Given the age of the unit and the significant cost difference between repairs and replacement, I agreed with his recommendation to replace the furnace.

I also opted to upgrade my current Honeywell thermostat to an Ecobee Lite model. Since I didn't have access to a C wire and was unfamiliar with connecting the wire adapter, I chose to pay extra for this service. The new thermostat doesn't require batteries; instead, it draws power from the furnace, which is convenient since I've had issues with thermosets dying due to low battery warnings.

In contrast to my previous experience with another HVAC company, Comfort Zone Service far exceeded my expectations. Prior to purchasing our current home, we rented a house with a 20+ year old Carrier furnace that suffered a similar fate. The landlord replaced the inducer motor themselves and hired an independent technician who installed an EVCON branded furnace.

It wasn't until several months later that the capacitor in the unit blew, but fortunately, the technician's son arrived promptly to replace it. In stark contrast, my experience with Comfort Zone Service has been a 100 times improvement over my previous one.
