This place is great! Such a huge variety of plants! Was able to score a couple really cool carnivorous babies for a big terrarium! Emmy (i hope i spelled that right) was super helpful and knew just how to get me on the right path with a couple plants and was so kind! Take all my money!

I love the place but unfortunately this year every single plant that I bought had an infestation of some sort. Outdoor annuals I got spider mites, aphids, and fungus gnats. With the indoor plant (calathea) that I bought I got soil mealy bugs. I may have gotten the aphids with a plant from another store, though I know for certain that I got the other infestations from this store. With most of my plants I had powdery mildew. I’m concerned for all of my other indoor plants. I’ve just let my outdoor plants live out their lives because I tried my best to treat the infestations, to no avail. I’m sure most plant stores have this problem, it’s hard to control these pests but after I knew what to look for it was easier to spot. I think it would be a good idea for the staff to check regularly and sell healthy plants rather than leave us find out the hard way. Like I said, I love the store and the staff are great but this year’s selection just brought so many problems with it for me. Fingers crossed for a better year next year.

Tara was so helpful when we arrived to the store in a panicked frenzy to find the perfect plant and pot for a present. She was patient and listened to what we were looking for. The plant offerings are amazing and the staff is so knowledgeable. We landed on a Aglaonema Stripes (Chinese evergreen) houseplant and plan to come back to buy the same plant for our home. Absolutely stunning and the leaves were all so healthy!

This is absolutely my #1 garden store in Chicago. It’s a beautiful plant shoppe with a large and healthy variety! For real. So many species! If you are purchasing larger plants, they’re a bit pricey but that’s typical if they look as nice as these do! Smaller plants were affordable and just as healthy! If you find yourself in need of some new greenery, make this trip.

This is my favorite in Chicago. Right off of Elston there's no parking lot but they're always seems to be parking spots available. I believe it has been a family-run business for many many years. It's great to support local. They have unique items you wouldn't expect. Great mid century outdoor chairs. At the start of the season they sell out of items quickly but do stock back up once or twice a week. I also love the dirt and soil they have. Not sure if there is a difference between dirt and soil. The plant selections for indoors are plentiful and lots of rotating selections.

Chloe Larson, our landscaping consultant, and her team did an incredible job with our backyard design and annual flower planting. She is incredibly knowledgeable, professional and is a great communicator. The cost of the design and plantings were very reasonable. Farmers Market - Chicago's Garden Center is highly recommended.

bought a plant that has bugs (whiteflies), they're not willing to take it back. extremely disappointing considering the high pricetag.

My neighbors and I used Farmers Market for our landscaping and garden cleanup and we could not be happier. The FM team planted tulips last fall the look amazing and they just installed sod in our yard that is doing well and looks beautiful so far. Chloe and team are super responsive with questions and sincerely care about how your garden grows and thrives.

I used to shop here 15 20 years ago and the customer service was amazing! The staff, the owner very knowledgeable and helpful. Well I understand times change and maybe the management/owners have also? I’ve gone twice in the last week and am only giving this place 3 stars because ONE lady today was helpful. One. I wish I got her name. Otherwise it seems like most who work there aren’t knowledgeable about plants or the products they sell...do they have them? Where are they located? etc. They seem mostly busy stocking and taking care of store tasks rather than being bothered with customers.

I love this place. We have been coming here for years to buys perennials, annuals and get advice. We also buys our Christmas tree here each year. We are so happy to witness the revitalization of this local gem. The renewed selection of plants and planters/decor is amazing. The floral services are also top knot-notch. I ordered a Prom corsage that was beyond average. Prettiest one of the night! Thank you for being a great neighborhood stop!!

I had such a positive experience that I felt compelled to say something. I went in looking for perennials but really had no idea what I was doing. Regan helped me so much and was infinitely patient. Truly great customer service and an excellent selection of beautiful flowers. No more Home Depot for me. Glad I live so close to this wonderful place.
Plus, the music here is always on point. Last time I came by I heard Pavement, Yo La Tengo and Guided by Voices. Thumbs way up. -
I purchased a beautiful Jane Magnolia with the help of the owners of the garden center. Everyone is exceptionally knowledgeable and kind, and want the best for their clients. Every question I had was thoughtfully answered and the delivery/installation was completed with attention to detail. I highly recommend this shop, which I recently learned is women-owned! One thing I’d note is that they are extremely busy during this season, but they give them their full attention to each client. 10/10!!!

This is the best spot to get anything from Christmas trees to pumpkins. For flowers though this beats everybody in the dust. I worked with Charlie who really helped me find the best bouquet for my wife. They delivered it quickly and was so nice over the phone and to my wife. The Bouquet itself was beautiful and the flowers were not dyed or fake looking. It was a piece of Art!
If you are asking yourself would I ever go here again? The answer is yes yes YES they are the best and they have a return customer for life. Thanks again! -
Happy greens. Should I have gotten an email for points? I look forward to a happy return.

If you need spectacular plantings for your flower boxes, pots or hanging baskets then you should run-DON'T WALK- to the Farmers Market Garden Center. Owned by women, their eye for elegant, unexpected plant groupings makes for magic throughout the growing season.
I have worked with Chloe for several years now. Her winter planting for my front porch large bowl was as whimsical as it was beautiful. Each spring she and her team come to plant the largest pieces around my house. So many people stop and ask who did our planting I told Chloe I should get a commission.
The plant selection is wide and the quality of plants is excellent. Service is top notch. This is where you should go for show stopping plantings at a reasonable price. -
Farmers Market has been my go-to for spring planting for several years. Choosing porch plants can be a challenge because my city porch is north-facing and covered. The staff here has never failed to recommend the right plants for my lowlight growing conditions. They're knowledgeable and super helpful. It's a pleasure to shop here!

Pretty amazing!!! A ‘hidden’ gem in Chicago. I have gone to all the famous places and this place is closer. The selection is amazing. I got my terrarium plants. Some garden decorations and pond plants. I had a person with me all the time!!! Service! Thought that was dead. If he didn’t know, he asked.

The staff are really nice and courteous. We’ve gotten our Yule trees from them and have had great results. We bought an Areca Palm plant about a month ago and with proper care and attention it’s already withering and has bugs. Maybe I should’ve held off buying a plant that only had a few brown leaves but it looked lovely still. I called their store and asked for advice on caring for the plant but have yet to hear back and it’s been over a week.

My son and I LOVE this place for great selection of unique plants!!!

Quite the selection of plants even though they have only their indoor section open (since it's January). Am excited to come back in the spring to see a bigger selection and get some for my home.
