Unprofessional, Cheap, and No Regard for Child Safety — Would Not Recommend

I recently hired this company to drain and clean my pool at a home that I own but haven’t lived in for almost a year. Thus the drain and clean that was needed. They were the first and only* company to come out to the property at the time. After they finished, I discovered one panel of my $3,000 baby safety fence — which was completely intact before — had a large hole in it. The damage was clearly caused by some kind of equipment (it looks burned or ripped through, possibly from a pressure washer).

I provided the company with multiple photos showing the fence before, during, and after their service, including their equipment on-site. Despite clear evidence that no one else could have caused the damage, they refused to take responsibility unless I had them on video actually doing it. That is an unreasonable and unrealistic standard — most homeowners don’t have cameras filming workers in their backyard. How weird. Especially when it’s blatantly obvious no one was living in the home and they were the only ones there.

To make matters worse, their only “solution” was to offer a cheap screen patch — the kind you can buy at Walmart/Amazon for $10 — instead of properly repairing or replacing the damaged panel. I got a quote from Pool Guard who installed my baby safety fence and the quote to replace the one panel was $300, but they refused. This is not an ordinary patio screen; it’s a baby safety fence designed to prevent drownings. Offering a screen patch completely defeats its safety purpose and shows a total lack of concern for child safety around pools.

Everyone makes mistakes, but a reputable company owns up to them and makes things right. This company clearly does not. Because of their lack of accountability, cheap attitude toward safety, and unwillingness to fix their mistake, I chose not to move forward with the pool pump installation I had planned. If they can’t take ownership for damage they caused, I can’t trust them to do any further work.

***This is in addition to a horrible job done — I had to repeatedly call to express that the pool wasn’t cleaned properly as there were still tadpoles in the pool… after multiple calls they finally had someone come back out to skim them out. It was absolutely ridiculous I had to fight for that as much as I did. This company might as well have said, “we didn’t damage your baby safety fence AND someone else put the tadpoles in there”. Just zero accountability.

If you value honesty, responsibility, and — most importantly — child safety, do not use this company.

We hired this pool service to handle our indoor pool. After grooving in our service tech all went well. Then they changed our tech. He left doors unlocked and left stains on our deck. He then put so much muriatic acid in the pool we could not enter for two weeks, despite airing it out daily. The Supervisor came and told us they did nothing wrong. Our 3 year old cast iron statues in the pool room corroded due to this mistake. We had to fire the company as they did not take responsibility for the situation. Do not recommend them.

There is zero integrity and respect from this company. Blue Science completely ruined my pool. First off, they damaged my pool fence that we have to keep our young children safe. Secondly they were supposed to deep clean the pool, including a power wash, however, there was still a green fill around the entire pool and told me I would need to shock the pool, deck brush it and heavily chlorinate it which should have been included in the cleaning. Next, at the time of the cleaning pool pump worked fine when they completed the project my pool pump would not turn on without tripping the breaker. Lastly and most importantly, they completely drained the pool, which you’re not supposed to do, and caused the pipe system under my pool to crack allowing air to get into the airline which is going to be a couple thousand dollars to repair.

So THANK YOU Blue Science for costing me a total of about $10,000 to do a cleaning of my pool.

I hired this company a few months back spoke to a lady named victoria who assured me that my first day of service was the prorated price. There was no other fees or anything involved and then explained to me my monthly dues and what I was to get with those monthly in dues, I was very excited based off what she was explaining to me that I was finally going to find the pool company that would do the job the right way. To my surprise right off the bat when I was billed for my first day of service was attached a quarterly fee. Upon calling them to remove that quarterly fee and explain explaining to them why was I charged a quarterly Fee when I haven’t had your service for more than a day? They wanted to overlook that and ignore that and say that was the way they handled things I explained several times I’m not paying a quarterly fee until I’ve had a quarter of the time of service. I was told I was gonna be refunded that never got refunded that. Next month of billing they charged for an extra week because of two extra days in the month, even though I was paying a monthly fee, they felt that because of the extra two days of the month they needed to charge for a whole new entire Week in addition without sending an email or notifying me they charged me the extra fees of course I called questioned and Complained. To sum it up multiple times I had to spend on the phone every single week when they came here to find out why they were charging extra for certain things why there was extra fees why there was random charges in the middle of the month and not on the normal due date all things that had to go back and get corrected and I had to spend several hours on the phone pointing these things out so if you don’t pay attention to your billing statement They will definitely charge you all sorts of hidden fees If you don’t pay attention Now to address quality of service I had to have them come back multiple times when on camera their Pool Guy would come in the backyard. Stand there for two minutes not test the water not check the pump not do anything to the water and then immediately send me an email saying he was here yet not doing the weekly service. This app actually happened on several occasions when I’d leave in the morning day of service come home and my pool looked to be in the same exact condition as it was that morning yet I received an email saying it was Done. I’ve spent more time reviewing cameras and calling their customer service to get things corrected and to prove to them the incompetent employees that they put in these trucks and send out that aren’t really doing what you pay for. I called several times attempting to cancel with them, begging to keep me as a customer saying they would make it right. They proceeded along one additional month with hidden fees, reassuring me they were gonna credit me for things that I had to be refunded for yet still months ago. I’m still to this day now that I’ve canceled service have not received the $140 That they owe me back as I did not want them to even step foot on my property again and was absolutely fed up paying for the poor quality of service I was receiving

Absolutely a 10 out of 10 experience! I highly recommend Blue Science Pool Service to anyone needing pool work in Largo. After trying to reach several pool companies about repairs, adding a pool heater, and giving our pool a fresh new look, we just weren’t getting any responses. But as soon as we contacted them, everything changed. Jared came out to meet with us within a week, listened carefully to what we wanted, and clearly explained all our options on the spot. He made sure we understood the whole process from beginning to end, including how long it would take to get a quote. Once we approved everything, we were amazed at how quickly the project got started—just a few days later! The crew did all the necessary repairs and upgrades, and although things got a little messy during the day, they always left everything spotless by the time they finished each evening. Getting our pool updated was the best decision we’ve made. We wish we had reached out much sooner!
