Jon and his crew recently did a complete landscape design and installation on our front and backyard and I couldn’t be happier with the results. He transformed our unusable overgrown space into a beautiful tropical butterfly garden. I would highly recommend!

I hired Jon and his team to re-sod my yard and add some basic landscaping to help build curb appeal for my home. He provided a detailed bid, helped me build a plan within my budget, and was even able to move some projects around to help me meet my condensed timeline. He and his team did a terrific job, and I'm very pleased with the work they did.

Had a project that requires, stump grinding,
grading, and tempering. The work was difficult due to a concrete walkway and other surrounding debris. JON the Gardner, took full initiative to figure out how to successfully complete the job to my satisfaction. Jon, was easy to talk too, and eager to do the job right. Jon is amazing. He really helped me out in a tight timeframe. With some amazing creativity he was able to transform my property on a tight budget. I was happy to use him on a bigger project and he and his crew were amazing to work with throughout many changes of direction as we went. We hired Jon to lay sod and refresh our landscaping and could not have been happier with our experience. He came out promptly and walked through the yard with us to talk about what we wanted done and any recommendations he had. Jon totally flipped my front lawn which was completely dead plus removing all the dead trees that has not been cleaned for years. He was very professional with portfolios and proposals. All the steps and details were explained and there were no surprises. He takes care of our lawn like his own. I was so pleased with his work that now I have him maintain my lawn throughout the year.

Our home in Avondale was renovated, but the front and back yards were in bad shape. The front was devoid of anything other than brown grass, and the back was overgrown. Jon transformed both into colorful wonderlands with trees, shrubs, and a variety of blooming plants and vines. The garden is Florida friendly, attracting many butterflies and hummingbirds. We love it, and many neighbors have commented on its beauty. He also stained our back patio and installed an arch with blooming vines. His vision incorporates plants, lighting, and various surfaces, bringing everything together to enhance the overall effect. We will definitely be using his services again.

We are so happy with the work and service provided by Jon and his team, they have our HIGHEST recommendation for anyone looking for landscape design and installation. Jon provided a customized plan based on our initial ideas, and he was extremely helpful and easy to work with to turn our vision for our landscaping into reality.

Jon was able to install a row of hedges around our yard, 2 rows of hedges in front of our house, an irrigation system, and mulch and plant several flower beds in less than a week after finalizing our design plan. His team is awesome and we love the final product.

We plan on using his team for maintenance going forward as a result of the professionalism they have displayed throughout the installation process.

UPDATE 11/26/23- THERE HAS BEEN NO OUTREACH WHATSOEVER FROM JON THE GARDENER EVEN BASED ON HIS NOTE BELOW. (I believe because the only way to fix his mistakes would be at cost to himself).

I hate leaving negative reviews but this this was one of the worst experiences we’ve had as we’ve invested in our old house. We hired Jon to redo our walkway with cobblestones, which he assured us he could do. His pricing was better than the couple of others we received quotes for as well but then, due to mistakes made in placement of the stones, we were told we had to keep paying more money for more materials or stones.. The end result can be seen in the photos – uneven stones, trip hazards, not consistent coloring of the mortar used and just poor quality work all around. You can literally see where someone used their fingertips and never smoothed it out. With all of the good reviews on Google, I cannot imagine Jon being OK with this quality of work being done but he was aware we were very unhappy with it. We’ve had a few contractors out to give quotes to fix it, and it will be a very expensive project to fix what was done. Really unfortunate and expensive lesson for us to learn to not pay in full before ensuring we are happy with the results.

**the last photo below was from November 22- a month after Jon said they were done. We have plenty of photos from during and right after that show the exact same issues and we expressed throughout and at 'the end' our dissatisfaction. You can see the unevenness and inconsistency. It has not changed at all in the past year (besides the rust color which we can only assume is from using the wrong materials) and if the argument is that it looks different than a year ago, what does that say for longevity of their projects? It took us a while to post because we finally realized how wrong it was to leave it looking like this after having many other contractors come out and make comments in disbelief that we paid for this.

I have lived in Jacksonville for 23 years in the Avondale area and owned large expansive yards as well as rental properties right down to my current cottage style yard on Pine Street. Jon is by far the best, most reliable and honest landscaper I have ever worked with. We have worked on elaborate long term projects including historic landscape and hardscape renovation, 15’ Palm installations, turf rehab and complete front and back landscape design. He has always backed up his work and is transparent about maintenance and upkeep required for plant choices. He has a great referral network for ancillary work when outsourcing is needed and he stands by those referrals as well, overseeing and managing those contractors when we have agreed to utilize his expertise in executing such work. The most important aspect for me is Jon communicates and responds quickly and is transparent regarding delays due to product availability while keeping price in mind. When I have had large budgets planned he delivers the same as when I have tighter budgets and need to work in sections to accomplish a large, long term project. Ultimately I am extremely satisfied with Jon the Gardner Land Scape Design

We are very happy with the services we received from Jon the Gardner. Our side yard and back yard needed an overhaul, and our front yard needed a refresh. His thoughtful designs incorporated the existing plants we wanted to keep, and added variety and color with the new selections. He was professional and kind, and gave us options that fit within our budget. I look forward to using his maintenance crew to keep our yard looking its best.

Bottom line: the quality of work is top-notch, Jon is responsive, communicative, and such a kind person, and he was upfront about every step of the process. It's obvious that he takes a lot of pride in his work and really cares about the plants.

I had a bland front yard with no landscaping and Jon transformed it into a beautiful landscape that I'm proud to come home to. Jon listened to what I wanted (low maintenance!), created a design around the plants and designs I liked from his album, and then adjusted it all to fit my budget. He was very flexible with my schedule and always communicated his plans. Jon is busy - don't expect anything to happen overnight, but like anything else, he is well worth the wait. Going forward, he took the time to explain how to care for the plants and also offers a maintenance package for those of us that aren't blessed with a green thumb.

I couldn't be happier and I absolutely recommend Jon to anyone with landscaping needs. You'll be hard-pressed to find a genuinely nicer person who does better work in Jacksonville. I look forward to hiring Jon in the future for my backyard.
