Landscaper burnt our yard with fertilizer and did nothing to repair the damage

I generally take the time to write a review when I receive exceptional service or quality. But in this case the service And the response of management were so outrageously poor that I felt the need to put the rest of the world on notice!
We Requested and paid for the design service. The designer/ manager showed up and took pictures but after two weeks of nothing, we started calling wondering what was going on. (We had indicated we wanted the job done ASAP, and we were told our timing was good as it was still March.) Several days/ calls later, we received a bid, no desig n, just a list of plants and a total cost. (We had no idea what we were getting but they were ready to charge us for it!)
I emailed back saying I had paid for the design and couldn't approve the work, without understanding what I was getting. Again, several weeks went by, several phone calls were made, And finally an angry visit to the site on Chinden with the demand to talk to whoever was in charge. And guess what? The person who is in charge never shows his face! Employees say the owner can't be contacted: no one can address issues other than the same designer/ manager we had been trying to work with to no avail. Most of the employees don't speak English anyway, but the ones we spoke to, appeared afraid to send complaints to the owner. Coincidentally, though, after our visit, the photo-shopped "design" did show up in my email.
What we finally received was unusable. I had explained to the designer/manager at the outset that we needed this landscaping around our swimming pool to block view but the solution needed to take into consideration that we would have babies, young children, and pets in this vicinity.
In spite of this, the bid was primarily for Laurel bushes. I looked up these cherry Laurel bushes and discovered that they are highly poisonous; Very toxic in even small amounts. Even a chewed leaf can kill pets and certainly young children. I immediately emailed the company, and complained Not only about the slow service (because by now it was late May) But also the recommendation of poisonous plants. What I received back was a nasty letter from what was clearly the owner bragging about 35 years of service and knowing what he was doing with regard to the Laurel bushes. Apparently I was supposed to ignore their poisonous nature because the man hidden in the office knows best! He then cut off communications with me, on the grounds he was insulted that I would challenge his company's design. This is the reason I rate this company so low. There are many, many alternatives to Jon C. Irby's unprofessional, slow, unresponsive, work. I am very pleased with the solutions, cost, professionalism of the landscape company I finally have working on this.

We purchased 11 trees last fall. All but the two Norway Spruce are thriving. Both spruce, although putting out new growth are suffering from disease. When approach it was obvious Jon C Irby was not going to stand by their product. They warrantee only in year of purchase. We planted in fall of 2019. Warrantee voided in December only after two months. There is a sign stating this: however I did not recall seeing the sign last fall when we purchased our trees. This is a bad, not customer friendly policy. I highly recommend you visit a more customer friendly nursery. There are so many to choose from.

Thank you, Andrea for helping me find hydrangeas that are a beautiful fit for my yard! No one else in town had what I was looking for and she said she could order them for me. I have been trying to find a good match for my shaded front beds for a long time. So glad to have beautiful hydrangeas planted there now. Thank you for your help and customer service.

Andrea is fun helpful and knows her trees and shrubs. We purchased just prior to Thanksgiving and everything is thriving. I plan on returning for more shrubs and trees as soon as they have the plants on display. Excellent nursery stock locally grown which is why they do so well here.

Arborvitaes we’re half foliage at full price. Owner refused to exchange or refund. No amends we’re offered. Buyer beware. The owner blamed it completely on the buyer not looking closer when they were picked out. I would not purchase here in the future. Infact, due to lack of customer service I would recommend staying clear of this business unless your sure the purchase was absolutely perfect because they claim no responsibilities post purchase.

Went looking all over town for a serviceberry and they had beautiful ones. Andrea was awesome in helping me find it, load it, etc. I was very impressed with the layout and the maintenance of their inventory. I will be returning!

Would give 0 stars if I could. I have spent over $6,000 on 15 trees and 2 plants here. They installed not even a year has gone by and two trees are browning and dying. The other trees are thriving and green. I take great pride and care of my plants. I asked if they would replace the two trees and was told “we only replace if we installed”. I said “you guys did install them!” Then the lady said “well we only give a warranty in the same year you purchased”. I purchased in October so I am being punished for that with a 2 month warranty. One might say if you’re going to buy something at Jon C Irby, you only buy on January 1st. But I would argue don’t buy here at all!! There are so many other nursery’s that give better product with a real warranty. Or at least a warranty you can make sense of.

I bought a very nice tree. They delivered a crappy mis-shaped tree. Went and got terrible dirt from a near by construction site with rocks as big as your fist in it. I will have to amend that dirt for $$ to even save the crappy tree they planted. DO NOT do business with them. I will have to replace this tree next Spring and never buy from Jon C Irby. Buyer beware.

Beautiful and well maintained nursery and fully stocked. I purchased seven trees and shrubs and they are all thriving. Andrea is very knowledgeable and was able to assist me in picking the perfect trees and shrubs for my yard. The service is second to none. If you are looking to landscape with top quality plants, trees and shrubs I would highly recommend Jon C Irby.

The nursery is beautiful with a huge selection of plants, shrubs and trees. It was lovely just walking around the grounds! The staff here are friendly, eager to help and knowledgeable. We purchased 2 trees and 2 shrubs back in May. The trees are thriving but our shrubs did not make it. When I reached out to the business the manager Andrea was quick to respond and eager to help and even picked out awesome replacement shrubs for us! The crew who came to plant the first time and second time were respectful of our property and left everything nicely planted and the yard clean. I trust the quality of the plants at this nursery and I absolutely love the customer service here. I will definitely be back! Thank you again to Andrea and the staff here!

I have been dealing with landscaping issues since 2020. I live in Verado in Meridian & have unsuccessfully followed the HOA procedures MANY times for trying to get my issues resolved. Here are a couple of pics taken today to substantiate my complaint.
I have NO pets or children.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how this should be resolved??

Let me start off by saying that the tree selection and plant selection at this location is amazing. The customer service from the manager sucks. We bought four trees and paid to have them planted so that we would get a guarantee for the life of the tree till December and we bought them in May. The installers broke a sprinkler line and because the sprinklers weren’t pressurized we didn’t find out until that evening when we turned the sprinklers on. I tried three times to contact them by phone the next morning and they did not return my calls. Finally I got a call back late afternoon. I explained the situation and that we just wanted the tree removed so we could fix the sprinkler line. She said she didn’t have anybody available that she’d have to talk to John and see what they could do; then the next day, after suggesting that I just water everything by hand, she texted me and said the installers are on the way to remove the tree. Just note that if we removed the tree ourselves, it would void our warranty on the tree. My husband rescheduled an appointment so he would be here when they arrived and they never showed up and we’ve been ghosted. We called, we texted, we’ve even gone into the location and asked to speak to her again and we were told “this is her day off she’s not available. I’ll give her the message” but we never got a call back and we had to dig up the tree a month later ourselves and try to replant it and the tree died. The tree cost us $425 and $200 to install it. We did our best to give it the upmost care but it went into shock and died so now we’re out $625 and they could care less. If you want to purchase products from John Irby do so at your own risk but don’t think that’s gonna come with a guarantee and don’t think that after they get your $2700 that they’re going to give a crap about you because they’re not

Very good experience with this business. They have a huge inventory of trees and shrubs (we bought a tree). The price was great and they installed promptly. All good.

DO NOT USE FOR LANDSCAPING!

I live in the Verado neighborhood where our HOA uses this company for our landscaping. It's been nothing but lazy and poor work over the years I lived here. Recently there was a little hole in my white vinyl fence and some deep scratches (a few feet wide). It took almost too months of back and forth to get one of his workers to come out and they only replaced the board that had the small hole. The HOA and Jon Irby felt the deep scratches were not caused by his workers. They are right next to each other, how ridiculous that Jon Irby would try to get out of fixing a mistake his employees made. I don't even have any equipment that would cause that as the HOA doesn't allow us to mow ourselves. Even after his employee came to replace the fence board, he left multiple piles of broken vinyl shards on the ground and I have dogs. How hard is it to clean up after yourself.

Other quality issues include
- Edging always sucks, they don't take the time to get in the corners
- Constantly leave piles of cut grass that fall out of their lawn mower
- Often misses sections when cutting

If you have the option to choice your landscaper, I HIGHLY recommend to keep looking.

We got this beautiful hydrangea shrub last year and it is blooming beautifully. Originally thought these were white but have turned into these gorgeous light color pink.

Also purchased this tricolor shrub and tree earlier this year. So far so good!

This year I neither had someone to mow my lawn or to weed and feed or to do sprinkler start up and blow out and I was referred to Jeff at Diamond Lawn Care. They can do the weed and feed, and sprinkler start and blowout, and they have many other services which I was pleased to discover. I’m happy that I was referred to Diamond Lawn Care to help me manage my lawn needs. ❤️

First Rate Property Management has used Diamond Lawns for over a decade. They have handled huge maintenance contracts, installation of landscaping, and sprinkler install and repairs. The crews are very friendly and do a great job. They respond quickly to issues as they arise. We recently hired Diamond Lawns to replace another company and the property immediately started looking much better. In fact, one of our tenants just posted a review on our site thanking us for changing the lawn company to Diamond Lawns. So I feel bad, that it took a positive review on my company to finally realize that I need to publicly thank and endorse Diamond Lawns. Thank you Jake and the entire crew.

The guys at Diamonds Lawns have been taking excellent care of our lawn for years. They are so nice, helpful and professional. Garrett even took the time to try and fix my sprinkler head, and upon finding that it was broken, dug it up and told me how to fix it with a new head. How kind and thoughtful! He went way above and beyond his regular tasks. Definitely keeping Diamond Lawns!
