I've been interested in solar for years, but could never find a compnay I could trust. The industry was confusing, and I felt like I was going to get scammed. My experience with solartech, was much different than my expectation. They worked quickly, didn't have a long drawn out sales process, and did a very professional job. Their communication was also top of the line.

This is not some fancy company trying to sell you something you don't need. They have a small business type feel, in a good way and cut out all the fluff. Very satisfied with my system and the work put into it.

When our prior installer wouldn’t fix a faulty panel Solar Tech Electric rode in to the rescue and spent a significant amount of time diagnosing and fixing the problem. I had purchased a monitoring plan with Solar Tech to take over monitoring. While speaking with the owner Ross he offered me a great deal on adding more panels. I was concerned that since I was headed north in a few weeks I wouldn’t be there to oversee the install. He said we will be finished before you leave and unlike my past installer actually showed up and installed my new panels. I now should have only $50 a month or so electric bill down from over $300 without panels. After the tax incentive I should be seeing a 10% ROI year over year that only gets better as electric rates rise. I highly recommend Solar Tech Electric.

Extremely pleased with our solar panel / whole home backup system designed & delivered by Solar Tech Elec. A good amount of research upfront allowed us to know what we wanted in general and to ask the right questions about our system during the process of interviewing several companies. Sorting through all the “5-star, best service, most experienced staff, broadest warranty” companies and promises was the hardest part. We ended up choosing Ross Dyson & company because he was the only person to quote the specific types of equipment we were interested in, his pricing was very competitive, and is as easy to communicate with as he is courteous. We signed with Solar Tech Elec while they were extremely busy due to the ending of the solar tax credit this year, however Ross kept his team on schedule and delivered on time as promised. Echoing many of the other customers giving strong reviews, Ross places a personal premium on customer satisfaction and his installation team is very dedicated and professional – they installed a 25 panel, 10.5 KW system with 2 batteries in one (very long) day. Solar Tech Elec handles all the administrative duties (e.g. notice of commencement, permit application, etc.) as well as any interactions with the county (inspection) and power company (permission to operate, metering). For the most part, what I consider as a home owner to be a very non-trivial installation, the work proceeded smoothly and exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend Ross & Solar Tech Elec.

After a truly awful experience with Sunrun (who took over my original solar provider, Vivint), I was hesitant to trust any solar company again. But my roof replacement forced my hand, and I needed to get my panels reinstalled. Enter Solar Tech Elec - they were an absolute lifesaver! Back in 2021, they handled the de-installation of my 39 panels with incredible efficiency and professionalism, all at a very reasonable cost. Then, life got in the way, and I had to delay the reinstallation for almost two years. I was so worried they wouldn't honor our original agreement after all that time. To my relief, Ross (the CEO) was incredibly understanding and accommodating. His team was back on my roof less than a week after the holidays, and they were fantastic! They were communicative throughout the entire process, arrived promptly, worked incredibly fast (the whole installation took under 4 hours!), and the quality of their work was impeccable. They even optimized the placement of my panels for better sun absorption! Ross has since offered me some great incentives to transfer my service to Solar Tech Elec, which I'm thrilled to do. When I first thought about solar I contacted three companies. I sat down through each company's selling pitch however solar tech was done online. The entire process seemed very daunting you could lease you could buy or you could finance for 25 years with the prices ranging greatly. Solar Tech was by far the better price for the same or comparable product .
Ross with solar tech after I sent an email and told him what I was looking for made the process extremely easy and explained the whole situation precisely and to the point.
Once Solar Tech started the project Ross and his team was there the every step of the way, if I had any questions I could easily just text or call and they would answer my question quite thoroughly and politely.
The process after you've agreed to the number of solar panels that you need and want to go up on your roof was flawless with Solar Tech.
Solar Tech begin the process of getting the permits and everything they needed to Install the system. The solar panel system goes up really quickly and the guys that came out to install it were very professional and made it look super simple. The installers downloaded the app on my phone and explained the monitoring of the system on the app The next step was to have Hillsborough county approve the project. The last step is to have TECO flip the switch and then no more electric bills. ,(minus the $12.90 for TECO).

There was no out-of-pocket cost for our system and the loan process was very simple and if I had any questions regarding the loan process Ross and team was (is) always there for me.

Overall, we were really happy with Solar Tech. Ross and his installers did exactly what they promised and appreciated that he always responded to our inquiries and on time.

Ross’s team was always professional and worked hard to get the job done in this Florida heat. We got 34 panels and 5 battery back ups installed. Was very helpful coordinating all of the HOA approval, permitting, and meter swap out. Not sure about the impact to our electric bill just yet.

We recently had solar panels installed by SolarTech, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. They handled everything from financing to installation and connecting with Duke Energy making the entire process smooth and stress-free. The app they provide is easy to use and helps us track our energy production in real time. The SolarTech team was also very responsive; whenever I had a question, they replied quickly by text or phone. Highly recommend!

After getting proposals from 4 solar companies, I decided on Solar Tech and I am grateful I did. First and foremost Ross was amazing. From the initial proposal there was no push to sign today or else like some of the competitors. He gave my wife and I enough time to review, discuss and compare the proposals to make sure this decision was right for us. After signing, Ross was very communitive throughout the process and worked to ensure nothing deviated from what we agreed to. He was always quick to respond to any questions we had (even when he was on vacation). This install was quick and flawless. The installers were professional and cleaned up completely when finished.

Having heard so many horror stories about solar, the process, and some of the companies I was leery about converting. However, after this experience, had I know about this company in the past we would have went solar years ago! I cannot recommend them enough.

Ross and the SolarTechElec team did a great job. They installed my 11.6kW system in less than a day and it is producing as expected. They were the low cost bidder and had an excellent online reputation which sealed the deal for us.

The TLDR: Fair pricing for the solar panels themselves, the Franklin 13.6 kW whole-home battery, and installation. Crew who installed, connected, and ensured everything was working well before they left were second-to-none!

Now for the details and a little background: This wasn’t our first rodeo: We’ve had solar panels on several homes throughout the years, so we understand the process. When we sold our previous home, the new owners wanted the solar panels but not the 13.6 kW Franklin whole-home battery. So we had it uninstalled and brought it with us to Florida.

My husband requested quotes from a few solar companies in the Pensacola area. He wanted pricing for enough solar panels to cover an average day’s usage for a home of our size, and an additional 13.6 kW battery.

Ross Dyson with SolarTechElec submitted a proposal which included an array of 29 Solaria Corporation PowerX-400R panels, with each panel including Enphase Energy Inc. inverters. The plan initially suggested a Franklin Generation 2 battery, but afterRoss did more research we had a couple of options: Go with an additional Franklin Gen. 1 or install the Gen. 2 plus added cost for the energy management control panel so it would tie in with our Gen. 1 (the Gen. 2 is not yet backwards compatible). We chose the Gen. 1.

SolarTechElec submitted the application to our HOA for the installation, they procured necessary permits, and provided us with professional engineering specs for the project.

Great! The administration side of the project finally moved to the installation phase. We were so eager to get everything installed. I fret over installations because we have to have faith that things will be done correctly and with the same care we would use when doing our own projects.

When the three-man crew arrived, we were immediately put at ease. The foreman communicated with us to give us an overview of the plan. He continued to keep us apprised as things progressed. Almost any large-scale project will have hiccups that can derail a good plan, but the crew handled all aspects with professionalism and ease. Throughout the two-day installation, they were conscientious and kept everything tidy and neat. If you would have seen our yard before they left for the night, you’d barely notice we were having work done. After day two, when they left, it looked perfectly tidy.

I’ll also state that this investment for us is about peace of mind, knowing that in the event of electrical outages–whether due to severe weather events or simply a downed power line–we will still have electricity. We’ve had electricity during and after a hurricane in Puerto Rico, when those without solar or generators of some type were out of electricity for two weeks.

Others may view the cost of buying and installing a bad investment because the offset to an eclectric bill would leave you feeling like achieving a positive in strictly dollars and cents is about 25 years down the road. To us the ROI shows up as soon as those suckers start harnessing the power of the sun and charge up our batteries.

I am very happy with my tier 2 system and the entire purchasing process. Ross explained the process well and gave me his best price upfront. With two other companies I had to negotiate and they still weren’t as competitive. Now one month into ownership, the energy generation prediction is within 1% of actual. The process from initial signature to installation was only four weeks and Solar Tech Elec was the only company who could guarantee a timeline which was important to me. I’d happily recommend Solar Tech Elec to friends and family.

I chose Solar Tech Elec mainly because they were the only installer who confidently guaranteed they could complete my solar panel and Tesla Powerwall installation before the end of the year, allowing me to capture the expiring tax credit. They delivered on that promise by getting the system installed in time, which stands out as the biggest positive from my experience and the primary reason I might consider them again in a similar time-sensitive situation. That said, the overall process had several significant issues that left me dissatisfied.

They did not honor several upfront promises. They sold me on their service by assuring me they could install the Powerwall inside my garage, something other installers refused to do, and the approved engineering drawings showed an indoor location. Instead, they mounted it outside without clear justification or updated documentation. When I raised the issue, the installer's response was dismissive, suggesting engineers do not understand "realistic" installs because they sit at desks all day. As an engineer myself, I found this unprofessional. Additionally, the signed contract specified 405W panels, but both the engineering drawings and the installed panels were 400W. This violated the contract's terms, which allowed equipment changes due to supply chain issues only if the output remained the same or greater with equivalent warranty coverage. While the difference is minor, it was still a downgrade from what was promised.

Scheduling and communication were consistently poor. They repeatedly shifted approval and installation dates without firm commitments, forcing me to follow up constantly to keep the project moving.

During installation, several problems arose. They ignored the permit requirement for a 50% partial install plus inspection before full completion, even after I flagged it multiple times. This resulted in two failed inspections. The installer and owner insisted that photos would suffice and tried to argue with the county, but it did not work and delayed permission to operate by about a month. Separately, near the main disconnect, there was originally a comms box with Ethernet cables passing through the concrete wall (sealed). They needed to enlarge the hole slightly to relocate the passthrough, which I approved, but they never sealed or filled the larger opening as promised, leaving me to handle it myself to prevent water intrusion.

Cleanup and site care fell short as well. They left trash in my yard, including scrap metal, rail ends, nuts and bolts, and numerous cigarette butts. Their ladder work also damaged my gutters by scraping off paint, an issue that could easily have been avoided with basic protective measures.

After installation, it took over a month to obtain final county clearance. They did not handle or follow up on the net metering setup, so I filed the forms myself. I did receive the referral bonus for a friend I recommended, but only after multiple reminders. Throughout the project and afterward, the owner seemed more focused on securing a good review than on delivering strong service, asking for a review repeatedly.

On the positive side, they met the critical year-end deadline, the system is working well now, and my friend's experience with them was noticeably smoother, so your results may vary. Overall, if you are in a rush and no other installer can commit to your timeline, Solar Tech Elec might be worth considering. However, be prepared to stay heavily involved, push through deviations from promises (including equipment specifications), navigate inspection delays, handle unfinished minor tasks, and accept less-than-stellar attention to detail and customer service.
I rate them 3 out of 5 stars: They delivered the absolute must-have, but the execution and professionalism fell well short of expectations.
