While I was away, my first-floor heating stopped working due to a faulty igniter. Express Heating & Cooling arrived, but ended up disconnecting a second-floor thermostat, running a new wire, and drilling in a new unit - now both the first and second floors are without heat instead of just one.

I've had Express handle my furnace and AC for over 15 years, consistently showing up on time and getting the job done efficiently. They also take care of my mom's units - their reliability is unparalleled; I wouldn't consider anyone else to maintain our home systems.

Avoid this company at all costs. I had AHS send three contractors over for separate visits, which were supposed to address issues prior to the heating season:

1) A pre-season tuneup that went wrong - they incorrectly installed my air filters with a V-shape configuration, missing one side and leaving the other side off altogether. They also noted my system was low on Freon and required an additional service call.
2) A Freon recharge for $300
3) After the recharge, my unit still took over six hours to cool down my home from 77 to 71, even when it was less than 80 degrees outside. I had them come back out to investigate and they claimed it was working within factory specifications, despite acknowledging that something was off.

Two weeks later, after getting multiple second opinions, I decided to replace the system. The new company showed me how clogged the condenser coil outside was. It's a shame those contractors were sent over three times, misdiagnosed the problem, stole my $300, and didn't know what to do after recharging Freon.

Do not trust this company with your HVAC needs.

I scheduled an appointment with this company through my home warranty program, but they've consistently failed to follow up. On the day of our first scheduled visit, they didn't show or call. When I reached out to reschedule, he claimed that a verbal agreement wasn't enough confirmation. We were rebooked for another Saturday between 8-12, only to have them ignore us again. This time, he said our appointment was between 12-4 without any apology. I'm not willing to waste my time waiting around for them to mess me over once more.

I scheduled an appointment with Express Heating & Cooling to address a furnace issue during a particularly cold snap in Chicago. The original appointment time frame was between 12pm and 4pm, but the tech showed up significantly later than that. He stated he had another job to finish before attending to me, which didn't sit well with me since I took the day off work to wait for him.

But instead of making it to my place, he told me he wouldn't be able to service my furnace at all because they were "really busy". I couldn't help but feel taken advantage of since Express Heating & Cooling prioritized other customers over mine. This lack of consideration is what really got under my skin - not just the inconvenience, but also the apologetic yet empty phrase "we're sorry".

What's most disappointing is that I lost money because I had to take off work to accommodate their schedule. It's clear they made decisions based on who was more convenient, rather than providing a genuine solution for customers like me.

In light of my experience with Express Heating & Cooling, I wouldn't hesitate to warn others about the potential issues you may face when dealing with this company.

Avoid this company at all costs. They took me in mid-June to fix my air conditioning, but instead of the promised repair, they charged $200. When I called them back last week, they claimed it was a "bug" stuck inside and just cleaned it, but still billed me another $75 for the service. Yesterday, their technician came back, supposedly fixed it again, but then took away my one-year warranty after I complained about the poor work - and now it's broken once more.

This company's customer service is non-existent - I never received a response to my calls. It's too bad they'll be losing money on it.
