I have used Down Under Construction for both home and business projects. The crews are always friendly, and knowledgeable. They don't nickel and dime you to death. I highly recommend using this company.

Two years later I am still fighting with this company; they have an open permit they need to close because they left the job unfinished and never bothered to return! Would never recommend them to anyone! Should have - still may - take them to court; though unfortunately, I signed off on work just to get Joey Romano's shoddy workmen out of my house and off my property!
Nearly 2/3 of what was replaced in my home needs to be redone - including the terrible tile job around my tub and shower. Job ran (4) months over schedule and it was nearly impossible to get a hold of Joey, the contractor. The entire rebuild (after a house fire, no less) was an added nightmare! I am a senior citizen and just needed a reliable contractor to help restore from the fire damage in my older home. Two years later...still so much to replace and finish!

I have hired Down Under Construction numerous times over the last few years to do many different types of work in my home from handyman work to patching and repairing drywall, and other construction work. They are a very reliable company that I can trust and I will continue to use them for all my construction needs. I can always count on them for quality work and a fair price. Joe Romano was great to deal with and his workers/ sub-contractors were all tidy and courteous. They raised the outdated dropped ceiling in our kitchen and installed two 9 foot sliding doors. I'm pleased with the end results and quality of workmanship and would use DUCS again on future projects.

DUCS went above and beyond to ensure I was taken care of through out working with their team. Their attention to detail and continous transparency through the process makes them very easy to work with. I will definitely be recommending them to my friends and have them work on my future projects. Thank you for everything you guys do!

I just finished an extensive and complete renovation of a small 1941 house in a flood zone in Indian Rocks Beach. I’m not sure anyone other than Down Under Construction could have managed it. One contractor told me it simply couldn’t be done. Wrong! The house is gorgeous and completely aligns with my vision. I have Joe Romano and crew to thank for that. Did everything go smoothly and on time? Are you kidding -- dream on! Did it cost more than originally planned? Why yes, but add-ons were reasonable and understandable. Were there mishaps and mistakes (several of them mine) along the way? Of course! But I truly cannot imagine working with anyone else through this renovation-birthing process. Joe is affable, helpful, a great problem solver and communicative. We laughed a lot, which helped. The office crew, Spencer and Daniel, kept things organized. (I cannot imagine using a general contractor who doesn’t have full-time administrative assistance!) Joe’s regular workers are top notch (though their choice of music was at times questionable), and 98% of his subcontractors were people I’d hire on my own. I’m proud of what we all accomplished together. Although I never hope to go through a project like this ever again, if I did, I’d run straight back to Joe and DUCs. I'm almost going to miss them being around. Almost....

“DUCS Brought Our Vision to Life”

We embarked on a project to rehab and modernize a waterfront bungalow while maintaining the beach vibe. After an extensive search for builders, we engaged DUCS and the results exceeded expectations. Joe Romano and his team expertly navigated the process of transforming our slice of paradise. Whenever we requested changes (there were many) – the response was always ‘no problem, let’s get it the way you want’. Communication throughout was exceptional and the project wrapped up on budget. Most importantly, we love every detail of our custom home.

Based on the reviews I read, I was surprised at the lack of project management I received for my job. It wasn't until we were half way through the project that the PM ever came out to view the progress of our bathroom, despite me asking Spencer, the office manager (who provided exceptional customer service) where our PM was numerous times. While the quality of the work was good, there were a number of different subcontractors that came out to do the work, and every time a new subcontractor showed up they asked me what they were supposed to do next. This poor communication within DUCS caused delays so the remodel took longer to complete than estimated (10 weeks vs. the 3-4 week estimate initially given by DUCS). Additionally, the day after the project finished I was cleaning the bathroom, and while cleaning the mirror it fell of the wall and nearly broke. I instantly noticed that they didn't use the flat head screws included with the mirrors to hang them, but used round head screws instead so they were not at all securely hanging. They didn't leave the included screws behind, so we had to go purchase flat head screws and rehang both of the mirrors, which was inconvenient. Overall, we are satisfied with the quality of the work, but the lack of project management and numerous subcontractors leading to delays was not to our satisfaction. If you are comfortable having your project done with minimal project management and are not on a tight timeline, but are more focused on the quality of the work then DUCS is a good choice.

Hired company to fix damaged drywall from a water leak in laundry room . They quoted a fair price , showed up on time and completed the scope of job as asked. Very happy with results .

Joe and his team came thru for me again, we had major leak under our master bedroom and his team put it all back to new in record time, great service, employees and price! Thank you Joe!

Joe, did a fantastic job, he remodeled 4 bathrooms, and the entire downstairs 2,500 sqft, removed beams, walls, leveled floors and took our 80s house into 2019s. His crews are professional and got the job done in about 6 weeks. Joe believe it or not picks up his phone which is a rare thing when trying to contact your contractor, looking forward to the next house we purchase and upgrade.

Thanks to the craftsmanship of Johnny and Lawson at DUCS we have a beautiful new kitchen. They removed a wall, built a pantry, installed cabinets and flooring, painting and drywall replacement. installed lighting and appliances. Johnny is a skilled craftsman, the custom woodwork he did is beautiful and just what I asked for. Lawson is a skilled painter, both are hardworking and talented. They were a pleasure to have in our home during construction and left the space immaculate each day. The owner Joey was very responsive from estimate through completion. The office team at DUCS was always pleasant and quick to help when needed. We will definitely use this company for our next project.

This is the 2nd time we used DUCS for our renovation needs. This time, the work involves demolition of floors/some walls, pour new concrete floor, etc.. Joe came out gave a fair estimate and the job started as scheduled. The people work on the job are professional and fast. The quality of the work is very good. We definitely will recommend and use DUCS again for our future renovation needs.

Joe came out to the condo and gave us an proposal to remodel the kitchen and baths and put in new floors. The job was done on time and the guys kept it clean while working. I can't say enough about how good the new kitchen feels. Highly recommend using Down Under Construction!

I was extremely frustrated because I was having a hard time finding a reliable honest contractor to redo my kitchen and remove a structural wall. Someone finally recommended Joe Romano from Down Under Construction. He came out to look at the jobsite. Mr. Romano is very low key and professional. I did hire him for my renovation, and am very happy with the finished product. His workers are also professional and do quality work. There were minimal delays, and the job was completed to my satisfaction. I will be hiring DUC to redo my master bathroom next. That in and of itself speaks volumes. Not only will I use him again, I feel very comfortable recommending him to my friends and neighbors. One thing I really appreciate is that Mr. Romano is very reachable. He actually answers his phone, or calls back in a timely manner, unlike some other contractors I've dealt with.

DUC installed quartz counters, backsplash,sink, and new faucet in our kitchen. Then did a complete demo of the main bath. New shower replaced the tub, drywall was installed and painted, tile floor, complete tiled shower. Then new vanity with vessel sink installed.
Through both jobs ,when problems or issues arose, Joe immediately took care of it. The end results of both rooms are great. We would recommend Down Under Construction for any home project.

We added a second bathroom to our previously one-bathroom house -- in the garage! This involved cutting into concrete for piping, installing sewer pipe about 80' to connect to sewer, building the room, adding A/C, installing shower and other fixtures, moving the house's main electric panel to another wall, tiling, painting, etc -- in short: this was not a simple project! Nonetheless, Joe (owner) made sure every aspect was covered, expediting a ton of permits, kept his crews coordinated to keep the project moving along, and they all did beautiful work! The workmen showed up on time, were professional and unobtrusive, and cleaned up after themselves every day. Kim in the office is a delight to deal with, as is Joe. They quoted us a price in the mid-range of the other contractors, and we know they did a better job than the lowest bidder, and as good if not better than what we would have expected from the highest. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone for any remodeling project, and if we do any more remodeling -- DUCS is the one for us!

Joe Romano and Spencer White went above and beyond our expectations.The final craftsmanship is stunning. They are easy to reach and quick to respond. DUCS provides great customer service and is always happy to help. My husband and I often say, “I love our new kitchen and flooring.” It can be stressful when remodeling. We are so glad to have chosen Down Under Construction to take on our project to knock out an exterior wall and install a four panel sliding door. They made the process very easy, obtaining the permits and they were very flexible on a start date due to a delay in the sliding door. His crew for our project was led by Riccardo, and he was very knowledgeable and was able to easily overcome some challenges. Riccardo and Joe could be easily reached when we had questions and they always had an answer. We are very happy with the end result and enjoy our house even more.

We just finished remodeling our entire home with Down Under. We spoke to two other contractors before deciding on them because we felt secure that Joe had the most experience and knowledge. We’re so glad we did. Although we expected challenges along the way, and there were, the whole team at DUCS was there to do whatever was needed to overcome any hurdles. DUC totally remodeled 2 bathrooms. The finishes were brought down to the studs and walls moved. They did a great job. Very good quality of work at a reasonable price. Joe and his crew are very professional and easy to work with. We recommend them.
