Short answer: the job got done. No issues regarding the actual work.
Long answer: I reached out in October for a quote. I never received a response. I reached out to people in my neighborhood and received an email and phone number. I emailed for information. I got a response and was told they'd be in contact. Never heard anything else.
I reached out to the phone number I was provided. A lady responded, said they'd come out, measure, get me my quote. When I got my quote, they told me I had about 30 days to secure the rate. I ended up reaching back out and agreeing and paying the deposit (50% of the total cost). It was about $1800 up front. This was in November. December started, and then the holidays.
After New Years, I reached out on a time frame for my project (its been at least 6 weeks at this point). I never received a response. I reached out again to my neighbor for a contact, and was given the phone number to Daniel, the owner. He assured me that he was going to get this ball rolling.
February came, I reached out again. Daniel made it a point to come to my home and talk to me in person (and he did). He assured me this job was going to get done, apologized because the lady who started my quote no longer works with him so basically my project was lost. Within days the ground was dug up. I thought this project was going to turn around finally.
We ran into a hiccup when the concrete was scheduled to be poured (not their fault). I let Daniel know when the situation was resolved. This was the last week of Feb/first week of March. A few weeks pass. I keep asking about the work. I ended up getting an email from Maria about my project and let her know I'd been in contact with Daniel and didn't have any updates. Daniel let me know the concrete was going to be poured around March 27. It never happened. I reached out, Daniel said he was sorry, basically everyone who was on my project wasn't there anymore, things got lost, and he was dealing with a new vendor all at the same time. I tried to be understanding, I get that things happen outside of our control.
Daniel assures me it'll be done the weekend between 4/2 and 4/5. April 2 rolls around, and I reach out to Maria just to confirm a time frame so we can make sure vehicles aren't in the way. Maria says basically it doesn't make sense for them to come to just my house and only do one property, and it'll probably be another week or so to get additional properties done so that it's an effective use of their time.
I got furious. I left Daniel a voice mail saying what Maria said to me. He assured me that there was a miscommunication and work would be done that weekend. The work was done on Sat April 4.
I reached out to Daniel thanking him for the quick service that day, and to see if there was anything I needed to do on my end to maintain while the concrete cured. I didn't really get an answer, just that there was other work going on.
Monday April 6 I got a very sudden text saying, the work is done you can submit your remaining payment. That's it. No response to the maintenance I'd asked about. No additional apology for this project that took 5 months when there really was only 4 days of actual work.
I felt that because now it was an inconvenience to him, he wanted a quick response. He wanted to be paid (and I understand that). Where was the urgency when I'd reached out multiple times about a project that I was PAYING for. Where was any urgency when he realized that the people who had my project were gone, and I was left unanswered. Where was the urgency back in October when I first reached out for a quote, even that took a month.
Chineas did a big project in my neighborhood to expand multiple driveways, everyone sang praise about the work and the company. But because I was flying solo, I felt like I was more of an inconvenience.
The communication was bad. Point blank. It was hard to get a response. When I finally did it was because I was mad. I won't reach out to them for work again. The frustration outweighed the praise from my neighbors. -
