We used CQC to remove an area of dead gras, put in sprinkler system and sod. It looks beautiful. Charles is very professional and responsive. Very happy with my backyard.

Overall satisfied, but should be aware of a few things if you’re going to use this company.
Pros:
1.Hardworking they came and worked from up to sundown to do a large project and with the exception of a few items and cleanup, they finished on time.
2. Respectful team members working on the job.
3. Willing to make small needed adjustments when they run into obstacles.
4. Fairly priced compared to many others that we got quotes from and they stuck to there estimate.

(Tip) It is always better to pay any contractor with a Card versus Cash in case there is a dispute in the future. That way it is time stamped and documented proof that the contractor was paid) and always get a signed contract detailing everything that is agreed to be done with the agreed-upon Completion Date and Price.”

Cons:
1.Owner Charles seems outgoing and willing to execute the plan discussed but doesn’t appear to write it down. And if Charles is not the one doing the job himself, expect there to be a lot of disconnect between what was discussed versus what the workers think they’re supposed to do. I would suggest if you go with this company, to write out what is discussed in specific detail and in the order each item is supposed to be executed .
Make a copy for yourself and for Charles so that you can use it to reference if there’s confusion with the workers. Like many contractors they likely have several jobs going on at once, and information for your specific project can get lost in the mix. So be prepared to write everything down before your project starts. And take Before, During and After pictures.

2. Highly do not recommend paying any contractor the full amount until the job is 100% completely finished to your satisfaction, including
With any contracting company, do not expect things to be left how you want them,”make sure that they are” before you make that finale payment.

3. And be sure to check the work as they are doing it so they don’t have to go back and fix things that they missed because of the workers not having information they should have. Again, I recommend this with any contracting project. It causes great frustration to have to go point things out that we’re discussed that the workers were unaware they were supposed to do. Making a list and ensuring it is done in order, as was discussed will cause the least amount of frustration and time waste.

Overall, a good company to go with if you can follow those guidelines.

CQC came out and accessed our property. Gave us a detailed layout of what our property needs. They are super knowledgeable on their expertise. Looking forward to working with them!

Charles does a great job and is very reliable. Always been happy with his services. As a local realtor I use Charles for both new construction and pre existing homes for not only myself but my clients as well. He does great at all services that he offers which include landscaping, sprinklers and gutter and moss cleanup aswell. Thanks again Charles!

Charles and his team were professionalism defined. From the moment we met Charles and his team, we were so at ease with working with them. The pricing was more than fair and the work they did to our backyard far exceeded our expectations. We got river rock and sod put in. They made a great recommendation on how it would work best, due to a wall behind our house. If you are looking to get any landscaping done, this is the team you want.

Since it was new construction our back yard was nothing but dirt.
Landscaping was our top priority upon moving in as we have two dogs and needed a yard for them. So thankful we found Charles to do the work. He came out quickly for the bid, provided an estimate within our budget and started the project soon thereafter. His communication is clear and concise. He understood our vision and was able to implement it perfectly.

We highly recommend his services and definitely plan on using CQC for any future landscaping needs!

We hired Charles Clapper of CQC Landscaping and were very detailed about what we wanted and needed. We even provided him with a nearly to scale drawing of the layout and measurements we needed to accommodate future plans. Charles was very confident and seemed to know what he was talking about; however, we soon learned that his work wasn’t quality and he was just a great sales man. To summarize, he is not a detailed person and isn’t very professional. In the beginning he is very friendly, communicative, and hard working, but once paid things changed and got difficult. Ultimately he did complete the job we paid him to do, but it was not the quality we expected or worth the stress, frustration, and mild confrontation we had with him during the process. Our experience was so stressful, frustrating, and drawn out, that we were prepared to sue Charles and CQC to get the job completed and done correctly. We had even scheduled to get bids from other landscapers to fix and complete our yard just before CQC came back and finished the job. We were very flexible and accommodating with Charles throughout the process and we tried to be very clear and communicative with him to avoid issues as we started seeing them pop up. Charles always had an excuse, blamed others, and constantly told us “don’t worry, you’ll love it, I promise” whenever we had a concern. We were surprised that CQC didn’t string the property line at the start of the job. Eventually he did string a line, but by then CQC had already put in our rock and it was about 2 feet over into our neighbors yard in some areas, and almost created an issue for our future shed area. When confronted about the property line issue, he told us that our homebuilder told him that the property pins were wrong and therefore he strung it correctly. However, the fence company pulled the plot map and dug down to find the property pins, which confirmed that Charles was wrong. Instead of dealing with CQC on another issue we elected to just repair all of the drip line ourselves, because Charles used a knife to cut the line to attach tubing and dripper heads, which left them leaking/spraying water everywhere. We also had to rebury the dripper line under our rock because he simply racked our rock on top of it leaving a mound all along the line. He argued with us that the holes they dug for our trees and plants (averaging about 4 inches deep) were sufficient for planning in; but eventually CQC came back and dug them to our satisfaction. Charles and his team started the job on March 23, 2020. They worked hard and fast and completed a lot of the job by end of day March 27, 2020. Charles asked to be paid in full with cash on March 27, 2020 although the entire job was not yet completed and he promised to come back to finish the job after our home builder completed our sprinkler system in the front yard so that Charles could connect the backyard sprinklers. There were still other non-sprinkler things he could have completed, so that only the sprinkler connection was left to come back and finish later, but instead he left several things to finish at a later date. When CQC did come back to “finish” the job he only did part of it and said we had to wait for a week straight of dry warm weather to fix the lawn sink holes. We took his recommendation, but then, there were other excuses about not being able to get new sod, etc. that delayed things a little longer. The lawn sank everywhere the sprinkler lines were, because CQC never properly compacted the dirt before laying the sod. We informed Charles immediately, but he kept putting us off and then weather held us up, and on July 22, 2020 CQC returned to fix it. Once we paid him, he became very difficult to reach and communication nearly ceased. From start to finish, it took Charles and CQC Landscaping nearly 4 months to complete our backyard landscaping. There were other frustrating issues that we chose not to address with CQC.

Very poor quality, no attention to detail, and did not finish the job.
Just to be clear, on June 10th you said you would fix issues and there are several. I've not seen or heard from you. I've fixed 90% myself.
So, I contacted Charles and we meet August 13th. I had fixed most issues by then. There were 2 things left to do. He said he would have them done in 2 to 3 weeks. Its now 4 weeks and they are not complete. I'll have to do it.
I tried to let him make this a little better. He can't get it done.
As I said in the beginning, poor quality, no attention to detail, did not finish the job, and did not do what he sad he would do.

Charles and his team went above and beyond helping me with my front and backyard installing a custom waterfall in my backyard and paving my front yard I highly recommend having CQC for any of your landscaping needs

Charles and his crew did amazing. They showed up on time, got everything done quicker than expected, and cost less than I thought. My yard looks beautiful and maybe the best in the neighborhood lol. I’m very pleased with the work that got done and I highly recommend them to anyone who asks for a good landscaping company. 10/10 service and professionalism!

They did an awesome job on our yard! They were very affordable compared others we talked to. We weren't really sure what would work well in our yard, but they helped us figure it out. We asked for a low-maintenance yard, and they helped us achieve that. Even after they finished their work, they were very responsive to our questions. From start to finish they completed the entire (very large) back yard in 4 days. They cleaned up after themselves quite nicely, too! They even went above-and-beyond and fixed one of our front-yard heads for us, even though they weren't the ones that installed the sprinkler heads in the front. I also loved seeing that this was a family-run business. All-in-all, I was very pleased with their work and would recommend them to others.

I hired CQC based on reviews and our first meeting with Charles. I think he can do quality work. While working on our project however, he had some personnel issues and took on another project that distracted him from our project. I believe he is taking steps to correct this, but wanted to put out an honest review. If you feel he is distracted during your job, keep a close eye on things. We trusted his work and have had to redo things that his guys did for him.

They placed our trees incorrectly, Charles moved one for us. Overshot the grass seed, so it grew in the rocks. Drip line not ran and buried under rocks, so we had to buy more and clean it up ourselves. As well as the drip was turned around, so the weighted edge was not on the trees and the wrong head was installed on our big tree. The big tree was not getting enough water at first. Luckily, we researched it and corrected the problem before we lost the tree. Sprinkler heads were not buried deep enough so during my second mowing, I accidentally ran over them because they were in thick grassy areas, destroyed them and had to replace two. Bare patches in the yard and overgrowth in other areas. We have fertilized and reseeded to try to even things out. Charles suggested pulling it up and doing sod instead. Another cost in an already over priced yard we aren’t willing to incur yet. Hoping we can get it filled in with our care, but the ground is now very uneven and rocky in spots due to the passage of time between prep and actual seeding. Charles talked about coming back and doing it right, but he had to be at another job. They did come and rake one section for a few minutes and called it good. We were out of town, but I watched on camera.

Disappointed by the lack of time he personally spent in our yard based on the amount of money we paid. He did come and try to redo some of the work his guys messed up, but quite a bit of damage had already been done and the manpower/time to correct it was just not there.

Long story summarized, I think Charles can do a good job, if your job is his main focus. But if he has another job going at the same time, be prepared to get less than his best. Also, if he has subs hired, be prepared to manage them yourself. He did not show the days subs worked in our yard. We were not prepared for that and it caused a bit of extra strain on our working relationship with CQC. Charles tried to make it right after the subs did things incorrectly, however doing things after the fact always leaves a bit of a bad taste. Had he been here in the morning to line them out or walked it with them when they finished, I believe it would have gone differently.

We used CQC Landscaping to redo our landscaping in both our front and back yard. We were not exactly sure what our vision was but in working with Charles, he was able to help us out. He was always very responsive when we had questions, and was in constant communication as questions arose. He is reliable and is fast to respond! He is super easy to work with and takes great pride in his work. He got started on our project right away. The crazy spring weather put some bumps in the road, but Charles would keep communicating to make sure the project got done to our satisfaction. The landscaping came out better then we expected. I highly recommend them!

Charles and his team did an amazing job turning my backyard into a place we WANT to spend time. It started out at knee high weeds and he scraped it all out, added top soil, sod, decorative and crushed rock as well has concrete curbing. He also installed a brand new irrigation system and helped with some other last minute projects while he was here. He was on time, responsive and his team was very nice and respected our home while they were here.
