Home Services reviews in Meridian, Idaho

My main interest is in indoor plants. I was really hoping there would be a great selection as this is the closest plant store to me. To be honest the indoor plant select was "okay." Other nuseries in the area and even Lowes/Home Depot have a much better selection.

I have been a loyal customer for years, specifically to the Chinden location. I was so disappointed with the product (permabark) and when I called to ask about the product, I was told by the manager on duty that I got what they got. I explained that what "I got" was dime size rock, basically gravel and not 3/4" rock and it did not match the rock I had previously purchased from them. Again I was told the story of how the trucks deliver and I got what they got....her exact words. I understand how permabark is delivered to them, but to tell me I didn't get the bottom of the bin and not offer to give me either a refund and take your "gravel" back, or offer to give me some of the top of the pile that I am positive has a lot of the 3/4", Is poor customer service. I felt like my concerns about a compromised product didn't matter at all.

Zamzows employees know alot about yard and garden topics. They are a good place to buy garden plants as well as flowers. Their quality is best, I think. They do cost more than what you'd pay at Walmart though, but again, the quality is much better. They also teach you and talk to you about what you're doing so you have the best results.

Called to ask questions, can’t speak to anyone. Not even an option. Instead I get some trash AI agent. So much for being a local company as they claim. Too bad really

I really like this store. It has a nice variety of garden plants. My beef is that things are not priced. So you have to have it rung up and decide you dont want if the price is more than you want to pay.

Took my Old English Sheepdog to Zamzows for her first major grooming. She had been there before for a wash/trim and all went well. This time, we were getting all her puppy fur shaved off to allow the adult coat to grow out.
Dropped her off, got a call a couple hours later and picked her up. Amber had explained to my wife that she had some hair built up in her paws and ears and that she had gotten it out. We didn't know if that was something that needed to be done one way or another, but just accepted it, as it was already done.
Immediately when we got home, she started acting very different than normal. She laid in a corner and whimpered. We thought she was just upset about getting shaved, so thought nothing of it, until after a couple days, she started crying more and blood was building up and caking inside her ears. It turns out that Amber had caused the skin to open after pulling the hair out of her ears, which (after taking her to the vet) led to DUAL STAPH SKIN INFECTIONS in both ears! Amber NEVER asked me if I wanted to have my dog's ears plucked, if she would have, I would have called my vet and asked, which he told me it is not necessary today when she was treated.
$330 later at the vet, my dog is in immense pain. The vet did acknowledge that although he could ascertain that the infection was due to the grooming, he could not say whether it was due to very bad luck, or negligence. I called, spoke with the assistant manager Diane, who seemed concerned at first, then after the second conversation (once my dog had been treated) she pretty much blew me off, asked me if I wanted to speak with Amber about the situation, thanked me for letting her know, and said good bye.
I understand that I have no proof that it was the groomer's fault, but you would think a good manager would have at least offered me sympathy for my dog's pain? possibly a discounted future grooming to ensure my return? Anything, other than "Thank you for letting me know, have a good night."
I have been going to this store for years, and have spent hundreds of dollars on plants, animal necessities and yard care. I will not go again, it is clear that when something goes wrong, they could care less.
UPDATE: I spoke with Amber, who in defending herself explained that she had cleaned/disinfected my dog's ears BEFORE plucking the hair. That rules out the possibility that she had latent Staph on her skin...which leads me to believe that the staph had to have come from her hands or instruments in the process of plucking the hairs. She showed no remorse, refused to take any responsibility in light of all evidence pointing at her and also just blew me off. Amazing business practices... -
This is my favorite place to get house plants. We have a rather large collection and it makes the house air feel less stuffy and more pleasant. Everyone I encounter has been very helpful and nice for the year I have been shopping here.

I'm giving 5 stars because I love Zamzows and most of the staff were very friendly today. However, I do need to point out that I witnessed a supervisor (maybe just a tenured employee) named Jennifer who was belittling an employee right in front of us for the crime of opening a second cash register while 4 customers were waiting in line. Very bad taste in my mouth from that. Sandy, however, was awesome and very helpful. I didn't catch the name of the gal who got yelled at for helping us, but she was wonderful as well.

We’ve used Zamzows for the last three years. I’m not sure what happened but the customer service has certainly gone down hill. I was fortunate enough to work with Beth in creating our landscaping and garden, she was phenomenal. I haven’t seen Beth this year and sadly I can count on one hand how many times someone has asked if I needed help or asked to help when carrying heavy pottery or flower pots when no cart is available.
It’s been disappointing at best. -
Convenient and good variety. Prices are reasonable. We went to a "backyard chicken class." It was well done and got us ready for our new backyard chickens. Love to get the garden starts and seeds. Also, good supply of "critter support."

Best place for all your lawn, garden, pets, wild bird food needs! There is always someone who can help you with any lawn/garden/bug issue which is a HUGE plus for me! They also always have a great variety of trees, shrubs, flowers, and garden veggies. When in season of course! It's also great how many locations they have! It comes in handy even though I'm partial to my local Zamzows! 5 stars! Zamzows never let's me down!

About 3 years ago there was a big change of management. You can totally tell the difference. The garden area was lush, supply of items was always top notch, employees were always well informed and engaging. I went in today (like I have at least 2-3x a month for the last 12+ years)to my usual Chinden store. I was sad to see the state of the store deteriorate. Low supplies in everything, the indoor garden area was subpar to what it used to be, was not engaged by one of the 7 employees that were in a rush to walk past me. I found one employee and asked where the hanging basket liners were and he pointed and said over there. So when I walked “over there” to find that there were literally 3 of single random sizes I turned around to walk back and ask if there were anymore in the storage area or somewhere else in the store... and the employee was gone. So I just walked out disappointed in Zamzows changes to what they did best and unique. I guess I am headed to the Big box stores👎🏻

Gotta love Zamzows! They are helpful, nice and offer a good amount of stuff at a fair price. I'm a big fan of the lawn program. We buy the majority of our plants there and a few fruit trees. Good quality stuff and a local biz. We bought our Xmas tree there this year too.

It was good. I came in looking for advice on curing the leaf curl on my peach tree and was helped by multiple people. I needed some irrigation line too and they had a very limited selection but they gave me directions to a place that specializes in that sort of thing so it was really good. I will definitely go back again.

I love going here--the service and products are top notch. Everyone seems to be passionate about what they do. I wish I caught the name of the gentleman who helped me today ... He asked if he could help me, and I told him I'd spoken with Nadine on the phone and she recommended Magic Minerals for a problem arborvitae. He got excited and said, "Yes! I love that stuff!" He went on to give me all sorts of great tips for keeping our trees healthy. He loaded the 50lb bag on a cart for me, took it out to the car, and put it in the back for me. He seemed so happy to be there and to help. We also have their lawn Care program and it keeps our lawn green and healthy....we get compliments all the time!

Hey folks I have purchased Christmas trees from you the last 2 years . I love the Nordemans for their quirkiness & no “shedding”. I called today to make sure you had them. Came in & was sold a Noble. I asked 20 times & was assured it was not a Noble.
Conveniently noticed that you changed the tags so that a Noble was a Nordeman so I didn’t get the tree I wanted & paid $30 more. I have tag, receipt.tree & all the the pictures.
Shame on you. I am even a member of your “club” . What a joke. You don’t even train your employees. Will be taking this further.
So disappointed in you. -
Absolutely wonderful customer service. Spent a long time with a lady from the gardening Dept who helped me figure out how to get my lilacs and blueberries thriving. And gave me lots of individualized advice on how to improve my soil. And what to plant where I can't change the conditions. I wish I were better at remembering names so I could give you a shout out.

We are addicted. The staff is attentive and very knowledgeable. The variety and quality of garden products is top notch. We bought a beautiful magnolia tree from them, and followed the directions faithful. We watered it as directed, and gave it the super duper tree food to boot. Unfortunately, the tree died.
No questions asked, Zamzow's gave us a store credit and the replacement is perfect. They understand the importance of service. -
It's hard to do business with a store that can't answer the phone because they've adopted an AI to answer calls. And because the AI can't really answer your question, it asks you to come to the store, or leave your email.

Large selection with beautiful plants, garden supplies, and pet food. I am thrilled with the lawn program. Now our lawn looks amazing. Tonight I ended up with some much stuff at the store that the employee was kind enough to carry out my lawn bag. Thanks Zamzows! You guys are great!

Wonderful service. Had some expensive shrubs die after transplant. Manager helped track down my order to issue a refund since the plants were no longer available for exchange. Manager and gal at front desk went above and beyond to help me. It was very much appreciated and I highly recommend this location!
