I had a great experience building with JTB/Interra. One of the best things about working with this company is their warranty department. As with any new build you are going to need some touch ups or repairs. Anytime I had an issue their warranty team was quick to respond and happy to help. If you are going to build in the Grand Rapids area I highly recommend using them. They will make sure you have a high quality house and at the end of the day you will feel great about the biggest purchase in your life.

JTB did a excellent job with the design and build of our new home. They are very easy to work with and after living in our new home for 10 months there are only a few minor changes we would have made.

Poor workmanship = poor investment. I regret purchasing a home from JTB. Multiple landscaping contractors have commented on the dismal state that the lot was left. We expected to purchase topsoil and sod, but what we didn't expect was a regularly flooded yard.

Due to the poor drainage planning, every house on my side of the street has at best a swamp for a yard, at worst, mosquito infested ponds. Every time it rains I end up with several inches of water in my yard, sometimes measuring over 5". The builders know it is a problem and refuse to address it. The estimated cost to address the issue is several thousands of dollars.

You might think you're safe due to the home warranty, but its useless in this situation. Disappointing and unprofessional workmanship.

As a local real estate agent, I have had a number of clients build with JTB Homes throughout the years. I attend the meetings with them and find the process very transparent and simple. My clients appreciate the customizable floor plans, numerous design selections, weekly updates throughout the construction phase and professional interactions with their project manager. Their homes are well built with attention to detail, energy efficient, and have excellent resale value.

We currently live in a neighborhood built by JTB Homes and Interra Homes and originally chose to build again here because of the community and friendships our family has built. Unfortunately, our experience with JTB was extremely disappointing.

After deciding before Christmas to build a larger home, we signed a purchase agreement with JTB. Early in the process we were given inaccurate information about our home plans. After we pushed back, they corrected it, but it set the tone for what followed.

As current residents, we were already familiar with the build quality in the neighborhood. Some aspects are acceptable, but others raised concerns. The standard carpet quality is very poor — many homes have visible tack boards and heavy matting within a short time. For a home priced around $800,000, we expected more flexibility and better materials. When we asked about upgrading carpet, we were told we could simply rip it out after closing and hire another company to install what we wanted, which was surprising given the price point and expectations for a new build.

Even when we offered to pay for upgrades, several reasonable requests were denied, including finish details and installing a universal valve for upgraded fixtures. During the process we were told that we were being “negative,” despite the fact that our concerns only arose when we received pushback about specific upgrade requests or when we addressed inaccurate information provided at the start.

We were excited about the home overall and had selected finishes we loved. However, communication deteriorated significantly. We experienced long periods of no response, missed deadlines that we believe resulted from premeditated lack of communication, and ultimately were pressured into signing a mutual termination agreement. Over the phone, we were told they “didn’t think they couldn’t meet our expectations,” despite the fact that we had negotiated terms and were fully committed to building.

In addition, they have yet to give us our earnest deposit back and will not return any phone calls. Beyond unprofessional.

The experience left us feeling misled and undervalued as buyers. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend building with JTB Homes.

Called and got a estimate. Called the owner 3 times to cut down the trees. Each time he said he was on his way and never showed up. Very poor customer service.

They showed up quickly, got the job done, cleaned up the mess and gave a fair price. I'm very pleased with their service.

I was scheduled for a tree to be trimmed at 0900 they never came. I called and was told they would talk to the owner. An hour later I called back and was told they would call me after lunch. Two hours later I called back and they said they were coming the next day. This is unacceptable I would miss $600 from working to wait for them to come and make $1275. I do not recommend this business.

Shane was awesome from the time I contacted him about the demolition that I needed until the job was completed. He kept me well informed as all stages of the job was going on and got the job done. He is a very hard worker with great work ethics. The price of the job was very affordable as well. Thank you Shane for a job well done.

Hamid and his team are the consummate professionals. They are courteous, experienced, knowledgeable, timely, and just great to be around. I always have a great feeling when he and his team are working. I’m doing a two floor addition with a finished attic.
