I had reached out to air pros for some assistance with my AC which suddenly did not power on my nest thermostat. I struggled a little bit because a lot of these HVAC repair places do not want to deal with Google nest products or anything of that kind. To my surprise, I had a technician come out named Barbaro who was patient and amazing. He arrived fairly quickly after my call was entered, made sure he did not dirty my house when walking in and working,took off his shoes respectfully. And patiently worked with me to identify the root cause which ended up being the AC unit. He went straight to work, explained what was the issue and in no time I had my AC back up and running. Definitely use this company. If you have any AC issues they hire great people.

About a year ago, I contacted Air Pros because the 30-year-old house I purchased wasn’t cooling. This is Florida—cooling isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. After their assessment, I was talked into buying a brand-new HVAC system. I didn’t have the cash for such a big purchase, but they quickly offered their “credit option.” The total cost? About $10,000. I figured I’d be in the house for a long time, so I went ahead.

Fast forward to about 3–4 months ago: Air Pros called me for what they said was a service check on the unit. They came out, and I was charged a fee for the visit.

Yesterday, I noticed water leaking inside the house from the system. When I checked, I saw icicles inside the unit—so bad that the filter was frozen in place. I turned the fan on to let it melt.

Today, I called Air Pros again. A technician came out and told me the system had no Freon. It seems like that’s the go-to diagnosis for HVAC companies. My first question was: Wouldn’t the last service call have caught this? If there was a leak, wouldn’t they have noticed and addressed it?

That’s when I got the next familiar line: “There’s probably a leak.” The solution? They could “leak-proof” the unit and top off the Freon—for the low cost of $700.

At this point, I can’t help but feel taken advantage of. Less than a year after paying $10,000 for a brand-new system, I’m being told I need to spend hundreds more to fix what sounds like either a faulty installation or something that should have been addressed in the last service call.
