It appears that I had a similar experience as many others. We were charged $250 more than the quote and the job was never completed. I paid the bill in full and now I am looking for a new Tree guy to finish the job.

Palm trees look great! Yard was in perfect shape! I spoke with John who gave me a fair estimate and they were done the next day!

Every time I have hired Tree Masters I get great work for a fair price. Fast, courteous, no-nonsense owner is running a great company. Tree Masters has done both commercial and residential jobs for me.

As a business owner, I normally write positive reviews but my experience with Tree Masters was so bad, I decided to give a poor review. Dealt with John, Our main request was to have one palm in front yard debooted and it and another palm trimmed. Quoted $200 for all the work, then sent out workers who trimmed the two palms (poorly), didn't deboot the one tree, left a mess in the yard and sent a bill for the $200. Called John back. He apologized and said he would take care of it in the next week. A few days later, I got an "amended" invoice for $100 stating WE DO NOT DEBOOT PALMS and PAYMENT DUE UPON RECEIPT. Called Smith & Sons Tree Service who came out the next day. They quoted $100 to deboot the palm, came back that afternoon and completed the work, leaving the area completely clean. They also pointed out how Tree Masters had trimmed the palms back too far and had left the berry stalks. I would NOT recommend Tree Masters to anyone. VERY DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER!

Would highly recommend Treemasters to all my friends and have already with great feedback. John is fair and honest and they do great work. I am enjoying my new backyard minus the trashy pine trees. We just added a new pool in their place and couldn't be happier. Thanks John

These guys are one of the best in the business. They know what they are doing, they have the right equipment and they get the job done. When you actually see a huge pine or palm tree being craned over your house you realize just how much skill it takes and also the danger that comes along with it. Don't get frustrated if the schedule changes... for large removals the weather and ground have to be just right. Trust the experts and Tree Masters is an expert.

Tree Masters is our worst nightmare! Would not recommend them to cut down even a weed. They were contracted to take down a tree next to our home and dropped it right on top of our AC unit and a retaining wall, crushing both to piece. Phil, the supervisor on-site said they would take care of the damages immediately. After 11 days and counting, the owner of the business John is further victimizing the victims by pushing us over to an insurance company rather than paying out of their pocket to have it fixed. Clearly Tree Masters is not reputable, does not own up to the damages they cause, and most importantly, the customer does not come first. 11 days so far without any AC unit or repairs to our home….So do yourself a favor and stay away from Tree Masters!

John at tree Masters came through, gave us a fair quote, and did excellent work. 10/10 recommend for any tree work needed in Jacksonville Florida!

The tree trimming they did seemed fine although the branches fell on our roof more than I would have liked. Our tree stump remains jagged and over ground level. We have called three times to ask them to finish the job or explain why the current state is the best that can be done, but they do not return our call.

Made appointment, arrived on time, did great work and guys were kind and professional. John quoted a fair price and got the job done promptly! Will call them again when needed and have referred them multiple times. Good dependable and knowledgable company-

Do not recommend! Over Promise, Under Delivered, Over Charged.
Did not complete the job...many dead limbs John agreed to trim were left undone.
Crew left job without grinding stump. Had to call for them to return.
Left some palm tree limbs half cut. Started to dangle a few days later.
Damage tile roof and stucco with bucket lift. Crew denied they did it and hid broken tile under bushes. Luckily we were watching through the upstair windows.
Received a bill in the mail two weeks later for $250 more than the quote.
ADVICE: Get quote in writing and SAVE IT until final bill arrives. Make sure quote clearly outlines everything to be done. Hold crew accountable to finish the job as quoted. Be prepared to deal with an owner that can be difficult to work with.

I had an appointment with John to give me an estimate. I waited over an hour and a half and I called their office about him not showing up. The office personnel apologized. John called me back and said that he would be here the next morning. The next morning he left a voicemail while I was on the phone. While I was listening to his voicemail he sent me at text message saying that he was on his way. That was around 10 am. I waited. Later that morning he sent me a text asking if between 3 and 3:30 was okay. I said perfect. He showed up and I showed him the trees that I wanted cut at my fence line. He tried to talk me out of what I wanted and appeared to get an attitude because I told him about the other estimates that I had received we going to do what I wanted. He began walking back to his truck and I thought that it was to give me the estimate and instead he said that he wasn't going to waist his time competing against the other estimates. He got in his truck and left. John was extremely rude and definitely not on time. I definitely will not be using him or tree masters to cut or remove any of my trees.

Outstanding work! Tree Masters just finished a job for me yesterday and I can't say enough about their skill, professionalism or timely delivery. It was a difficult job involving very large branches over my garage, house and pool fence, but they got them all down without any damage to anything. It was amazing to watch them in action. I would definitely recommend them and will most likely use then again myself. You can trust these guys to get the job done right.

I cannot recommend this company as they didn’t complete work as agreed and John’s interaction with me on the phone has been appalling.

Tree Masters did not complete the job as specified. When the company has reached out for payment several times in the months since the job, my wife or I have told them that we are happy to pay in full as soon as they return and lop one branch that is brushing up against my neighbor’s house. This was part of the original quote.

I reached out again today to resolve the issue as the company has still not returned, months after the job. John acted like a schoolyard bully.

Before things even got heated on the phone today he referred to my wife and me as 'you people'. He spent a large part of our call talking over the top of me and ended the call by saying 'I will come and cut down the limb and you will pay me' and then he hung up. John, you won't be coming back onto my property. When you are ready to have a civil conversation, I will discuss partial payment for partial completion of the job.

    A little history...

I made it clear that before any work began, I wanted to see evidence of the company's liability insurance and workers’ compensation. (I decided against using a cheaper service who did not have workers' compensation insurance.) I was told this would be provided.

On the day, John arrived and outlined what work would be done but left without saying goodbye and therefore I didn’t get a chance to ask him to provide evidence of the insurance. When I addressed this with his deputy, he said that he had two guys here on the clock waiting to get started and that he didn't have the documentation. Of course I felt pressure to let them commence work and I did.

I took an iPhone video of the deputy stating that the company does have liability and workers' compensation insurance. To this day I have not seen it.

So today I again called Tree Masters saying that I am happy to pay when they complete the job. From the outset John took a bullying posture and things went downhill from there.

He claims my wife came out during the cutting and 'started pointing' and that his guys ended up doing $500 (he later changed that to $600) of work for the $300 job. I can't validate that as I had left for work. But even if that is true, what point are you making here, John? Surely 'mission creep' is a risk on every job you do and it's your responsibility to have policies in place and to train your workers to be polite, but firm, with homeowners to say that these new requests are outside the agreed scope of work and that they cannot be done, or that they can be done for additional cost.

Bottom line is that the limb that concerned me the most, the one touching my neighbor’s house, was not trimmed. I think even John will acknowledge that the limb in question was part of the original quote.

I called for an estimate to trim some large hanging limbs before hurricane season. John promptly returned my call and came by the house, he was very knowledgeable and honest. They were able to complete the job within a couple weeks. Crew was professional and cleaned up after themselves. Will definitely use John before every hurricane season.
