The crew of Hawaiian Built Roofing did an excellent job and cleaned up the site when they were finished. They worked from sunup to sundown to get the job done quickly. It was amazing how fast they were able to plow through the old shingles. Very satisfied.

Sandra with Hawaiian Built Roofing is extremely knowledgeable in everything roofing and gutters! She went over the new solar shingle and I was blown away at the technology that is available for my roof. She runs an honest and transparent business with high quality outcomes. Highly recommend Sandra and her amazing team at Hawaiian Built Roofing!

Sandra and Israel at Hawaiian Built Roofing and their roofing crew did an outstanding five star job from the beginning to the end of my roof installation. From adorable Israel coming to my house (on-time) for our roofing estimate which included a detailed overview of the product and what to expect during the installation process to Sandra being an excellent communicator with me throughout the process to the roofing crew being polite, courteous and competent in the install process. All of my very particular requests were met at every aspect during the process. Sandra even over delivered. She was tasked with communicating with my insurance company, she bounced back from a shingle shortage and made sure my roof install was high quality and done right. I interviewed 3 companies before I chose Hawaiian Built Roofing. Let me save you some leg work. Give them a call and have Israel come by and give you a bid. I am looking forward to seeing them this spring for my annual roof clean that is included in the price of my roof. Five Star Company! I highly recommend Hawaiian Built Roofing.

Edit after Hawaiian responded back: Saundra you are correct that the shingle is a 40 year rated, but we have the emerald pro warranty. I already have all the paper work squared away for that.I’m not sure where your looking for a permit, but a permit was acquired, I have a copy of it and we have the pass inspection from the city as well. Sometimes it’s not just about price, but about a company standing by a policy they have and not bad mouthing other companies every chance they have. I never included it in the original review, because I was trying to just focus on system, but my husband ultimately didn’t want to deal with you because he bought up instances where you bad mouthed other companies and how they did things. As he said “it just doesn’t sit right with me.” Your response to our review is just another example of this trying to point out that no permit has been pulled, when in fact a permit was pulled. Original We recently went through the process of having to replace our entire roof and got six different quotes from companies. Hawaiian Built roofing was one of the companies we worked with. They were actually in our top two for who we wanted to work with. Even though we ended up not working with them I will say the biggest pro we had for them is that they communicated very well and even made modifications to the roofing quote and met with us a second time in person. The main reason we ended up not working with them was because we didn’t feel like they were living up to their “apples to apples” guarantee. In the contract they gave us to look over they stated that if you could a roofing company that would do the exact same job but for less than they would refund the difference and give you a $50 gift card. I ended up getting multiple other quotes that used the same shingle, had the same process for underlayment (ice and water shield, starter shingle etc), however they were roughly $3000-$5000 less than Hawaiian, and they included the Valley Metal. I shared all of this with Saundra and they came back with Option 1 - doing the metal valley and doing ice and water shield on 100% of the house. For the same cost $35,000. Or option 2 - A traditional valley package that would reduce the price by $1500. She also offered to come over to take a more detailed look of everything, which we took her up on. After meeting with her and going over everything she told us that Certainteed was having a sale on some colors of shingles and she would look at those and get back to us. She was able to get the Certainteed in a specific color for $33,000 or the Malarkey Vista in Storm Grey for $33,000. We did some more research and learned that it’s not recommended to put ice and water shield on the entire house as it can cause condensation build up if its not put in 100% correctly. We also learned that the Malarkey shingles are a better quality than the Certainteed. The Malarkey also has a better warranty overall. At $33,000 they were still $3,000 over the other company that we were considering that was going to use the Malarkey Vista. After my husband and I talked about it we decided that we didn’t feel like they were standing by their apples to apples guarantee. My husband also felt like Sandra was “putting down” other roofing companies. I didn’t see it as much as he did. I took what she was saying as trying to explain why their company was “better” than other companies by focusing on the fact that they don’t subcontract out etc. I will say that when we told the other company that we were choosing between them and Hawaiian they said “that makes sense, they are our biggest competition.” The company we chose doesn’t subcontract out either, we made a point of asking and checking the contract for it. We ended up going with the other company who got us the Malarkey Vista shingle with a 50 year non prorated warranty for a couple thousand less than their original quote due to deal they were having. I wouldn’t have minded working with Hawaiian Built Roofing, but wasn’t willing to pay $5000 more for the same system.
