summer's work.

Had an absolutely wonderful experience with Ovi and 4th Generation Construction. During the planning process, he listened to what we wanted (a more modern redesign of our deck space) and provided us with plans that matched what we were looking for. We did a complete redesign that included new composite decking, a pergola build, and a wood stain after the lumber had a chance to settle. Our deck went from honestly a safety hazard to a stunning spot we love! It's my new happy place! Throughout the entire process, Ovi was patient while we deliberated and responsive when we were ready to execute, and the crews were wonderful - talented, fast, and respectful. Couldn't recommend more.

We're very happy we went with 4GC to replace our deck. From the initial consultation, to responding to follow-up questions on the quote, to the execution of the deck build itself, Ovi and his team were responsive, diligent and efficient. The 4GC team got to work early every morning and ended up completing the project in less than 4 days. More importantly, they didn’t cut any corners and our new deck feels extremely sturdy and safe. We went with Timbertech Advanced PVC for the deck flooring and are very pleased with the quality of the materials as well as the aesthetic. Ovi was also able to help troubleshoot a couple of items in real time, including bringing in an electrician to add an exterior outlet for the stair lights and replace an outdoor sconce. After seeing the deck results, we also hired 4GC to replace the cedar fences on both sides of our backyard (work they agreed to do as a courtesy to an existing client). We would highly recommend 4GC to anyone looking to upgrade their deck or porch — they are the utmost professionals.

Ovi and his team were ON POINT. Responsive , quality , price, they are hands down the best deck company in Chicago. Ovi handled the project perfectly from design, to permitting to completion. Everything went as well as you could imagine. I highly recommend 4th gen construction!

Ovi and his team were amazing! Very personable on the evaluation and informative on the options. We have a walk out balcony that was in need of replacing being it was coming up on 20 years old. The team not only replaced the foundation of the deck but made a custom fabricated base that is so solid when you walk on it now! Most impressive was the time it took… 6 hours! They were in and out faster than I could believe cleaning along the way. There was a storm coming in that I was worried about and they simply said “we got this”Highly recommended!

Ovi and his team did a fantastic job replacing and extending our household deck using TimberTech Vintage Advanced PVC materials. Their communication, quality of work, and efficiency were top-tier. They completed the project in just four days, which was incredible. They also added lighting to the stairs and railings and built two storage units under the deck. In my opinion, the price was very competitive. I would highly recommend 4GC!

We had 4GC rebuild our old and rotting deck and stairs. They did a masterful job. Ovi was super responsive during the design phase and throughout the life of the project. And the crew did an incredible job building the deck and stairs. The workmanship was top notch. They were incredible detailed in ensuring everything was level and properly installed. I cannot recommend 4GC enough.

Prestige Construction claimed they could handle my roof replacement efficiently, but the project dragged on, and the crew was unprofessional. Not reliable at all.

I hired them for siding installation, and the alignment was uneven. They left debris everywhere and refused to clean up properly. Horrible experience.

Deck repair turned into a disaster. They didn’t follow proper safety procedures, and the final result looks cheap and unstable. Won’t trust them again.
