Platinum Decking did two projects for me this year. Our new main deck and matching pool deck look amazing and both crews were top notch. Ignacio and his crew took care of all my special requests. Matt, Colby, Jack, and Austin went above and beyond when installing our pool deck and showed great care and follow through. I couldn’t be happier with the results from both projects. Jeff, Rob and the whole team were a pleasure to work with and we’ve been enjoying our new decks a lot on the warmer days and they both look great!

Platinum Decking were an amazing company to work with. From Adam in sales to Danny and crew doing the work. They were always on time, worked through good and not so good weather. Worked as a well oiled machine. The crew of 4-5 guys knew just what each person's job was and worked hard and long hours. The deck turned out beautiful, sturdy, and the lights are a touch of class. I would definitely recommend this crew for your project. We are very happy with the results.

We are thrilled with the fence that Platinum Decking installed in our backyard earlier this month! You would never guess that this is the company's FIRST fence installation (the quality is top-notch!). We went with a white composite fence, with sections of six-foot privacy and a shorter picket and it looks beautiful. We're so grateful to Scott and his team for working with us on this project - their professionalism, quality and customer service were excellent. We would highly recommend reaching out to Platinum Decking for any patio, deck or fence projects.

We are very happy with our new deck. Brianna was very perfessional and helped us sort through the options to get just what we wanted. This deck has made a dramatic transformation to our home. The project manager and workers were all helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable. The work was done as they promised, in the time frame they promised. Both we and our guests have enjoyed spending time on our new deck.
If you are looking to get a deck, I recommend Platinum Decking -
My mother and father-in-law live in Schaumburg and were interested in replacing their deck on the back of the house. They spend a ton of time on their deck, which my father-in-law maintained over the years by himself. However, it was at the point where it needed major renovation work. Plus there were a number of places where the deck needed to be redesigned to make it safer for the two of them (They are both in their late 80's).
I told them to work with Platinum Decking, who a friend of mine worked with to replace their deck (and was very happy). The Platinum Deck team quoted a great price and worked very closely with my father-in-law (an engineer himself) on the design and installation work.
The deck was finished late last fall on time and on budget. And now that the weather has turned warm this spring, my in-laws are out on their deck almost every day. I can see happiness in their faces when they are out on that deck!
A big thanks to Platinum Decking. Every person associated with the Platinum Decking company that my in-laws came into contact with during the whole project was great. From the proposal discussions, to the final design work, to the guys that did the buildout... such a fantastic team. -
We recently had our old deck replaced with Trex decking by Platinum Decking and we couldn’t be happier with the entire experience! They were incredibly knowledgeable and very easy to work with.
They took the time to explain our options (especially for a pool) and made sure every detail was exactly what we wanted. Sebastian and his crew did incredible work, kept the work area clean, and clearly took pride in their craftsmanship. The finished deck looks absolutely amazing due to this crew and Sebastian’s attention to details. We’ve already received so many compliments from neighbors and friends!
If you’re considering replacing your deck, we highly recommend this company. Exceptional workmanship and results that exceeded our expectations! -
Platinum replaced our existing deck & patio for us. We worked with Breanna on the designs. Scott, Matt & their teams on the demos & installations. Start to finish we had a great experience. The turn around time was fabulous & the teams were professional & kept us informed during the entire process. The attention to deal & their workmanship expertise really showed through. We would highly recommend Platinum Decking.

I own a log home with a cantilever front porch/deck which needed replacing after 25 years and decided to work with Platinum Decking due to its unique requirements, and their confidence in design and in tackling any unknowns which could and did show up.
The final solution using TimberTech decking and Trex Signature railings was even better than we hoped for. The structure is solid, the product is fantastic and the workmanship is excellent. We expect this new porch/deck to look and perform like new for a very long time, with minimal maintenance.
I need to mention working with Rob Baumgartner throughout the project from planning through completion has been superb and appreciate his professionalism.
And we were very impressed with the 2 man crew who spent 1.5 weeks with us doing the teardown and rebuild.
I would highly recommend Platinum Decking for any outdoor decking project. -
Well, about one year ago I invested thousands of dollars in a project to have this company do a “grout replacement” job on about 1000 SF of 2x4’ fake marble tiles. They didn’t dig out anywhere near enough grout, what they “replaced” was surface depth of no more than 1/16” in many places, which summarily rejected the floor and fell out in high traffic areas within days. After two visits to touch up areas, they asked me to wait until after the Christmas holiday as it would be a heavy traffic event. I’m not foolish, I didn’t expect this job to be as good as replacing the floor, and I hoped to extend the life by 5 years before I would have to replace it, but I didn’t even get 5 months. It looks terrible, and I never did get contacted by them about the final follow up post holidays.
August 2025 update: The company sent its most senior technician out to restore all areas of the floor that were unsatisfactory upon completion of the initial job. Assuming the newly completed work stays in place, I would re-rate my experience as reflected. Ownership was apologetic that it took as long as it did to be completed correctly. The communication issue mentioned ended up being a misunderstanding about who was responsible for reaching out. -
We hired Grout Medic to remove mold/clean grout in 3 bathrooms and floors. They also recaulked the bathrooms and our kitchen sink. Mike D. was courteous and efficient. They did a great job! Would not hesitate to use them again!

My kitchen, bathroom and laundry room tile looks new again! We were selling our home and wanted it to show it's best. The investment really paid off. Mike was very thorough and professional.
-
Zach did an outstanding job! He repaired and refreshed the grout, recaulked the shower glass and door, and replaced the door sweep. Everything looks brand new, and he even shared helpful maintenance tips. He was professional, efficient, and left the workspace spotless. We’re very happy with the results and highly recommend his services!

The grout medic couldn't be more disappointing with their service. Joe was a terrible salesman and will not honor the proposal that was laid out. The proposal had the following written down:
"remove existing caulk and loose crack grout in seams as necessary".
Their job was to remove old existing caulk and lay down new caulk. When the technician arrived, he said that none of the old caulk would be removed prior to the new caulk being applied. He was simply going to caulk over existing material. I immediately postponed the project and contacted the project rep (Joe) for clarity.
I've had caulk jobs completed in my old house in the past; never once did they suggest that this was acceptable practice. Old material has to be removed prior to laying down new silicone. For a company that specializes in these types of projects, I was shocked that Joe was vouching for the technician. He was unprofessional, became agitated, and made it sound like it was my fault that I was adhering to the proposal that he laid out. When I called this out, he decided to cancel the agreement. Do NOT do any caulk jobs at this company. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone who wants a job done right.
EDIT (11.30.25)
Since Joe (or whoever else) is choosing to incorrectly describe a situation they were not there for, I'll reiterate the following:
-Pete, the technician who was present, HAD ABSOLUTELY NO INTENTION OF REMOVING ANY EXISTING CAULK. HE SHOWED ME EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS GOING TO DO WHEN HE APPLIED THE NEW CAULK DIRECTLY ON THE OLD CAULK. I EVEN SAID THE FOLLOWING BEFORE STARTING: "MY DAUGHTER IS SLEEPING RIGHT NOW, BUT YOU CAN START UPSTAIRS FIRST, SHE PROBABLY WON'T WAKE UP", TO WHICH HE REPLIED "OH DON'T WORRY, THIS WON'T TAKE TOO LONG. I WON'T BE MAKING MUCH NOISE AT ALL, IT'LL BE OVER PRETTY QUICK". I've removed caulk in the past, and it is not a quiet job. It takes elbow grease and effort to remove old caulk (hence why I made these statements about my daughter sleeping in a room across the bathroom).
-The color caulk statement is completely inaccurate, as I told them multiple days in advance that I wanted mapei avalanche to be the color (see attached e-mail). There was nothing to discuss on the day of the job as it relates to the color. There was nothing to sample, as everything had been picked already.
-I asked the technician point blank: "ARE YOU NOT GOING TO REMOVE THE OLD CAULK?" He replied with "NO I AM NOT. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO THEN?" I followed up with the statement "LET'S HOLD OFF FOR NOW UNTIL I CONTACT JOE ABOUT THIS, BECAUSE THE CONTRACT SAYS SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN WHAT YOU'RE DESCRIBING." They are trying to make it sound like I wanted to waste MY time and their time the day after thanksgiving. Trust me when I say this, I've never had to ask a contractor to leave my house for a job prior to this. I don't gain anything by "lying". I don't gain anything by them not finishing the project. I shifted my entire schedule to make this happen. I was extremely disappointed they did not honor their agreement, as this pushes the project timeline back even further.
-Since we're talking about inconsistencies, here is another one: the technician mentioned that the weep holes in the first floor shower SHOULD NOT BE CAULKED. Joe, the rep, said the COMPLETE OPPOSITE when he came by for the original estimate. The tech looked at me flabbergasted by these statements that Joe made. Again, this is another example where they weren't even on the same page at all. Even now, I don't know who is correct on this matter. They talk about "being in alignment with NTCA practices", yet they aren't even in alignment on this particular issue.
I am laying down the facts and have the evidence to support my statements. This isn't hearsay.
EDIT 12.3.25:
There is nothing in this situation to "see differently". These are facts that cannot be argued. These aren't opinions. The best thing to do would have been to acknowledge the inconsistencies and make remedies, not stand by them. -
I had The Grout Medic expert at my house on 3 different occasions for work on 3 bathrooms and an entryway. The work was superb, and I’ve received many compliments. The technician was very knowledgable and personable, and he instructed me on maintaining my tile. I highly recommend them!

Needed to caulk 2 bathrooms around tub and final result was beautiful. Everything went very smoothly. Bathtubs look brand new, and they also did a great job on wall tiles and floors. Bathrooms look clean and sparkly. Highly recommend!

Mike who did our grout work is a perfectionist and did a great job. We are so happy with how our grout turned out. Besides our floors we had our backsplashes re worked.
From the initial estimate to completing the work, everything went smoothly and the job was better than expected. I highly recommend The grout Medic for cleaning and repairing any grout in your home. This is a very professional company. -
We had a fantastic experience with The Grout Medic! They cleaned, whitened and sealed the grout in our main floor bathroom that is a high traffic area and it has held up beautifully over the last several months. They were professional and fair with their pricing and their expertise. I highly recommend!
