We have been noticing that the brick chimney on our house looked like it needed tuck pointing. We wanted to make sure that we would get a quality repair. We also wanted to make sure that we got the right people to do the work. We did a very comprehensive search to find the right people to do the work. We were fortunate to find the people at A B Richards Professional to do the work for us. They were so good at analyzing our problem and diagnosing what was wrong and honestly telling us what would be required to get the chimney repaired properly. Then they went to work and wow were we impressed. In difficult summer working conditions they rapidly and expertly repaired the damage without damaging our roof or leaving any unsightly construction mess. Every time I look at my chimney I just smile. The work was right, the price was right, and I felt like the Richards were now my good friends. If you need masonry work don't fail to give these people a try. You won't be sorry, we promise.

I gave details on what I had and needed. When they arrived they said they couldn't do it because they needed more time than they had alloted. Once they came back the total cost between the first and second trip was 4 times what they quoted. They told me it works be origami another $200 on top of the quote which I was more than happy to pay. They did a great job, just pricey in my opinion.

I did understand the scope of everything that was done. I was not the last appointment of the day. I was scheduled for between 11 and 2. They asked if they could come later so as to not have to backtrack did to the cost of gas. I allowed them to service 2 other people before coming to my home. They were very professional and left my home clean with all the work they had to do. What blew me away was after they read my review they called and left a message asking me to call them back so they could explain everything that was done because while I said many great things "The review would still hurt them".

I have been very happy with the chimney cleaning and window cleaning service that Bartholomew has performed. My family and I have called upon Bartholomew for over 20 years. He is extremely detailed, professional, thorough, and super knowledgeable in his field. Most important to me, it is evident that Bartholomew cares about his customers.

They did a great job cleaning the firebox and chimney. I'm now confident in using our wood burning fireplace. They also informed us and took photos of the mess left in our gutters by another company that had redone the stucco on our chimney. The result of that work left the seal on our chimney cap broken, which A.B. Richards repaired for a reasonable fee. The cleaning fee was exactly what was quoted over the phone and warranted for the professionalism and responsiveness provided. They also took the time to give us a quote for cleaning our gutters and windows, which I asked for.

Bartholomew and Kat were honestly the best! First of all, they were super timely, prompt, and exceeded expectations with how quickly they completed this project! They met me on Monday and were finished Thursday. It sounds like a quick fix operation, but my chimneys (3) are “custom-made” from 1951 and had very shoddy work done to them, even Bart was astounded by the complete lack of care. Even with all the problems of a 1951 house, Bart was exceptional with his work and honesty, explaining everything and showing me pictures at every step along the way. He and Kat are a great team and I would highly recommend them! They’ve only done my chimney project thus far, but I will definitely be going back to them with a lot more projects. A++!

Super impressed! A.B. Richards Professionals is awesome! We Just had our really dirty and unique chimney cleaned by them and wow, they really know their stuff. They were on time, super careful about keeping things clean, and did an awesome job. Plus, they gave us some solid tips for keeping our chimney in good shape. Bartholomew took the time to explain the work ahead of time and to check in with us when he found something that might change. They inspected and cleaned our chimney first, and were so careful to keep the inside of our house clean and tidy during that process.

The larger part of the project was our chimney, which had deteriorating grout and lacked spark arrester caps. On the day of the project as Bartholomew started work, he found the grout was worse than his surface inspection had found. Without adding any extra charge he prepped and re-grouted the whole chimney, even color matching the tan color of grout on the rest of the house. The cap he provided for our chimney was also very nice – stainless steel. Overall the project turned out so much better than we hoped! Absolutely exceeded our expectations!

I hired A.B. Richards Professionals to inspect and clean two fireplaces with gas logs. On the day they were to come, I was unexpectedly called in to work and when I notified them they were very accommodating to reschedule. On the rescheduled appointment day, I was contacted 15 min prior to their arrival. After introductions, Bartholomew explained what would be done and how. There was concern over the stability of the chimney and I reassured him that I put a ladder against it regularly and it would support the weight of him and his ladder.
There were several issues he found on his inspection that he felt needed to be addressed from a structural and safety standpoint. He felt that we could still accomplish the cleaning, so he instructed Kat to start with that. He went outside and assessed the issues while cleaning the flues from the top. He found that one of the chimney's flue tiles was loose and needed to be removed so that it wouldn't fall off the chimney and cause damage to the roof or things on the ground. He removed the tile and replaced the cap/spark arrestor. These were the minimum safety issues that needed to be dealt with. He informed me that the chimney cap and several of the bricks/mortar needed repair/replacement and would need attention soon. The entire process was very clean with no soot entering the home. The large industrial vacuum they used sucked it all up. After cleaning, they installed fire enhancer to add to the ambiance of the fire experience. I was totally satisfied with the inspection assessment and the outcome of the cleaning experience.

I hired this company to do some masonry work due to a flooding issue I had in my back yard. They were very friendly over the phone with scheduling the bid. I explained that I needed it done next day just in case it rained again, they were very understanding with the urgency of my situation & they came out next day. They showed up early & got the job done very efficiently. They fixed my issue and were very professional & friendly in the process. I had them leave me with a business card because of how impressed I was with there quality of work and ended up hiring them back to clean my windows, clean my chimney and also clean out my gutters. Ive hired companies in the past for similar jobs & A. B Richards has by far done the best work. They are worth every penny, 10/10 would recommend.

I am so pleased with the people that did chimney sweep, I felt so comfortable having them in my home ... The thing that impressed me the most is how they put tarps down over carpet in the entire living but they were so professional and experienced that that made no mess what so ever!!

Bartholomew came to inspect my chimney, which I thought needed patching but turned out to need a whole lot more. He was patient and understanding as he walked me through building codes, structural issues, what he thought had happened, and his plan to repair the chimney.

Once he got into it, it turned out to be more technical than originally thought. He was able to figure out how to make it work, and the result is fantastic.

They came and did a good job cleaning our wood burning stove. It's a 2 story house with a basement, which is where the stove was. He got up on the roof in the middle of a blizzard. Our chimney is very tall, maybe 25-28 feet, but somehow they were able to clean the entire length of it.

They put down tarps and used filtered suction equipment, which made for very little dust and no mess.

Couldn’t have asked for a better experience getting my chimney done. These are great hard working people who were kind enough to give me a ride to the bank because I didn’t have a car, then spent the time to thoroughly assess my old chimney and made sure to find a fair estimate within my price range to make it match the old brick as close as possible. He also encountered several unexpected obstacles that made his work load much greater than expected and still completed the job by the end of the day. Wonderful small business and deserved their rating as the best chimney place in SLC!!

They did a great job cleaning our chimney after several years of nonuse, including removing overgrown vines on the chimney top, new caps, and resealing some ventwork. They were very easy to work with, cleanup was complete, and the results were great.

Clean fast honest and efficient! They helped caulk cracks in the pipe on the roof, secure the smoke stack top, clean everything out and teach me a few tips. They even helped me find a wood delivery service. I’ll be calling them again. Thanks!

Received great service from AB Richards! They cleaned and serviced our gas fireplace. They were professional, friendly and market priced. I appreciate the transparency on what needed to be fixed in order to run the fireplace safely. Would recommend to my friends and family and will try them in the future for air duct cleaning.

Paul came out and cleaned out our dryer vent and after some run around from the appliance company that came out initially, Paul came out a second time at no charge to guarantee his work and has been very professional to work with. Doug was able to work our request for dryer vent duct cleaning in early on a Sat. morning with very short notice. He was prompt, professional and possessed the tools to get the job done. He was done in about an hour and my dryer is venting much better now!

Doug, James and Rome were amazing! From day one, they were on it. I scheduled to have my air ducts and dryer vent cleaned and sanitized. They called the day before to confirm and set up a time to arrive. They arrived on time and described to me in detail what they would be doing.
